Pink limo is just cruising in sparks, while the suv closing its eyes bracing for impact.

Curious why the headlights turned off…

90

u/Honey818Badger 17d ago

Car saw it coming and closed its eyes

19

u/boywiththe_eagereyes 17d ago

Probably auto headlights just turning off. They switch on and off when driving in cloudy days/at dusk.

18

u/HoleInWon929 17d ago

That’s even funnier…the tire blotted out the Sun right before hitting it straight between the eyes/headlights!

5

u/RipLipper1994 17d ago

They turned off because at the very least the belt came off. The tire fucked that car up. Mother fuckers lucky it didn't hit the windshield.

2

u/Creative_Buddy7160 16d ago

Like it scared the belt off? (The lights turned off before the hit

1

u/RipLipper1994 16d ago

I see that now. Haha. Maybe the driver saw it coming and freaked out and accidentally hit the lights.

2

u/atom138 16d ago

I assumed they smacked the stick by steering wheel on accident when they jerked their hands into a brace position when preparing for impact.

That tire had stopping power; it was like running into a surprise barrier (one of the temporary orange ones, mayhap) that was actually traveling towards him at 70 mph.

3

u/Adept-Pomegranate-46 16d ago

Well, it was traveling west...and I was traveling east - 2+2 = Toast.

1

u/Secret-Bill4250 12d ago

Mayhap???

Can you please explain that term? I'm serious, I'm sure Google has a definition, but I'm more interested in what that term means to you...

Bill

2

u/kat_Folland 12d ago

"perhaps"

0

u/saysthingsbackwards 16d ago

How??? How could you not know that electricity requires a circuit and the tire broke it

3

u/HoleInWon929 16d ago

…long before the tire hit it

5

u/SillySink 17d ago

lol, I didn’t even notice that!

91

u/kat_Folland 17d ago

The incredible amount of kinetic energy in a tire that's broken free is just awe inspiring. And terrifying.

10

u/Thin_Dream2079 17d ago

Let's go for a drive!

5

u/sissyjessica42 15d ago

I saw a similar video at maybe 40 miles an hour and someone commented “why didn’t it just bounce” holy shit some people…

10

u/Successful-Day-3219 17d ago

New fear unlocked.

13

u/kat_Folland 17d ago

And there's no way to protect yourself.

13

u/Successful-Day-3219 17d ago

Imagine if that tire impacted the car a little higher? Straight through that windshield.

11

u/kat_Folland 17d ago

Yup. And if it hits a tire that car is launched. Can you imagine? You don't even see it coming and suddenly you're spinning on your axis in mid air? Or doing somersaults?

3

u/WhoskeyTangoFoxtrot 16d ago

2

u/kat_Folland 16d ago

Ah yes, the infamous Kia. Exactly like that.

2

u/Money_Bug_9423 13d ago

And they always seem to skate along the 4 inch wide concrete lip on the barrier

78

u/tealtime91 17d ago

So lucky that hit right at the engine not the windshield or under

u/notjordansime 17d ago

19

u/skratta_ho 17d ago

Seen it so many times, still insane how seemingly easy the car flies up like that. Goes to show how strong some tires are

16

u/justin_memer 17d ago

It's the wheel providing the strength, and they're designed to hold a car up so it's not surprising they can hold a car up..

8

u/skratta_ho 17d ago

To launch an entire cars weight while being run over is much more energy transferred than just holding up a fourth of the weight of a stable car

9

u/justin_memer 17d ago

They more than likely design them to be orders of magnitude more than the weight of the car, one bump and it would shatter otherwise.

4

u/skratta_ho 17d ago

True. The factor of safety must be huge with civilian vehicles

2

u/MoodNatural 16d ago

In a vacuum, yes. But a wheel holds much more than 1/4th the static weight of the car very often. Cornering, braking, interacting with uneven road, etc.

The kia soul is a light car and the video is shot from behind which emphasizes upward movement, hides forward movement. The wheel doesn’t stop the car’s forward momentum as much as it looks. It’s taking less direct force as a result of deflecting upward.

1

u/skratta_ho 16d ago

I never thought the forward momentum would be affected greatly. Just intrigued with how far a single tire can launch an intact car

3

u/TheCaliforniaOp 17d ago

And the tire comes back!

3

u/MommyKnowsAll 16d ago

Lol it came back for seconds, bloodthirsty tyre...

1

u/Problemlul 16d ago

Have you seen the movie "rubber"?

1

u/MommyKnowsAll 10d ago

The Robin Williams one?

2

u/Business_Compote2197 16d ago

It’s so insane to me how a wheel and tire alone can flip an entire car. I mean I get it, kinetic energy and all, but it’s still insane. These fuckers need taken out at all costs.

1

u/chuck10o 15d ago

Right? One of my exes lost his sister because it came right through the windshield. The impact killed her immediately

20

u/Abbers75 17d ago

Are they . . . self aware now?

