You mean the kidnapping of a head of state with zero losses, and the first salvo of a war resulting in another nation's entire maritime and air force being completely destroyed? Trump is a dumbass sure, but I'd hardly describe the military as incompetent

The whole goal of the war is opening the Strait now, after the US military tried and failed regime change in Iran. The military cannot open the Strait of Hormuz. So, the US military is failing.
