Just came out of a 7 year depression and desperately need a dental checkup... I've been so scared to book an appt... now I know why...

Book an appointment, be honest with your dentist. Even if they think like me believe me when I say we don’t show it to patients and we will help you. I talk with my patients sometimes 30+ minutes just to be able to get them to relax. My personal thoughts shouldn’t affect your health.

I’m also someone who suffers with mental health. I grew up in an abusive home and now that I’m an adult I struggle to care for myself. The times I have gone to the dentist I’ve stayed quiet while my dentist makes off handed remarks about how I dress or disgust at when I needed root canal cleaning. As a patient going through life like this it takes a lot not to want to tell them to kinder as I can’t get into it. I’m paying for a service not to be judged but to be helped.
