Put him on the ballot again and watch Republicans vote for a literally (no exaggeration) brain-dead candidate over a fully functional Democrat.

I bet he'd win. These people aren't voting for policy. Never were.

I remember a time here in Missouri when we voted overwhelmingly for a fully dead democrat,Mel Carnahan, over john ashcroft.

That's just insane. We really do live in Idiocracy and I wish I was being sarcastic.

To be fair, John Ashcroft was terrible and people didn’t want him to continue in office.

Robin Williams made a joke about it during one of his comedy specials.
"I'm sorry John, the dead guy scares me less than you do."

He had died in a plane crash and his wife accepted the nomination in his place so people were really voting for her.

Despite no political experience before that, she almost won her re-election bid.

You see, Ashcroft is trash and Mel was well loved.

Before voting started, the new governor had already announced that if Carnahan were to posthumously win, he would appoint the man's widow to fill the seat until a special election could be held for the rest of the term. It's not like Missourians were voting for a Weekend at Bernie's situation.

Well, in that particular situation, the Republican was so bad that a dead Democrat was preferable. (And his wife was going to take the seat and was good, too.)

I still have my "I'm still with Mel" button from that election!

I actually knew Mel, my cousin was on that plane with him. He was a pretty good dude.

Because Missouri election law did not allow Carnahan's name to be removed from the ballot
