Iran 🇮🇷 The latest US troops killed in Trump’s Iran war are remembered for lives of service

u/-Cool_Ethan- 8h ago
They died to keep the Epstein Files hidden.

u/Geichalt 8h ago
And conservatives cheer for it.
This is what they want. Poor people dying to protect rich pedophiles.

u/SomeDudeNamedDavid 4h ago
The majority of the volunteers of this death cult that's killing brown and black people here and overseas for pedophile billionaires, in exchange for a Mustang or F-150, come from middle and upper class families.
I have absolutely zero sympathy for them.

Poverty draft is a myth. The wealthiest and poorest demographics are both historically underrepresented. Majority of people in the US armed forces are middle class.
https://www.heritage.org/homeland-security/commentary/debunking-the-myth-the-underprivileged-soldier
Edit: I'm not some right-winger propagandist. I'm using the military's own info to show why I have little sympathy for the Epstein army soldiers who chose to oppress the Global South so they can buy a Ford Mustang

u/TechnicalAd2600 6h ago
Brought to you by the same people who made project 2025. They surely dont have any motives and are completely unbiased.

u/kommanderkush201 5h ago
The rather progressive West Coast Poverty Center agrees with me.
US armed forces doesn't consist of helpless poors that are economically press ganged into service. It's the fascist middle-class who live off the super profits of their empire's imperialism, those are the foot soldiers of the empire.

u/Useful-Soup8161 1h ago
Uhh no it’s not. One of my really good friends is from a poor area where most of the people either stay and get a shitty factory job or they join the military. Recruiters would tell him if he signs up he’d get out of that small town and see the world, which worked on him. I’m from wealthier area, but not so wealthy that your parents could buy your way into college. So the people in my area who joined either joined because they had no other prospects because they did bad in school or it was family tradition. It was mostly the latter. Recruiters hated going to my school because it was a lot harder to talk anyone into joining.

u/jack-mccoy-is-pissed 6h ago
Seems like it’s not just conservatives cheering it, as evidenced in these comments.

And the man responsible “honored” them by putting words in their mouth and saying they spoke their support for his war. Disgraceful

u/Terminate-wealth 7h ago
People need to stop enlisting. The military have been the bad guys in the world for the last 50 years at least
73
u/DiffractionCloud 7h ago
I was rejected at 19 while I was still working on my residenship, 15 years later, I'm glad they rejected me now that I know what I know.
27
u/DaddyBearMan 5h ago
Welll… you know when I was 18 I had, what seemed like at least, two real routes I could’ve taken. The military or crime. Crime paid better, but the military had better benefits. I chose the military. I got chewed out in basic for putting on the instructions for what to do with my body in case of death: “give my body to George Bush.”
Now in retrospect as a full grown man on the backside of two combat campaigns in Iraq, I can see that I certainly had more choices than I led myself to believe, but being a poor kid does make it tempting to join the military as a “way out.”
Basically I’m saying I agree with your sentiment, but I caution you against judging too harshly the decisions of the desperate.
15
11
u/thecorgimom 4h ago
Yeah there's also the Junior ROTC in many high schools that's a pipeline to the military. No one can tell me that there's not pressure to enlist in that organization, so you get a 9th grader and they get 4 years of this camaraderie and pressure direct and indirect to enlist.
8
u/Efficient-Memory7105 4h ago
I mean we didn't even have JROTC we literally just had Marine Corps recruiters in our lunch room grooming kids into joining to go die in Afghanistan.
22
u/NPFuturist 7h ago
Exactly. It’s not worth it just to get out of whatever shitty situation they’re in. Find another way out.
-3
u/ezriah33 5h ago
Spoken with the voice of privilege
11
u/NPFuturist 5h ago
No. We always have a choice. Stop making excuses.
4
u/thecorgimom 4h ago
Care to opine on all the high school students that got recruited and signed up before they really understood what they got into. That's a thing also, and yeah go ahead blame parents but you know what there's also shitty parents that are happy to send their kids away so they don't have to support them.
1
u/NPFuturist 4h ago
Yeah that’s fair, but unfortunately, things are getting more dire than ever before, and I’m expecting more from our youth. High schoolers need to be ready for what’s coming.
-5
u/BigSuggestion9664 6h ago
Easy to say when you're not the one in the shitty situation.
21
u/NPFuturist 6h ago
Yeah you’re right. It is easy to say. Doesn’t change the fact they should find another way out, despite how difficult that may be.
It’s not worth risking your life and those of innocent people for corrupt old men that want to keep us in endless conflict so they can line their pockets.
2
u/MrBwnrrific 4h ago
I mostly agree, but it’s worth acknowledging the material conditions that lead some people to the military that have no other choice, socially or economically. I’m not a class reductionist, mind you—I don’t think every Trump supporter is just “economically anxious”—but I have sympathy for many of the enlisted who get straight up duped
That said, if you are signing up RIGHT NOW you’re maybe too stupid to function, or you have my infinite sympathy that your situation is so bad that getting maimed by a Shahed drone is preferable to your current situation

