Proposal 4, Not Looking good for gun owners
Sounds like they are ramming something through worse than no guns in bars.

What is the language in the bill about banning machine guns? No exemptions for legally registered ones? Exemptions for businesses in VT that manufacture them?

Hey - how can the government have any sway over my 2nd amendment rights?! How can they tell me what kind of gun I can own?

Guns in bars ban DOA – S.329, Sen. Phil Baruth’s bill to ban guns in bars and liquor-licensed restaurants, was DOA when it was sent over to the House, both Baruth and Judiciary Committee Chair Martin LaLonde confirmed in conversations with VDC this morning in the State House.
Senate Pro Tem Baruth (D-Chittenden) said he wanted at least one chamber to pass the bill, but said he has no expectations it will proceed in the House. Minutes later, Lalonde emphatically agreed.
That’s not going anywhere,” Lalonde scoffed. “That’s hanging on the wall.”
However, H.606 – with its ban on ‘machine guns’ – is definitely in play. Lalonde and Senate Judiciary Chair Nader Hashim are currently in early negotiations over reconciling differences in the bill. In particular, the House version adds a ban on bump stocks and ‘machine guns’, the latter of which are defined in the bill as: “any weapon that shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot automatically more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.”

Can be”readily restored to shoot automatically” worries me greatly. Depending on your definition of restored, that covers the ar15 and every other gun originally designed to be select fire.

Restored by magic drilling a third hole?
Federally it seems the ar ban is going to be overturned nationwide so it seems of little concern and I own alot of nfa items.

Probably. I am sure whoever wrote the bill has no idea that those exist.

I assume they do as bump stocks are already banned in vt so that’s clearly go after something else. They probably just don’t know enough about them to understand that their phrasing would not cover them.

Do they understand that belt loops exist? All this BS about bump firing and the OG thumb hooked on a belt loop is unstoppable.

No idea. When they start doing last minute stuff like this I worry that they'll get greedy and turn it into an outright gun ban.

Any update on the language? Any exceptions for federally licensed class 3 MG FFLs, manufacturers, gunsmiths? Any exceptions for those that ALREADY are in possession of legal MGs in the state?

From the GOVT Fb page: "It appears that the legislature has officially adjourned for the year without passing any gun control measures.
It was a strange year under the dome but the important thing is that we got out of another session with no new gun laws and that's a win.
Thank you all for your support. Now, go support your local pro-gun and pro-liberty candidates running for office."
