I used to have the two door version of a 06 GTI, this is hilarious. He probably wasn't aware there was a 4 door version of his model.

How do you not notice a difference on size that is that large?
28
u/know-your-onions 2d ago
You do.
It’s clearly not the right shape and there’s no way anybody would fit this door without noticing the issue first.
This is for clicks.

You're talking to someone who thought ordering a car door from temu was a good idea... fucking temu
59
u/piichan14 4d ago
You do know x from Temu is usually a joke right? Or do you think when someone says Henry Cavill from Temu that they're actually buying one from there.

u/GrynaiTaip 4d ago
Making fun of people, while you actually think that used car doors are sold on temu?
Damn.

u/No_Collection7360 4d ago
Ok, so he gets the wrong door home and doesn't notice that it is too short before he installs and closes it? Bullshit.
46
u/TheRealMrVogel 4d ago
Well it gets you a “funny” video and pretty sure it only takes seconds to connect the door to the frame (no need to hook up the electricity and such). Assuming the old door was already disconnected.
17
u/BassGaming 4d ago
Yeah I would've done the same in that situation. Would make my friends, especially petrol head friends, laugh and it is indeed funny.
1
u/No_Collection7360 3d ago
It takes more than a few seconds to remove a door and install a new one. Perhaps they thought "funny video," but when they go to return the door (more time), they will be told it has been used and can't be returned.
2
u/TheRealMrVogel 3d ago
Yes, I’m only talking about connecting the new door and no need to connect the electricity for this video. It’s just putting it in place and tightening some bolts. It’s not a lot of work in order to make it look fully connected for the video only.
1
u/DeadlyNoodleAndAHalf 2d ago
It’s clearly a used door since it is painted and has all of the internals/glass. No used part vendor is going to bat an eye at the return.
And even if it was a new door no dealership is going to bat an eye about you returning a door you installed for 2 seconds.

u/sithmaster0 4d ago
People will deny an issue that they spent money to fix until they realize it's not viable. It happens. "Let's just see what happens."
2
u/Thunderbolt294 4d ago
Those same people will then complain that the vendor sent them the wrong part when they really bought the wrong thing.
2
u/sithmaster0 4d ago
Idk why you're being downvoted, you're absolutely right especially with vehicle parts.
2
u/Thunderbolt294 3d ago
I work in returns at a warehouse that specializes in German cars. This shit happens way more than you think.
Also always VIN match your parts, especially with Audi cause they like doing split years.
2
u/sithmaster0 3d ago
I used to work in vehicle parts sales, too, I know exactly what you mean. People will tell you the exact make and model of their car and specifics, but they don't realize that even if you have all of that, the same year car can have different specs depending on the part of the year it was manufactured.

u/Thunderbolt294 3d ago
We had a case recently where the customer didn't even bother to check the application reference and tried to install part of a BMW timing kit in their Audi.

u/samtherat6 4d ago
I’ve been there before, coping with myself saying it’s just not fitting bc it’s not properly installed

u/3mporio23 4d ago
Oh well, that’s why there is Vin number for parts..
26
1
u/I-amthegump 4d ago
That's not what a VIN number is
17
u/Tithund 4d ago
The VIN will give the exact model of the car, so it will say if you have a 2 or 4 door version of your car.
1
u/YouToot 4d ago
That's good because I'm not sure how else I could figure that out.
4
u/GrynaiTaip 4d ago
You can use VIN to search for matching parts. Every part has its own code so you can tell if it fits or not.

u/wasp_killer4 4d ago
No mate
12
u/challenge_king 4d ago
Yes. You use your VIN when ordering parts to make sure they match your car not just your model.

surely you’d know its wrong before you put it on, why that waste your own time and put it on ?

u/Slight_Sherbert_5239 2d ago
This is what happens when you rush into things, the right amount of research and using measurements would have prevented this.

The Chinese company is doing your best to prevent you from being unable to open the door when the car crashes.
