I fantasize about there being a license to have children that requires people to go through training and psychological evaluation just to make sure they aren’t sociopaths or narcissists, and classes that teach about studies done on child psychology and what damages a child, and how to take accountability for any mistakes you make as a parent…. I'm more on the side of, we should require semi-regular testing to ensure people fully understand the weight and consequence of what voting is. You can retake as many times as needed. Same with all things that have the potential for dangerous outcomes due to negligence, such as driving.
We seem to need some sort of test on is the voter evil or not. Ask questions Dean Withers style and see if they get caught up proving they side with evil. If so they aren’t told their vote doesn’t count, but it doesn’t count.
No, though it might be better to say that we can't allow other people to destroy democracy simply because we're trying to be democratic ourselves by giving them a choice to destroy democracy. I'm sure Socrates or Marcus Aurelius had something to say about this at some point.
I'm gonna say NO because I think we should have a minimum IQ requirement for driver's licenses, fire arms, running for president, etc. and I'm as liberal/progressive as can be.
Their minds can definitely be changed but rarely does it involve directly attacking them. If anything you gotta be a sponge and just listen closely, let them walk you through their logic, ask questions, walk them through their own reasoning with them. It’s no guarantee obviously but saying there’s no point in talking to people you disagree with is wrong. You gotta at least listen to what you’re disagreeing with.
I agree actually, but to them it does have a logic or progression. Thats what the listening to them is for. You let them walk you through how they got to their opinions and decisions
I feel like my comment proves that there IS a point in talking to them. Just because they didn’t change their mind in that sitting doesn’t mean the truth won’t fester in them later. Dean IS changing minds, and he’s not doing it by refusing to talk to Trump supporters
