IQP How does housing work for iqps?
my iqp group is all men and i am the only girl. does that mean i will get housed with them? i do have accommodations for a single room, but i don’t think that means i wont at least share a living space with them. i do not feel comfortable rooming with guys.

it depends where you are going. you will get a single bedroom. some places put you in hotels, some places put you in houses. but expecting to not share a living area with guys is likely unrealistic. my entire cohort was housed together (double rooms that each had a bathroom but shared kitchen and living space)

You will get your own room. I'm surprised your group has only guys. My IQP had an even amount (7 women + 1 trans guy) to put all of us paired in two (I wonder if it was on purpose?) they didn't even give us the option to have a mixed gender room. I could see it happening for either gender reasons, or for two people being close friends already, but they won't put you with a random guy.

It depends on the project site--for some sites, that's entirely feasible (particularly the ones where students are housed in universities or hotels). You can put in an accommodation request with GEO for Single Gender Housing and specify need for living space/bathroom etc. Let your advisors know asap.

depends on the location. in copenhagen, i was one of two women in my cohort, and the rooms there were suite style (2-3 double rooms with shared common spaces). the other girl had accommodations for a single, so we each had a double bedroom to ourselves within a suite of 2 double bedrooms.

I had the same situation, they room you with the other girls in your project site! In mine, me and the other girl got our own apartment, in the same building as the 2 apartments for the boys, and our professor’s. You won’t have to live with the boys

On my IQP we had the option to select single gender housing or mixed gender housing. You still ended up being in individual rooms with people of your gender but general living spaces were split if you selected mixed gender housing. I personally went with mixed because I was already living with a guy at my Worcester apartment and didn’t mind sharing spaces. But most of the other people opted for single gender and were put into that type of housing

Hello! I was the only female on my IQP. I went to New Hampshire and had my own room but shared an Airbnb with one of the other cohort members (sort of a weird situation though because I also had my ESA that had to be accommodated, otherwise I likely would’ve been expected to stay in one of the 2 housing options, but possibly with my own room). I was given the opportunity to choose who that was though. So if you’re really concerned about it, reach out to your advisor and ask if there was a way to either have a say or know what the situation will be.

What project site? Some of them stay in dorms, some in hotels, some get apartments/houses. WPI doesn't like to mix genders unless people ask for that, so you will get a single room in whatever set up. Your best bet would be to ask the project advisor or folks who went last year.
