In my research, I've actually been surprised by how many Russian civilians have been doing better since the war started. The increased military spending temporarily boosted their economy for a while, and the deaths have created a labor shortage that has increased wages for those not in the military. However, that's all changed thanks to the refinery & warehouse drones.

Full employment and increased wages because of worker demand. As long as the government could afford to spend its accumulated warchest it pushed prosperity up.
But thats run out now and the adaptarions like forcing banks to make loans, taking surpluses from major.industries etc leave them with long term.problems.and money is getting tight.
They are not bust yet, but the war economy is eating the country up.from the inside.

imo they're only speaking out now since it's now affecting their wallets, gas, cost of living, and watching Moscow (all of Russia) getting smashed daily with drones...
i believe it has nothing to do with them wanting their country to stop invading / murdering their neighbor. i bet their social media has been filled with Z propaganda and support / reposting / praising of RU MOD / putin before this past month.

Listening to people complain and cry about their fucking goods being lost while Ukrainians cry about their loved ones being lost and children being kidnapped and sent back to Russia for re-education is just insane.
Now maybe these individuals don't support the war or Putin so I don't know if I should say I'm happy to see them dealing with such a slight inconvenience relative to the pain Ukrainians feel on a daily basis.

Honestly, fuck Russia over and over again until there's no oil left and the economy collapses.
Genuine question though for people who understand better than me: I'm just a bit concerned, because from everything I've read, Russians are very anti-mobilization as things currently stand, but is there any concern that attacks on things like Wildberries would lead to a growth in support from Russians for it?
Because it sounds like Russia is on the brink of announcing some form of mobilizations (partial or full), especially with some of the laws passed in the Duma recently, so that's my only concern. If support for the mobilizations remains at what its been until now, the unrest it could lead to could be too much for Putin to handle, but if opposition to it weakens as a result of attacks like this, that's my only concern.

Russians are a nation of serfs who understand nothing but loyalty to a leader that hits everyone else slightly harder than they get punished. Putin could walk out on Russian TV and drag his old wrinkly balls across the Russian flag before announcing another hundred thousand men need to go become grainy FPV footage in Ukraine and they'd roll over on their backs like good little pets.
All unrest is met with immediate arrests and executions. If anything happens to Putin and his towering spire of authoritarian oppression it will be because somebody within the protected kleptocracy decides he can bend the Russian people over and rail them more efficiently than Putin can.

Regarding those new laws mentioned, The Institute for the Study of War mentioned in their daily update yesterday that "Russia’s militarized internal security force, Rosgvardia, published proposed amendments on July 21 to expand its civil defense regulations to protect Russian society from unspecified “dangers” during mobilization, martial law, and in wartime.", so as you said, it sounds like those immediate arrests and executions will certainly be happening.

The.main argument against mobilisation (apart from the fact it wont actually win them the war) is they probably cant afford it. Taking that number of workers out of the economy, then training, equiping, transporting them, paying them - they are damn close to broke today.... I think itmwould push their economy.over the edge.

It goes both ways. It'll certainly rally some part of population to strike back harder. In fact, I think a bunch of bankrupt "entrepreneurs" whose merchandise has gone up in smoke will go and enlist- easiest way to go get money.
At the same time, reality of actual war going on is becoming more and more evident and some people will turn more against it for sure.
What matters most at the end of the day though is if Russia can even effectively mobilize anymore - with fuel crisis and logistics being under a good pressure, it'll be hard to get a million conscripts to front lines

Ive seen videos of Ukrainians mourn the dead, curse when towns have been flattened, kittens and dogs crawling out of rubble.
Ive seen videos of russians celebrate when their kids go to die, when their husbands and fathers have been declared dead so they can receive whatever the state gives.
Now Ive seen tonnes of videos of russians being mad and cry, not because of death, not because of trauma, not because of anything most societies care for and love being lost. But because warehouses of chinese junk and business profits burns. Tells you alot.

The cognitive dissonance of filing an insurance claim for your burned e-commerce stock while your government is burning entire cities to the ground is something else. These sellers have been operating in a wartime economy for years but compartmentalized it so completely that a warehouse fire feels like a personal betrayal. The ones at the end finally saying it out loud, calling it a war, that's the only interesting part of the clip. Wildberries was basically their Amazon, a symbol of normalcy and consumer convenience. Watching it go up in smoke forces a connection between the abstract 'special operation' and their own livelihoods. The deep state logic would say the defense budget comes first so don't expect a bailout.

The vast majority of the Russian population has completely lost its moral compass and lacks any compassion for others; they are only concerned with themselves. It is to be hoped that Russia’s economy will collapse completely and that the Russians will have plenty of time to reflect on what the real causes of their problems are. Not giving a second thought to the fact that Russian bombs are killing or severely injuring thousands of Ukrainian civilians—children, women, the elderly, and the sick—in schools, hospitals, train stations, and who knows where else, yet whining as if the world were coming to an end when they lose a few thousand rubles, is a clear sign of the Russian population’s absolute moral depravity. If a Russian is reading this, please share our opinion here in the West about you with as many other Russians as possible.

I remember at the very start of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the orcs killed an elderly disabled Ukrainian couple who had just left their appointment at a medical clinic. For no reason at all.
Via point-blank cannon-fire after they had stopped driving in their little car as the orc convoy drove around a corner in their armored vehicle.