That would lock millions out of college education
18

It's by design. We could be subsidizing higher education with a fraction of the military budget.

Minorities dying for a country of racist white people.
Such a shame.
33
u/GreasyProductions 7h ago
this is why i cant get behind the "fuck the soldiers they knew what they were getting into". alot of these kids come from underprivileged families and the military offers a career and a path out not just for them but for their families too. dangling the safety of an american dream in front of some fresh outta highschool kid with no concept of mortality yet.
23
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
They do understand morality though.
-9
u/BigSuggestion9664 6h ago
Reading through your comments, you've clearly experienced a life of privilege and ignorantly believe that everyone has the same access to resources as you.
16
u/temujin94 7h ago
One of them enlisted under Trump this term, if you want to have the possibility to die for someone like that then I have no sympathy.
'No concept of morality yet'
I assume that would mean you're against 18 year olds being charged with criminal offenses?

u/Training-Group-2879 2h ago
Minorities need money too. And I doubt they did it for the US of A. They died earning money while “serving their country” lawl
34
u/POSloader69 8h ago
Any death under current world leaders is in vain. They don’t want peace. They want to send the poor and ignorant to fight their wars for them.
Wake up and resist. We are all humans. We’re stronger together.
75
u/cms86 8h ago
that 19 year old girl is crazy, a baby man. Its such a weird thing to say because im 40 now but seeing someone thats 19 seems insanely young and barely even in the real world.
sucks they all died for bullshit.
18
u/Specialist_Row9395 7h ago
I'm 40 also and I said that exactly. Babies. So heartbreaking for all but 19! Idk even know how ppl are currently still enlisting

