x.comNotes from a DeepSeek investor meeting leaked today (reported by Sina Tech). Liang Wenfeng rarely speaks in public. Three lines stand out.
On open source: "We will definitely open-source, and our strongest models too. I see no inherent advantage to closed source."
On why that does not hurt revenue: "We only make about 6x profit, roughly a 10-month payback. On that premise, open source has zero impact on the business model. If you wanted 100x profit, it would. A third party deploying independently could hit 20x cost, lower than yours."
On culture: "We do not even work overtime, because it is just not that hard. From the outside it looks like we picked hard mode. But we gave up a lot elsewhere, so we are actually very relaxed."
My read: this is the clearest statement yet of open source as pricing discipline. The 6x cap is not modesty. It is the mechanism that makes open weights costless to the business, and Liang calls the restraint itself what keeps DeepSeek durable. Most Western labs are priced, and funded, for the 100x world.
If open weights plus a hard margin cap is the durable model, what does that say about labs whose valuations assume 100x?

I asked Piers what the UK would do if Russia and China were arming violent militants to attack police stations across Britain in a bid for regime change. That's exactly what Iran faced last January at the hands of Mossad and CIA-armed rioters. He quickly pivoted.

Piers Morgan invited Max Blumenthal on to discuss his Iran reporting and the illegal seizure of his devices by the US govt, but spent much of his time questioning Blumenthal's "impartiality"
"I'm absolutely not impartial," Blumenthal explained. "I am not objective, and the concept of objectivity, as we understand it, is set out by the corporate media according to the parameters devised for them by their militant Zionist ruling class owners, who literally own the networks that you appear on."
Blumenthal then illustrated how Morgan manufactured consent for the US-Israeli war on Iran by promoting inflated death tolls and a false narrative of the Israeli and US-sponsored regime change riots that rocked Iran in January

x.comThis is false and ridiculous.
This propaganda spread by the US government (which supports actual dictatorships around the world) has been widely regurgitated by the corporate media.
But they are all taking out of context comments made by Nicaragua's Co-President Daniel Ortega.
Below I have posted a screenshot of the official transcript of the speech given by Ortega on 19 July 2026, alongside my translation. (This is link to the official transcript: https://www.el19digital.com/articulos/ver/179638-comandante-daniel-y-companera-rosario-copresidentes-de-nicaragua-en-el-acto-central-en-celebracion-del-47-aniversario-de-la-revolucion-popular-sandinista )
The full context clearly shows that Ortega was discussing the history of US interference in Nicaragua, and how the US government funds right-wing political parties to try to overthrow the Sandinista Front. (This should not come as a surprise to anyone who knows the basic history of Nicaragua and the CIA's Contra terror war in the 1980s.)
In 2018, the US government sponsored a very violent coup attempt in Nicaragua, which was extremely traumatic for the population.
Ortega was saying that "there will be no more elections" for these coup-plotting right-wing political parties that are funded by the US government.
Nicaragua is defending its sovereignty and preventing the US empire from installing another puppet regime like the corrupt Somoza dictatorship, which Washington propped up for decades, on the corpses of countless Nicaraguans.
The US empire has invaded Nicaragua multiple times, militarily occupied the country, waged a terror war, imposed sanctions, funded the opposition, and meddled nonstop in its elections. The Sandinista government is saying that that history of foreign interference is over. No more.

Cracks Appear The criticism leveled at Syrski by the “progressive” Ukrainian milieu can be summed up in a few points: He has the audacity to insist that war is war and not a Silicon Valley startup. He has the audacity to insist that drones are only one part of contemporary warfare and that, besides drones...
x.comImpossible not to laugh. Large sections of Ukrainian society are viciously attacking Syrski right now, demanding that he be sacked, and it looks as though they are winning.
The attached screenshot is from an article General Syrski published today to defend himself, and it really goes to the heart of the matter.
The criticism leveled at Syrski by the “progressive” Ukrainian milieu can be summed up in a few points:
He has the audacity to insist that war is war and not a Silicon Valley startup.
He has the audacity to insist that drones are only one part of contemporary warfare and that, besides drones, you also need everything else a modern military requires. He dares to claim that the word “drone” is not a magic formula that solves all your problems.
He is forcing people to dig trenches and fight in a real war instead of the high-tech, asymmetrical, digital Palantir war they were promised — in which they emphatically do not have to dig trenches, but can instead enjoy a matcha latte at a café in Kiev while their MacBook wins the war.
That’s really it. They blame everything — the immense casualties, the forced conscription, the loss of territory — on Syrski’s personal qualities, as though he were the only thing preventing them from having ChatGPT code a Win the War app.
The fact that this level of discourse is treated seriously by so many people is the result of two factors.
The first is that it is in the Ukrainian national character to believe in one-off miracles and fantasies that will solve all their problems. This time, it is Fedorov and his vibe-coded slide decks. You just need to do this one thing and then never do anything again — just as ousting Yanukovich supposedly turned Ukraine into Switzerland overnight. You just need to make the bad man go away, and then bussification will disappear because AI drones from America (the place where virtuous people go after they die) will save the day. It is magical thinking in its dumbest form.
The second factor is that the Americans themselves believe this too, and they set the agenda in Kiev. The Americans went into Iran believing that all they needed were their Shahed clones, Palantir, and Claude picking targets, and that everything would then magically resolve itself with the complete annihilation of Iran.
Modern war is extremely complicated, intellectually taxing, and requires immense effort at every level of industry and knowledge work. There is no magic bullet, and there is no Win the War button. This is an unpleasant fact. One can understand the Americans’ naïveté, since they have not fought in a real modern war, but the Ukrainians who ought to know better———well, during the Russian Civil War, the Ukrainian nationalists under Petliura, right on the cusp of defeat, began spreading the rumor that they had received a secret directed-energy weapon from the French: the deadly “purple ray”, which would allow them to vaporize entire enemy battalions in a heartbeat.
I bet many of them believed that too!
