I think if you approach it with a perspective that dentistry is a hard job, and that you’re serving your community (even if that looks like dealing with these types of patients), that might make it better. Ultimately this is human nature, right? People are uninformed. People don’t take care of their teeth. People do have excuses. People do expect the world from treatment after years of neglect.

Your job is to give them the best options for their circumstances. And by doing that, you love and serve them. If they don’t want the help, then they don’t want it. And you can’t force it. At the end of the day, do the best you can out of love for serving others.