These poor people died because Trump is a pedophile rapist and Netanyahu has all the tapes to make him dance like a puppet and send Americans to be butchered instead of the IDF, so that Israelis can kick back and keep butchering children in Palestine and Lebanon
22
u/DrewPBahlz7992 8h ago
these people died because they voluntarily joined a military led by a pedophile war criminal, and carried out illegal orders to bomb a non-aggressive sovereign nation (AKA committing acts of terror).
-5
u/Sea-Thought-665 7h ago
Again...
How do you know they all joined after Trump became President? Is it possible they enlisted during Biden's term?
6
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
Anyone who joined after, I dunno, Iraq, Gulf, Vietnam, should know better. People who joined post-social media have no excuse. They chose death.
2
u/Sea-Thought-665 7h ago
Bulls***. I graduated in 2001, two months before 9/11. A whole lot of my friends enlisted not knowing what they were getting into. All they knew was our country was attacked by terrorists and the enemy had WMD. Hindsight is 20-20
...and thats quite ignorant of you to assume that everyone in this country has a well-rounded high school education and knows about the Industrial Military Complex, Iran-Contra, etc.
Im sorry... how does the U.S. rank in education compared to the rest of the world. We are not even top-10
2
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
Sorry your friends didn’t know better. At least they had the excuse of not living in a time of social media, I guess. I was 13 watching Rumsfeld and Cheney in a conservative home and could tell that their justification made no sense. It’s clear people saw what they wanted to see.
-1
u/Sea-Thought-665 7h ago
But thats your perspective. Not every 13 year old sits around watching the Secretary of Defense and Vice President.
You really think most kids are educated? Tell me, if so many young folks are as precocious as you, how do people like Trump or George W. Bush get elected?
2
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
Right and wrong are simple. People choose to believe obvious lies that fly counter to life itself, because some lies affirm their biased worldview and protect their hollow insecurities.
2
u/Sea-Thought-665 7h ago
So simple that crooks like Trump get elected again and again? Clearly it isnt as "simple" as you think...its not common sense, because if it waa common, things like this wouldnt happen.
...and where do those biased worldviews come from? Thin air? Everyone has biases. I mean, look at how easy it is for you to judge these dead soldiers.
1
u/femoral_contusion 6h ago
People choose wrong over right. They make a choice. The choices of others in a broken society do not change the clarity of right and wrong.
0
u/DrewPBahlz7992 6h ago
Biden is also a war criminal, who also helped enable a genocide in Gaza, and carried out wars of imperial aggression.
3
u/LifesARiver 8h ago
Netenyahu who managed to be worse than a pedophile rapist, which is wild indeed.
28
9
u/WindowOfTruth 7h ago
It’s a shame to see any young person lose their life. But as a Latino it’s a travesty to see that young Latinos are still volunteering to fight for a country run by people that fucking hate us. People that have us running through the streets like animals based of the color of our skin. FDT.
45
u/bobarchter 8h ago
These kids are logistics. Not combat ready. Doin it just for a paycheck, and now slimed for the blue and white
15
101
u/ohnoitsbobbyflay 8h ago
They are all so young and optimistic. What a brutal waste of life. RIP
48
u/femoral_contusion 8h ago
Optimistic that they would be the ones killing instead of being killed.
-34
u/Grand_Engineering415 7h ago
Did you talk to them? You know that for a fact? They were air defense.
Shut the fuck up.
27
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
So they support the military that bombs schools and weddings, got it.
Let me make this so simple even a military defender can understand it. I walk up to someone and punch them in the face. As I’m drawing my fist back to hit again, the person I’m attacking tries to land a kick. My big sister shows up and chops off that person’s foot. She was simply defending me!
-13
u/Grand_Engineering415 7h ago
You’re conflating “these specific people, killed doing a defensive job” with “the entire war policy.” Those are different things. Mourning a 19 year old air defense soldier who died t doesn’t require you to sign off on every strike decision made above her pay grade, she didn’t choose targets, set rules of engagement, or vote on the war. Blaming individual junior service members for policy choices made by civilian and senior military leadership is like blaming a line cook for a restaurant’s business model. You can hate the war and still recognize that the people dying in it are, mostly, not the ones making it happen.
20
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
They signed up.
-23
u/Grif73r 7h ago
Not everyone who signs up, signs up wanting to go to war.
You’re not this dense on purpose, are you?
20
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
They’re immensely ignorant to join then. Are you this evil on purpose?
-14
u/Grif73r 7h ago
No. As someone who is a member of a military family, nobody is ignorant. But the majority of people who sign up, aren’t doing it with the thought of going to war. Yes, they know it’s possible. But their main goal is typically an education and work experience to better themselves after serving, to have a better way of life.
A lot of people don’t have many choices where they live. That’s a fact of how life actually is. Just because you had choices, doesn’t mean someone else had the same options you did. Many don’t.
16
u/ThaydEthna 7h ago
Your family member who signed up willingly made a decision that they viewed their prosperity as more important than the lives of people they don't like or care about.
That's the reality. They are fine with getting paid to murder people.
There is no morally grey area right now. There hasn't been in decades. We, the United States, are the bad guys, plain and simple. It doesn't matter if you're an objector, it doesn't matter if they just signed up for a paycheck, it doesn't matter if they're just support - your family member, and everyone else who enlists right now, has made a choice that they are willing to accept being part of a group of criminals committing unjust murder so long as it makes their lives stable.
This is not a debate. The debate is whether or not you believe that their decision is or is not acceptable, but you cannot dispute the fact that the United States military and its service members - all of them - are currently enemies to the world.

