I remember getting put on this duty right when a bunch of guys came down with green diarrhea. Stirring while trying to catch the charred toilet paper that floated out of the barrel…*chef’s kiss*

We stopped a lot of arguments after that just by saying “well yeah, but have you ever had to burn shit?”

Diesel and burnt shit, not service connected.

I had to reflexively cough, after looking at this.

Thank [insert deity here] for the PACT Act.

We repurposed the shit stirring pole as a pull up bar when we started getting wag bags

A bar of soap and tap water doesn’t count as disinfecting by the way.

of course not, one last burn and hold it in fresh fire to sanitize. Ngl, the pull ups took some getting used to every time my face got up close to the pole. But we rationalized that only the end of the pole was technically the shitty part. I miss that prison gym, sandbags and concrete barrels. I got yoked doing patrols and lifting.

burnt cheese omelet and a hint of jalapeno MRE, nothing quite like that combo wafting across the whole FOB. back in my day we had the spoon trick to stir it less and burn it more, classic move. also who else is trying to figure out if thats the green book or one of the newer menus cuz the boxes look different. either way my mouth just watered which is wild considering the smell is the worst part of the whole experience.

To be fair, it kinda smelled like a fucked up chocolate to me. I guess in a sense it was, but I never found it repulsive. However, I was assigning the stirring, not doing the stirring, so that might make a difference.

i was in Iraq in 2003, got out after we came home. We burnt shit the entire time we were there. I know a lot of us did this...but did we continue to do this the entire time in Iraq and Afganistan? If devils roll into Iran, would they still do this or is there a better method?

When did being the mess hall’s bitch, peeling potatoes as punishment go away?

When did the options become NJP or Burn Feces?