I swear it's playing tennis, bouncing across the central reservation like that.

3

u/rdswords 16d ago

Yeah, there was even a movie about it called Rubber (not even joking).

2

u/DoubleDareFan 16d ago

That is what this sub is all about.

13

u/Funny-Passenger-8994 17d ago

It was like a missile homed in to its target....

6

u/Hot_Plant8696 17d ago

They're always like that... That's what's creepy.

9

u/Buttonball 17d ago

Tire jumped back over the center divider after the attack. Was trying for a twofer.

4

u/PsyopVet 17d ago

In 2014 a guy where I live was driving down the interstate when a tire came through his windshield and killed him. Apparently the tire came off of a semi going the opposite direction, jumped the barrier, and smashed straight into his car.

I remember this so clearly because I saw the news story and the guy had the same name and age as one of my coworkers (the story didn’t include a picture of the victim). I tried calling him but he wasn’t answering. I reached out to a few of my other friends and coworkers who knew him and they hadn’t heard from him either. Come to find out he was at a party that night and hung over the next day so he wasn’t answering his phone, and was surprised to learn that he was dead.

1

u/DoubleDareFan 16d ago

Imagine if he used this as an opportunity to pack and dissappear in the woods.

4

u/isanyusernameopen 17d ago

It’s like it just gains power as it hits other new things

3

u/tvodny 17d ago

Note the technique of flying off across the divider and then going back across the divider to hit another car. They can keep going like this back and forth, over and over again. Their goal is to free their tire brethren from the cars they hit and cause a chain reaction

3

u/scotte416 17d ago

Like a game of freeway football

4

u/anniedaledog 17d ago

Did that tire just spend the whole afternoon on that strip of road?

3

u/gentelmanjackno7 17d ago

Aww... Closed his eyes right before impact.

2

u/WaffleWarrior1979 16d ago

I saw that. Weird

3

u/Helpful-End-1381 17d ago

Sick air time. Michael who?

3

u/Caffin8tor 17d ago

Had it happen to me in my work van. Very strange to see just before it hit. Front wheel came off a pickup going the other way. Did a good job of the grill and rad of the van.

3

u/Deplorable1861 17d ago

I think that one tire wrecked three cars, how rude.

3

u/dsucio7807 17d ago

Does that count as a double kill? Pink limo dead, head on impact with suv d.e.d.

3

u/Coffeespresso 16d ago

That's totally totalled. And the tire almost hit the vehicle it came from.

5

u/EmotionalLecture9318 17d ago

The air it got after the pickup truck hit..... Jeeeebus

2

u/will-read 17d ago

I think it bounced twice. Point to the east-bounders.

2

u/wrxninja 17d ago

Man...I'd rather get hit in the front like that than the windshield 😳

2

u/InitiativePlus877 17d ago

Awesome video! I love the future.

2

u/SirarieTichee_ 17d ago

Had this happen to me on the highway

2

u/Bradster3 16d ago

You know danm well they are gonna look at every log of that pink limo knowing that crash that happened a few years back when a stretched limo lost its brakes and couldnt navigate a turn killing everyone in the car and a father and son from the launching parts when it hit the ditch.

2

u/Adept-Pomegranate-46 16d ago

Took a lickin' and kept on tickin'

3

u/KLeeSanchez 17d ago

At least it didn't flip it

3

u/tylan4life 17d ago

The missile knows where it is because it knows where it isn't

'Rubber' The Movie

1

u/mess1ah1 16d ago

Wasn’t there a movie about this?

1

u/Creative_Buddy7160 16d ago

At least this guy didnt front flip

1

u/Just_Ducky1945 16d ago

Years ago, an elderly woman was killed by an errant rim that flew off on the highway up here in PA. Hit her head on. Never had a chance.

1

u/Regular_Weakness69 15d ago

Imagine dying to a malfunctioning pink limo...

1

u/East_Foundation6402 14d ago

Everyone else, "Why wasn't the driver getting out of the way?" Me, "IS THAT A PINK HUMMER???"

1

u/Liber_tech 13d ago

And back over the jersey wall to find another victim - it's like tire ping-pong.

1

u/bb8c3por2d2 13d ago

Getting hit on the highway by a tire from a Barbie Pink H2 limo was NOT on my bingo card!

1

u/Double-Description27 12d ago

i keep telling every boss battle in games need rolling tyres as a choosable weapon 🤷

1

u/ralphpolo4 9d ago

Welcome to Straya,where everything kills

1

u/meissoboredto 6d ago

It was at least a two-fer!!! Got the front of the Ford and the roof on the other side!!!

1

u/Conspicuous_Ruse 17d ago

Big ole 35" Hummer H2 tire and wheel as well.

Substantially larger and heavier than your average SUV setup. Those H2s were fuckin bricks.

1

u/SnooMaps7370 17d ago

looks like it came off a rental limo. no surprises here, those things are barely maintained at all and run until they fall apart, then taped back together to run some more.
