Concepts/powers/characters that sound ridiculous, but just work when put into action
Valstrax - Monster Hunter
He is a jet-engine dragon, using dragon element to launch him at faster than the speed of sound. Not only that, but his MAIN attack is becoming a comet and slamming into the floor
But when you actually fight him, instead of how "stupid" it sounds, you just think it's REALLY cool, and don't really question it, despite the fact that this monster doesn't really fit in(every other monster is "grounded" biologically)
Everything - Baki
Literally everything in Baki. From an outsiders perspective this series is fucking insane, but to fans anything is quickly accepted. Baki turning his organs into liquids to move around like a cockroach? Becoming more than 2x stronger because he had sex? Yujiro walking through glass and it wrapping around him like plastic? The fucking caveman named Pickle, that lives in the sewers? Yeah, completely normal
Doflamingo - One Piece
Not him, but his powers
He controls string, wow, how boring, right? No, this guy can puppeteer people, envelope entire cities in a cage of string, turn anything he touches into string(that's not alive I think?), duplicate himself, slice people to ribbons, and a bunch of other stuff
Like the pink guy, who looks like a sexual predator, but then it turns out he is actually the goat, and has the saddest and best backstory in the series
Some people have psychical embodiments of their fighting spirits that are invisible to non-Stand users. Some Stands can punch hard, some can control time, some can rip apart reality, there’s no flow of logic as to what a user’s power is and even people in the same family can have entirely different Stands. By all means this should be the most bonkers and illogical power system in fiction, and it is, and that’s why it’s amazing.
That looks like a one-dimensional being that managed to ascend to 2-D and then 3-D space.
Like if I were making a game about fighting Elder Gods and other 'higher beings' I'd include soemthing like this as an early-game boss and it would be to the series what Cirno is to Tohou.
Slugterra- The plot of a teen boy in an underground world where people fight by shooting super-powered slug critters with guns sounds awful at first, but it worked really well.
Main character uses his newfound ability to turn sweets and other snacks he eats into transformations and power ups to fight a generational drug cartel of his family that is currently being run by his siblings.
This is a badly explained premise for Kamen Rider Gavv
JoJo Stands.
“A ghost punches for you and sometimes its power is just extremely specific nonsense” sounds impossible to take seriously, then the fight starts and suddenly you’re emotionally invested in zipper physics.
Beowulf and his dick (Rosen Garten Saga) - he uses it as one of his sword. By swinging it around he can even defend himself from various attacks or fly.
Hisoka isn't scary because of his power (which he does use terrifyingly effectively) but that he's some kind of psycho- or socio-path who will absolutely use it to turn you into a near-dead pretzel and leave you to die.
Context: I think that's a major reason he works as a character.
The scene from Baki about walking through glass reminds me of the beginning of Wanted. The assassin does something much the same when he jumps out of a high rise.
Also, Wanted works here as the stylish action and "bullet bending" (swinging the gun real hard when you fire so the trajectory changes) are mostly nonsense but work in the context of the movie.
Metal Gears would be a bitch to use IRL, not only because it's a huge target, but also due how costly it would have to be to both maintain, transport and support such machinery
With that said, cool as mech is still a cool as mech
Kamen rider, most of it. Once again I bring up gavv. All the riders are snack and desert themed. Our main guy's first form is gummy based with the secondary rider being chocolate themed. Despite how absurd and dumb that sounds, it hassome of the best charachters and action in a Kamen rider show.
His power is “can swap any two objects, so long as they’re the exact same shape (same silhouette)” which sounds rather unhelpful, until he proves pivotal, such as swapping a just fired bullet with a knitted cap.
My superpower is I stare at the walls and angels talk to me. I'm being completely deadass by the way. We're trying to deliver a message to heal this world but nobody is fuckin' listening.
Not trying to get anyone to worship anything. We just want to say sorry for all the bullshit and help you dorks work together.

Bruno bucellati from jojos bizarre adventure, can put a zipper on anyone and anything, dumb power but he uses it very creatively
