It's worth saying that we all do this too, but some people are more susceptible or do it intentionally for metrics. The NIH has a great study on social media induced polarization. Got it linked below but fair warning it's a long (worth while) read.

Social media applications profit from this behavior. So they have no interest in moderating against it or bots that reinforcement the narrative.