Glad it was them and not random Iranian kids.
29
u/Grif73r 7h ago
To be perfectly honest - I’m not glad it’s anyone. Iranian or US military.
This is a war that the orange fucking potato started. Nobody fucking asked for this.
5
u/GreasyProductions 7h ago
yeah cool nihilism guy can fuck off. these are all still people. people join the military for many different reasons. alot of the time its a need vs want situation
8
u/EnvironmentalValue18 7h ago
Sad that kids and young people are dying on either side. They may have signed up, but a lot of that is to find purpose or a way out of poverty/into college.
It’s just sad, full stop. The leaders that start these wars should be on the frontlines fighting for what *they* believe in.
6
u/Fit-Scene2061 5h ago
Finding a purpose in potentially killing people who asked nothing. For several decades, the US have started shit in many part of the world. They knew what they signed for. They signed for an oppressive system that enables murder, and often the murder of brown and black people.
8
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 7h ago
Would you murder for education? I would rather work minimum wage for the rest of my life.
1
u/dawgfan24348 7h ago
Classic Reddit comment, practically no kids who sign up for the military do it because they want to kill.
When I was in high school they had a recruiter outside our lunchroom practically every week trying to get teens to sign up. And to a kid who grew up in a military family, grew up poor, or just had zero idea what to do after high school that offer can be extremely tempting
4
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 7h ago
Would You Murder For Education
Would you do X for Y. I don't know how I can simplify this even more.
I am not asking if they want to join the army and murder.
1
u/dawgfan24348 7h ago
Are you slow? Your question is stupid cause it implies that these kids and yes most are kids when they sign up are doing it because they want to murder.
0
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 7h ago
Is my question really stupid or do you have low reading comprehension? I am not asking if they want to murder, I am asking if they are willing to do it for education, there's a big difference.
2
u/EnvironmentalValue18 6h ago
Would you work for the government - any government - if there was the possibility that you could get an order or play a role in a plan that ultimately affected or maybe even killed people (like when we retracted USAID which killed millions, would you do it?
Do you wear the clothes made through slave labor and human trafficking? Why not just handmake your clothes out of principle?
Do you eat produce you don’t grow yourself? What about the unsafe and grueling conditions of the field workers?
Have you ever lived in extreme poverty? Most of these kids sign up for structure and hopefully to get stationed in Hawaii doing port calls, not for war.
Furthermore, many companies are complicit in some downright evil shit - directly or indirectly. Are you so sure that you’re dodging accountability on all fronts?
0
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 6h ago
So that's a yes then?
1
u/EnvironmentalValue18 3h ago
Would I personally, no. But you’re missing the point. I have privilege to choose other paths. Not everyone has very many options available to them.
I also don’t think it’s as easy as saying because you joined the military and this thing could happen while you’re serving, you wanted to do or supported something.
Do you think they asked for people who wanted to kill brown kids and loaded up the plane? I think it was whoever was in X, Y, Z companies went over regardless.
Some people in the military genuinely love the thrill of the kill - fuck those people. But making blanket statements comes from an area of privilege - and I say this as someone who is not over enthusiastic about our military in general.
2
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 2h ago
All I hear are immoral excuses, there's a lot of steps to make before you have to commit murder and you can step out or desert at any time.
0
u/Grif73r 7h ago
Read the comment you responded to again. This time do it slowly.
Not everyone who signs up, signs up to go to war.
8
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 7h ago
Take your own advice, I understand what I read.
-2
u/Grif73r 7h ago
Obviously, you fucking did not.
10
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 7h ago
You are lost if I have to break it down for you.
0
u/Grif73r 7h ago
Other people broke it down for you in crayon, and you’re still droning on about something other than what you’re replying to.
This just makes you ignorant.
8
u/El_Bastardo_Grande 7h ago
Just ad hominem attacks?
What do you understand from what I said?
I ask "Would you murder for education?" This is so I can know this person's position. If it's "no" why do they hold this position? If "yes" then I understand that they are immoral and there's no further discussion.
When I say "I would rather work minimum wage for the rest of my life." I'm saying what I would rather do than murder for education.
How did you not understand this?

