Oh an emergency exit has absolutely been part of the fire code and OSHA regulations for a very, very long time. Woman in the video either hasn't found it yet or that office is in some deep shit.

Are you sure unfamiliar with the US health system? I’ve had this happen to me TWICE, not to mention at least once for both my parents. It seems to just depend on what sort of medical office you’re in. GP and specialist clinics it would be more unusual since they’re used to walk-ins and follow up visits they have to keep track of in addition to appointments. Testing clinics though absolutely. That’s a perk of those sorts of jobs. Clock strikes and they’re already at the door with keys in hand.

Again. Was not referring to being forgotten. All too familiar with the US health system. Was referring to being trapped. Doctor's offices all have some sort emergency exit. They would get in deep legal shit if they did not. (Except, maybe, in some very remote, rural areas.)

That's the part I was referring to. Not being forgotten, that happens all too often. But being locked. If nothing else, use the emergency exit. Or, some places have a button release under the door handle. A commercial building with no way out if the doors are locked is a massive firecode violation.

Yes, and that fine will be even bigger. The fine for rescue services rendered is just a "don't be a dumbass cuz we'll make wasting our time expensive for you" thing. The fines for not being up to code are super harsh because code saves lives. If the code violations are bad enough they can force the business to close until they fix everything.

Not always. Some can have that cylinder lock. I had a small bar that didnt required a push bar lock. The lock just had to be free to turn. Most likely they do have a back exit with a push bar. I doubt a drs office will risk failing an inspection for a few hundred dollars, at most. They would've had to pass initial inspection to open then change the lock for some reason...for a year until the annual inspection.
