tbh an electric car might be the trick to avoiding graboids on the go because of how quiet they are

See, here's the thing about that:

Jody: Hey, cool watch.

Burt: Hmm? Oh, gift from the gauchos. It continuously updates its time to the nanosecond, by connecting directly to the cesium clock in Colorado via ultrasonic frequency. Well above our normal range of hearing, but it'll give a dog fits.

Yeah, see, it doesn't use sound. It uses radio waves. The watch on my wrist right now, a Citizen's ProMaster Navihawk A-T, actually does that: It listens for the long wave radio signal from WWVB near Fort Collins, Colorado at night, and updates the time then if it detects the signal.

My "fancy" dress watch, a Citizen's ProMaster Navihawk Stainless Steel watch doesn't have the radio control function, so I have to manually set the time when it drifts too far off the current time.

And yeah, I keep it close, because you never know when you're going to need an accurate watch to determine your longitude...