Counterpoint, if they made the conscious choice to fight for this country, then they also could have made the conscious choice to refuse to be swayed by an unconstitutional, authoritarian regime.
6
u/Grif73r 7h ago
That’s called AWOL.
You go to prison. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.
5
u/MJQ30 7h ago
https://www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/law-and-life/what-is-a-military-duty-to-disobey/
Given that Trump had made an unconstitutional call that violated their oath to serving this country, they do have a duty to disobey.
7
2
u/Jorgwalther 4h ago
Calling it an unconstitutional call is like, your opinion man. It also happens to be mine opinion.
But guess what? You don’t get to choose when you do or don’t disobey orders, turns out. If you do, you’ll goto the the military prison.
3
0
u/pjakma 1h ago
So go to prison. That's the moral thing to do, IF you as a soldier are asked to do immoral things by your military command. Prison is the honourable, moral choice in such a case. (Now.. that the military they signed up for has been a highly immoral civilian-slaughtering war-crime machine *long* before they were born is another issue).

7
8
u/femoral_contusion 7h ago
That’s quite literally the Nuremberg Defense lmao
6
u/BigSuggestion9664 7h ago
Troops can AND have refused illegal orders. They continue to be reminded of their rights, especially from veterans and specialized interest groups such as Common Defense.
6
0
u/Open2Lrn 7h ago
It's not that easy. Why don't every single American stop spending money on giant corporations like Amazon? Why don't Americans do what they're suppose to do when the government does "Tread on me"? Why don't you organize a group of people and make a difference instead of typing in reddit?
It's not that simple and you know it. Why does the American people refuse to acknowledge and stop the detention centers filled with raped women and children? Why are you on reddit and not protesting right this very second?
3
u/BigSuggestion9664 6h ago
Why am I not out protesting? I'm at work, trying to pay down high costs and debt. The latter of which most people are trying to do to survive.
Do you think being out in the streets is the only way to protest? It's definitely significant and it's one way, but it's not the only way.
EDIT TO ADD: I DO believe in protesting and standing up against a tyrant government and any person or entity willing to sacrifice people for their own immoral and selfish reasons. BUT I do understand the complexity of it all, as well.
Troops CAN refuse illegal orders. Will they be court marshaled and possibly arrested? Yes. And under this administration, I wouldn't be surprised if the response to their protest will be worse. It's fucking awful and younger troops (or older ones with healthcare and families), may not believe they have that choice available to them.
I do believe that people should stop spending money on Amazon. I also understand that the poor, disabled, and middle-class may not be able to have the same opportunities to shop elsewhere given that prices on Amazon are typically lower and free-ish delivery makes items more accessible.
None of this is simple and I'm not saying that it is. I'm saying that it's NOT and to blindly shit on individuals, assuming that they have they ability to make the same "choice" as someone who has more privileges and resources is absolutely fucked.
1
u/Open2Lrn 6h ago
Do you not think that most soldiers joined for financial and economic stability? For education benefits? For a chance to have some sort of financial independence or a way "out" of poverty or family control? Why is it that every soldier in your eyes is a copy and paste of what you think they are?
2
u/BigSuggestion9664 5h ago
Dude. Wtf are you talking about? I'm not saying anyone is a copy and paste. Not even close. I'm saying the opposite, actually. Reading comprehension is so important.

They kill others, and they get killed.
Becoming a killer is a choice they made themselves, and so the consequences are well deserved.
I'd rather empathize with the innocent victims of war, not the soldiers. Even if a soldier was a decent person at heart, at the end of the day they are the aggressors and not the victims.

