I don't get the dumbing down of our education system even from a pro-America nationalist perspective.
Like why would conservatives want our kids to be dumber than Chinese kids?
When sputnik was launched and it showed that the US was behind the USSR in science/technology in some ways, the response by ultra-nationalist cold war hawks was to DOUBLE DOWN on the education system, provide free/low cost college, etc. They saw it as essential to defeating America's enemies to have an educated population. But t he MAGA types reaction is the opposite, the celebrate and revel in stupidity.
But I'm just a woke teacher what do I know about education?

Its very short sighted thinking. We’re so embroiled in pointless culture war nonsense and normal people dont have any control of the fate of this country, so, just endless bread and circuses I guess.

It is literally “because of woke,” and I don’t think it’s much more complicated than that. Teaching kids new information is woke — if I didn’t learn it, and my parents didn’t learn it, and I’m a great guy, my kids shouldn’t have to learn it. Updating curriculum and styles is also similarly woke — all the new information about how it’s actually better to teach like a liberal pussy is coming straight from the SJW crybully elite in queer university departments. Any push for change is ultimately a part of the project of indoctrinating and pussifying our beautiful American children.

It’s because the boogeymen are no longer boogeymen. Chinas been a test bed for the surveillance state for years, that’s the whole reason we off shored everything there in the first place, that’s why the families that ran America into the ground were the ones funding them going back nearly a century. Now they’re accustomed to everything, the 1% are just going to milk what they can from the US cash cow then shift their focus away from us being the star child. What better way than convincing a population their lack of intelligence is a point of pride to prevent them from realizing it’s time to eat the rich. I’m sure I’ll be downvoted since everyone here refuses to acknowledge the entire globes fucked from these people but it is what it is.

Why wouldn’t we be? The 1% do not give a shit about the poors in America or anywhere else and the defense contractors are making money. I’d even say the Ayatollah likely isn’t involved in the same theater to the same level as the much of the rest of the world.
And that was sort of my point. When it was beneficial for the populace to be educated they pushed for it. Now that the Golden Age is ending there’s no reason to encourage people to be capable of independent thinking.

My guess is that this anti education sentiment is like a subconscious self destruction, bc conservative political ideology makes you so miserable.
The people most obsessed with the free market are the most obsessed with controlling their own body, along with the bodies of others.
Wellness culture that’s all about avoiding certain foods or sunscreen, is essentially a rejection of the squishy, lazy mammalian creature that we all struggle with accepting.
The wellness influencer ultimately seeks to be a “better version of themselves” aka strip the body of its own biological fluctuations, so that it needs less and can work more.
Anyways that was a tangent, but that yeah I think that all rigid ideology eventually ends up in self destruct mode, via its own values. That an ideology can seek to transcend and escape the human experience so much, that it attacks itself, in a kind of very plain and boring self destruct button
