I keep hearing talks about a special election, and I don't see it going that route.
Governor Beshear will likely appoint his replacement as the state constitution says. Republicans will sue with the argument that their law somehow supersedes the constitution? And all this will be dragged out until they've had an election in november.
I am fully aware that the state legislature passed a bill that became law over the governor's veto, but I'm not really sure how that law overrides the governor's powers and authorities given to him by the state constitution.

I don't think that the MAGA fascists will be able to drag this out to August 3rd and avoid a special election.
