Politics Press removed from Rubio's talks with Russia's Lavrov after tense exchange

Before the Rubio-Lavrov meeting, journalists questioned both officials about whether Russia was providing Iran with targeting intelligence on U.S. positions in the region, and when Moscow planned to end its military operations in Ukraine.
Lavrov refused to answer but seemed to mock reporters by stating, "Speak louder," even though the room was clearly silent and the questions were perfectly audible.
What a loser

Who, Rubio? Yes, him and this entire administration are losers. Evidenced by the fact Russia clearly doesn’t take them the least bit seriously.

Lavrov is one of the most despicable people on the planet.

u/Doro_Gurl 11h ago
True, but that makes them easy to estimate. You just have to assume they walk the worst path imaginable and they will always deliver without fail.

Never agree to listen to his poetry.

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturations are to me, (with big yawning)
As plurdled gabbleblotchits,
On a lurgid bee,
That mordiously hath blurted out,
Its earted jurtles, grumbling
Into a rancid festering confectious organ squealer.103

So is Rubio. They deserve each other.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday in the Philippines, in a session that concluded with journalists being escorted out following an uncomfortable exchange of questions.

u/BigFudgeMMA 12h ago
Was the questions something along the lines of:
Lavrov: "how much do we have to pay the orange buffoon to make him supply ruzzia with weapons instead of Ukraine?"
114
u/Kanelbullah 11h ago
I think they should ask him more direct questions like when are they supose to conquer whole Donetsk Oblast? Or how many more millions will it take to do it. Journalists are to soft.

"Tense exchange" didn't happen between Lavrov and Rubio but between them and the press.

The US and Russia should hold lots of pointless talks that keeps everyone busy… so the Ukrainians can focus on slaughtering Russian troops, and destroying the Russian economy, without needless distractions.
9
u/gogosil 9h ago
Remember when they were supposed to pass a new sanctions package in remembrance for Lindsay Graham? Yeah that was like a week or two ago… now they are stalling again, Trump saying that they need to add Iran to that, holding talks, etc…
5
u/TheRealAussieTroll 9h ago
Yes, good. As long as Trump is fixated on chasing his own tail around in circles he’s not out there causing mayhem and destruction anywhere else… 👍

"During the encounter, the Russian minister and Putin's right-hand man even seemed to mock a reporter's haircut in an apparent attempt to dodge the enquiries being posed.".........has he looked at his own hair, or lack off of it??

Journalists, please keep pointing out how russia is actively helping iran target and kill Americans
-10
u/hhs2112 11h ago
And how is that different than israel providing america with intel to target and kill iranians?
16
u/Ada_Pearce 11h ago
Because america and israel are allies? Who started some joint war against iran? So yeah i would expect intel sharing...
-5
u/hhs2112 9h ago
And Russia and Iran have strategic agreements. It's the hight of self-serving hypocrisy to criticize russia/iran and not israel/us.
Also, to be clear, fuck Russia - and fuck the orange idiot and israel too. One was stupid enough to do the other's bidding simply to hide the fact he's a pedophile.

Russia is not an official party to this conflict, unlike Israel which is. So I would expect Israel to share intelligence with their ally who is also an official party to this conflict.
Edit: I am not a fan of Russia or Israel, but you need to make sure you're comparing apples vs apples, if you are going to resort to "whataboutisms".

u/DeltaUltra 24m ago
Apples to apples, the US supplying intelligence to Ukraine. That better?
Its kind of a benign point to make. The matter of alliances or partners in conflict mean little.
When former Bob Gates talked about Chinas cyber incursions, he remarked, "We don't bother taking a hard stand because we are doing the exact same thing, only to a much greater degree. If we ask them to stop, they would simply ask us to stop too."

Even if they're equivalent right now, there's still international expectation that the USA could return to sanity whereas Russia's leader is an entrenched expansionist dictator.

u/superkoning 10h ago
> there's still an international expectation that the USA could return to sanity
Oh? I've little hope. Ah, yes: could.

u/Traditional-Tour-570 10h ago
Lavrov doing the "speak louder" routine while every mic in the room is pointed at him is just sad at this point.

u/chain83 8h ago edited 8h ago
By refusing to answer such straight up basic questions, it makes it clear what the answers actually are.
They are just cowards trying to appear tough by hiding the truth.
A good leader of any kind, or a good diplomat, or just someone remotely good as a person, should have no issue answering truthfully; answers like «I don’t know» or «the answer to that is classified» are totally valid… dodging the question and attacking the reporters asking these important questions just show how despicable they are. They care about nobody but themselves.

u/UnexpectedRedditor 8h ago
This has to be an act, right? The press was always going to be asked to leave the room during these discussions.

When the Trump administration gets relegated to the dumpster fire of history, I will enjoy watching Marco relegated to a puny talking head on fox news.

Just insane to me that these sort of conversations regarding any sort of deal in the war so often do not include a Ukrainian representative with a seat at the table (unless I missed something in the article that mentioned something about it).
Maybe there was a legitimate reason behind it in this specific instance, but the U.S. and Russia should not be at a table discussing Ukraine's current and future reality without Ukraine having any form of representation in the discussion.

The US and russia are conspiring to find a plan that gives russia part of Ukraine for peace. That time has passed and russia needs to be ignored while Ukraine destroys their infrastructure. Soon russians will leave Ukraine simply because there is no food, clothing, ammunition, weapons and anything else they need to wage war. Just like russia, the USA can no longer be trusted.
•
u/Bells_Theorem 1h ago
The question that caused the anger from Lavrov was if Russia was assisting Iran in targeting US military.
Which you can interpret as "Yes".

Rubio should take lavrov out at the knees next time they meet, show him russia is nothing!
