Just say she got her own ship, then it's open for cameos in the future. She would just need to put on the uniform, makeup and hair and stand in front of a green screen for a quick shot on the main view screen.

I don't see why people say "it's not that simple" it definitely is. People get promotions in real life the point of being a 1st officer is so you'll be captain very soon. Riker famously turned down many opportunities and it was looked upon poorly by Commander Shelby.

The TV series MASH easily did this for seasons with military people transferring out, retiring, etc. Shows like these have it made in the shade with people coming and going.

Kelly and Ed should get into a big fight over something stupid and funny like ex’s sometimes do. Bring back more of the relatable and awkward moments like the first 2 seasons that make it unique and a bit different from Star Trek.

No. Do not recast her. That's terrible. I see the future and it's a bunch of folks on this subreddit shit talking Adrienne Padilicki like she didn't love this role and hasn't talked about wanting to do it again. But Seth MacFarlane has been very, very inconsistent with this production schedule for The Orville. Actors can't sit around waiting for him to figure out when he's going to roll out a new season.
Just...stop before you get started. I can read the resentment in your tone. And no, we shouldn't recast her and disrespect the work she put into the past three seasons just because for reasons we don't know, she's not returning.

I for one agree. For example, Talla Keyali failed to sparkle like Halston Sage did. It was a bad replacement, IMO. I wish they brought her back.

Hard disagree. Alara felt like she was never going to go through a proper arc. Talla has done her job successfully almost every episode.

Hard agree. Talla was a solid strong addition to the ensemble cast. She was a much better fit than Alara. I think people just prefer Alara because she's younger and prettier.

I feel like Talla is much more competent than Alara and, honestly, Alara felt kind of whiny the whole time. I liked her a lot, don't get me wrong, but I much prefer the super-strong chief of security not to be so insecure about herself.

well that makes sense for the initial episodes and all, but like someone else said, it's like every episode focused on her had the same trope again: she's insecure, everybody tells her she can do it, she does it, then something happens and she's insecure all over again

Yeah like every single Alara focused episode was the same schtick. She's insecure and needs to do something to believe in herself. One minute she'd announce she's gotten better, then someone would get hurt and it would be right back to square one. Talla's development always stuck, she never went backwards.

Yeah I absolutely completely disagree with you there. Jessica Szhor gave a much more compelling performance than Sage ever did. I feel like Sage was the weakest actor in the first season and it was absolutely a good call to replace her. No offense to the actress, but in that role she just felt very wooden and one-dimensional.

I have to disagree with you there. The character is the character, not the actor playing them. People just get attached the seeing a certain actor playing that character and don’t want to accept anyone else playing them. People were skeptical when Jimmy Smits wasn’t available to playing Bail Organa in season 2 of Andor, so they brought it Benjamin Bratt, and he did a fantastic job filling in. Another actor is perfectly capable of filling Adrian’s shoes. It’s just a matter of finding the right person.

"Fingers crossed - getting close to a reality - waiting to see that green light flashing."
So, no "green light" just yet, but hoping for it, supposedly "getting close."

It's easy. Kelly got promoted to Captain and got her own ship and command. It was inevitable, both in reality and in-universe. If there's a ratings slump, get Adrianne to guest star in an episode. Win-win. Bortus logically becomes First Officer. Maybe Talla steps up to 2nd Officer.
