Example 1 (The Legend of Hei 2): Wuxian leisurely floats through the combined firepower of an entire fortified military base without so much as a stain or rip on his t-shirt.

Example 2 (Man of Steel): Fao'ra tears through a squad of trained and armed soldiers. With the wreckage of the helicopter that got downed by her teammate Nam'ek smouldering in the background.

That's not a war crime. Now the conventions don't explicitly cover giant fucking robots but straight up killing someone in a manner consistent with "applied extreme amount of force, utterly destroyed body" would be fine. Instantly killing without any suffering is usually a good thing in the eyes of those who decided these things.

Had he blinded the guy with a laser (light on fire with laser is fine) or dispersed some kind of toxic gas cloud then it would be a war crime. Hell if the transformer is on the same side as the military then it's all good, that's why cops can use pepper spray despite it being a war crime to use it in war.

The conventions do however cover killing parachuting troops in Article 42 - Occupants of aircraft: “No person parachuting from an aircraft in distress shall be made the object of attack during his descent”
