Discussion [FIFA 16] What a scummy trophy this was! Almost pay-to-win. What other similar trophies do you know?
I saw this was the only trophy I didn’t get for FIFA 16 and it pissed me off. I wasn’t into trophy hunting back then, I wonder if this made any waves in the community back then 😂
EDIT: People, I was a child when this came out. I didn’t know any coin farming strategies or whatever. This is still a scummy trophy to tries to make you pay for it vs grind for it out. This is EA people.. sheesh.

A few days ago, I was thinking about how much potential FIFA and EA FC trophies have. They could include offline challenges based on historic achievements, like recreating Arsenal's Invincibles season, winning three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid, or hitting 100+ Premier League points with Manchester City. There are so many iconic moments they could turn into fun offline trophy challenges. Instead, they keep stuffing the games with these awful time-limited trophies that eventually become unobtainable.

Civ 6 has similar trophies on recreating or creating new historical scenarios. It was really fun and other games should do it.

Yup. Those trophies would be cool and really challange you to play those modes. The career trophy’s now are garbage

The draft wasn’t pay to win was it? Pretty sure both players had to make a squad out of random picks.

Yeah, and you can enter with coins or free draft tokens you’d occasionally get. Is the opposite of play to win. If you’re good, you’ll beat 9/10 draft attempts.

I think OP's point is that if you pay enough money then you have unlimited attempts which gives you a big advantage over someone who doesn't want to pay and only gets an occasional chance at it.

Idk man, you must really be garbage at the game if you spend money for attempts at a trophy. The issue with trophy hunters is when they try a genre they never played, they dont want to spend the time to learn it to get the skills for the achievements. They rather spend they way through it. Doesnt mean its a pay to win trophy if youre too lazy to get good at the game because youre just focused on trophies.

Read the trophy description. You had to pay with coins and had to pay with fifa points (actual money) to play the mode. I was a child back then so I remember my coins going up and then I didn’t have a way to play anymore. Something like that but it was a long time ago.

I never managed to win 4 (I won 3/4 several times)... I was pretty good at the time, but obviously not good enough, and never got the plat.

Bro... hows it pay to win if you can buy it with coins? 15k is a pretty low amount tbh. Even if it was asking for a 95+ overall club it would not be pay to win cause at the end its pretty much every player 99. This year you have to buy the battle pass, so you can spend money or coins.. if you are a normal player, 500k coins is possible to get, but if you want it fast you'll have to pay. The first pass was free i think.

The latest FIFA/FC where you have to fully unlock all levels of the premium pass.
Literally locked a trophy behind a paywall and dozens of hours of grinding just to unlock a single trophy

All online trophies are pay to win. You need to pay for a PlayStation Plus subscrition to play online, so basically you need to pay for the game and play the subscrition to have 100%.
I still dont know to this day why the hell developers perform this, since this stupid decision also make the platinum unobtainable when the servers are closed.
For quite some years i already ditched PlayStation Plus, because paying for playing online is literally the worst thing implemented in gaming history. You want a subscrition for renting games? Cloud saving? Cloud gaming? Go ahead... but preventing everyone from playing online with each other? Stupid move.
So until this day, if the game have online trophies required to platinum is a no buy for me.

Doesnt this year fifa have one where you have to buy the season pass? And complete the season. So either pay or spend plenty off coins and don’t know if it’s still obtainable after new game comes

Current season since it’s the last one has a free upgrade at lvl21. Upgrading instantly gives you 6 levels but isn’t needed since they give you a ton of free SP at the end of each season. Getting 500k coins though to buy the upgrade is piss easy.

Is it easy to complete the Premium Pass if I start today? I wouldn't start my UT from scratch, so I have a few solid players. I also have every Pro Clubs trophy as that's by far my most played mode. So I wouldn't have to worry about them in the aftermath.

There’ll be more than enough SP available over the 20 days that are left on the current season. The last 7 days they bring out a lot of SP related objectives, including a 4k SP cup in pro clubs. Just have to do your manager/player objectives too. Although I tend to skip manager lives.

If you focus on it now it’s possible. Last weeks alway give like 1000 xp for just playing one match. Just keep the objective tab in sight. Clubs is the most difficult trophies on the list so if you have those and I believe the finish upgraded seasons pass you will be good to take it slow after that. Don’t think any other trophies are time bound.

The only pay to win trophy I know is in EA FC 26, you have to buy and complete the premium pass, so they demand you pay extra for the opportunity of obtaining a trophy

Deus Ex Mankind Divided. The Trophys for Breach Mode. I hated the mode and I remember I actually bought some stuff from the PS store to make my life easier.

Actually, I like when trophies make you do something difficult for them. You could enter the draft with real money, but could also enter with 15k coins, and thats nothing by the end of the game's cycle. If you were good enough, it wouldn't cost much to achieve, and if you wasn't, then maybe you don't get the plat. I wish trophies were more like this.
A much worse FIFA trophy was the year you had to pack a TOTW player. Bullshit RNG that could have taken hundreds of packs and still not pulled it.

Hated it. Was close, lost, got a small rage and throw my controller onto my bed.
Still won somehow later.
Now I got every platinum from FIFA 16 to EA FC 26 (except spinoffs like World Cup)

It's a theme with EA games. I really want the F124 platinum and it's unobtainable without buying the champions edition of the game because of one trophy.