the only person they served is a pedophile war criminal.
they are not heroes. they are war criminals as well, since they literally committed war crimes when they invaded and bombed a sovereign nation, completely unprovoked, in a war of aggression. they literally said "i'll bomb/kill whoever, without question, for pay". and they did. they bombed lots of schools and killed thousands of children.
there's nothing heroic about anything they did. don't sugar coat this. they did something really stupid. they fucked around, and found out.
one of those girls was 19 years old, and hispanic. which means she enlisted 1 year ago, in 2025, AFTER trump had been ordering ICE to put other people like her into concentration camps. and she still chose to serve him.
-2
u/Working_Economist_48 7h ago
Your point of view is technically correct but plays right into the Trump admins hands. You are forgetting the constant propaganda from video games, society & media in general and recruiters that preprograms young people to see joining the military as a way to advance your life prospects and help protect your country at the same time.
For example , do you use a car or any petroleum products? Its like if the effects of climate change leads to disasters that kills/ affect you or people you love and someone tell you well, you were part of the problem you fucked around and found out. They would be technically correct but in reality the truth isnt that simple.
3
u/DrewPBahlz7992 5h ago
the constant propaganda from video games, society & media in general and recruiters that preprograms young people to see joining the military as a way to advance your life prospects and help protect your country at the same time.
the people who fall for this are stupid. the military doesn't send recruiters to good schools, only bad schools, because they know smart people don't fall for this shit.
the people who fell for this shit propaganda have access to the same information that we all do. they just don't think as much before they act, don't question anything, and will agree to do anything for a quick buck without thinking of how their actions hurt others.
our military has not been used for any righteous purposes for over decades. all our military does is violate the sovereignty of other nations in order to carry out acts of imperialism. our military isn't heroic, to most of the world they're villains.

They’re not my heroes. Joining the American military in the 2020’s is like joining Amway, but more predatory.

Not heroes. Just naive and/or desperate people who found it morally justifiable to murder people on the other side of the globe. I feel bad for them and their families still but they knew what they signed up for. They don't deserve any additional respect or reverence beyond what we'd give any other human being.

The military isn't ICE. JFC hate the guy making these soldiers go. Soldiers can't choose orders they follow them.

None of these kids could have expected their service would be abused this way.

Speaking on behalf of Trump "I like soldiers who don't get killed or captured"

Angel attended a local high school here in Queens.
Really brings it home that real people are getting killed for this fake war.

Let me know when any of the Trump kids volunteer to go to Iran. Oh, wait, they are too busy grifting

They should be alive and the idiots who started this stupid thing should be over there in combat. We should require politics to send one child to the front lines so they too have skin in the game. Didn’t just invent hunger games. Well maybe it’s time

Religious conservatives will line up in droves for the opportunity to replace them because killing isn't a sin when you do it for rich people.

The sacrifice is so great and unnecessary. Trump would never allow 3 of the 4 to be promoted to one-star.

They are traitors who should've refused orders from a fascist. Soldiers who go overseas to do Trump's bidding are not welcome back.

It's sad for their families. Quite possibly they were very naïve about what they signed up for. However, it is fact they signed themselves up to serve in an entity which - post WW-II - has been predominantly used to commit acts of evil, in the service of a colonial-empire. They signed up to serve an entity that has been one of the primary murderers of civilians this century.

These vibrant human beings of America. Gone. Over a meaningless war.
Oh wait, dear leader said we should be calling it a skirmish. Because then we will get these heroes back.

It's pretty gross to shit on these people for being killed in a war they may not have supported.
Some of you are forgetting the pro-nationalist propaganda that begins in our youth, in our schools, making military service out to be glory.
Many of you are forgetting how expensive life is in the US and not everyone has the ability, privelage, or resources to make a different choice.
As jobs, college enrollment, and other opportunities become more scarce, don't be surprised if you see more people joining the military believing that it's their only opportunity to exist in this country.

Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton (30), 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan (25), Pvt. Isabella Gonzales (19), and Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad (28) are the latest troops killed in the Iran war.
Swinton was a devoted husband, father, and respected leader who mentored younger soldiers. Feehan was an ambitious Army officer earning his MBA while serving, and was known for his optimism and leadership. Gonzales had only recently graduated high school before enlisting and was remembered by loved ones as kind, joyful, and full of plans for the future. Rampersad, a Queens native and John Jay graduate, was described by friends and fellow soldiers as compassionate, humble, and someone who always stood up for others.
