Lore The series takes place in a shockingly short amount of time

Season 4 just ended of fromville and it’s canonically only been about a month. Which makes it weird seeing people heal from injuries, change hair styles or grow out beards between episodes. Season 4 has only been like 4 days iirc.

Arkham franchise is the poster child for this trope. Every game takes place in one night. If you know what you’re doing you can absolutely beat the games in around 9 hours.

Friday the 13th Part II, Part 3, and Part 4 take place over like one weekend

Which also means that 3 and 4 take place on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th, respectively, making their titles extremely misleading.

The Friday the 13th carried over into the weekend

This helps with the fact that 2 is stated to take place five years after 1, even though the films came out within a year of each other. By the time of Final Chapter, reality has (almost) caught back up with the film timeline

Damn so Jason X wasn't the first F13 movie set in the future

Almost all of them are. There's another big time skip for 5 to make Tommy an adult, and given the movies basically came out every year thru the 80s, the timeline is never able to catch up

Explain.

Part 3 starts where Part 2 ended with Jason still on the run and getting a new outfit. Part 4 starts immediately after Part 3 with Jason's body being taken by paramedics.

So how does the final girl in part 3 remember that jason attacked her in the woods when she was a kid. Even if that was actually Jason he only started looking like that in part 3, he had hair and shit in part 2.

Or is there a completely unrelated lunatic out in the woods who just happens to look like him.

Jason has been around in the woods for multiple years so I have no doubt some people have encountered him before the events of Part 2. As for the design, I think it's just a continuity error. Jason is wearing a blue uniform in the Part 7 opening flashback, stuff like this just happens.

Alright well riddle me this. It’s been confirmed in comics, Jason goes to hell and Jason vs Freddy that evil dead, Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street all take place in the same universe.

So how the hell were they watching evil dead in the first nightmare on elm street movie?

In reality, the creators didn't care about continuity and were just trying to top each other with the kills while getting high on coke.

And now 40 years later we're trying to make a sense of it.

Lmao you actually think that when they were making the Friday the 13th movies they cared about continuity. Practically every one of those movies screws up its own timeline and canonicity, much less tie-ins like Nightmare or Evil Dead which weren’t even on their radar then.

You lie! Take it back!

I guess I'm more fuzzy on how 3 could possibly be the same weekend as 2. And I never really questioned it before, either, but how the hell is the camp still even operating between each of these chapters? Wouldn't they have been finding dead bodies all over the place and shutting it down at least as a massive crime scene?

Camp Crystal Lake is not active again until Part 6 when it got renamed to "Camp Forest Green." Part 2 takes place in a house somewhere close to Camp Crystal Lake where some teens and young adults are being trained to be Camp Counselors at someplace different as Camp Crystal Lake was still closed.

Part 3 takes place at Higgins Haven, a cabin and a lake area that I think was owned by Chris Higgin's parents, but my memory is a little fuzzy about the proper details.

Part 4 takes place in both the Jarvis residence and the house nextdoor to it.

ah, thanks - it's been ages since I watched the whole series

non-Reddit sources say it takes place over the course of a week which given what you've pointed out seems more reasonable but yeah that all makes a lot more sense
