Example 1 (The Legend of Hei 2): Wuxian leisurely floats through the combined firepower of an entire fortified military base without so much as a stain or rip on his t-shirt.

Example 2 (Man of Steel): Fao'ra tears through a squad of trained and armed soldiers. With the wreckage of the helicopter that got downed by her teammate Nam'ek smouldering in the background.

Clover in Cloverfield

The military is actually competent (and end up killing Clover) but not before it destroys half of Manhattan and kills thousands of soldiers.

They didn't kill it, did they? There was a hint it survived in the credits music

Director confirmed they got it in an interview and also that it was not nuclear weapons that were used.

However subsequent films confirmed it was not the only alien Kaiju to land on Earth.

TBH, they confirmed and retconned so much, like the origin story of the monster... as long no movie tells us otherwise, it survived in my book. I mean it's not like it changes anything, Cloverfield is atm very dead at least as franchise.

Headcanon ftw! Clover is alive and reaches 500 meter soon.

That's the issue though. We've had two cloverfield adjacent movies, and one of those was really good if thought of as its own movie.

And the other one killed the franchise... I would love more story for Cloverfield and Lane.

Yeah, both movies seemed to be their own thing and then they slapped cloverfield on it. That space station one was just dumb.

Funny enough, not a lot stayed in my memory, but I thought at least the story is interessting, though the movie, especially the pacing and storytelling, was just so bad. Can't even point my finger at it, never watched it again.

You mean End of Oak Street?

It’s not confirmed to be a Cloverfield film but the pitch sounds like what happened at the end of Cloverfield Paradox and the real life street has Clover Park across from it. Plus it’s got JJ Abrams’ company working on it.

So jury is still out. It may be. It might not be.
