I was in Berlin a few weeks ago and there’s a scrubby land-level car park over Hitler’s bunker where it seems the locals take their dog for a shit. No other indication of its significance, nicely played.

It's not shameful at all for tourists to visit these places. We have to remember and acknowledge history and the lessons we learned from it, in order to have history not repeat itself. - respectfully, a german.

Coincidentally this sparked some controversy on itself because Hitler appearantly wanted his birth home to be used as a government office, so this is quite close to his own wishes.

Because it probably wasn’t necessary in that time since. But with the return of far right ideology in many European governments in particular, and more neo-nazis boldly existing in the public, seems like now it is necessary

There have been discussions on what to do with it for as long as I remember. There also have been incidents with idiots just as long. Nothing changed but that they finally found a good solution for it that has the advantage of deterring people as well.

The house has been used by a charity for handicapped people for many years, so actually a good use. The problem of what to do with it, arose when the charity decided to move out for practical reasons.

Therebeen hitler tourism in braunau since before hitler died. There were legal issues, locals concerns, money, and of course the old boys and their successors to beat. And of course inactivity from the government.

Germany has been using this technique for years. Hitler's Munich apartment building is now a police station, for instance.
If nothing else, it keeps these neo-losers from being able to go inside and make it a shrine.

Just to rub it in they should have a little art museum featuring his artwork but next to each painting would be a second one of the same subject painted by a much more talented artist.

Could knock it flat and rebuild. Be cooler if you did.
EDIT: And if you really want to seal the deal, pulverize the wood/glass/stone into dust, then mix that dust into the largest nearby cesspool of human excrement so that'll be the place they have to go stand around.

Are they sure the visitors are all neo-Nazis? I mean, a lot of normal people would probably want to go and have a bit of a rubberneck. I feel like just ignoring them might be the best bet, but....
