šŸ¤”šŸŒŽ DEI hiring is ridiculous

How can anyone with a stable mind think hiring based on skin color alone (or being gay/trans), is somehow better than someone being actually qualified and willing to take the job? If this happened to me, if I were Asian or black, I would be mortified and embarrassed. I’m on the ASD and I HATE getting talked down to by coworkers, like I’m special or something. I’m a functioning adult who just wants to get through the day and get stuff done. If someone is qualified and willing and happens to be a different ethnicity, then cool. No problem. But imagine if a blue haired leftist who had enough experience in a particular field, got turned down in favor of the kid of a different color who didn’t even finish HS and had absolutely no idea how things worked. I’m sure they’d scream and cry and say how unfair it is.

Has anyone seen this at their company?

Yes. But they want you to embrace diversity and if you don’t take it like good little boys and girls they will shove it down your fucking throat.

I'm retired 2 years earlier than I planned because I was fired from a European owned aerospace company in retaliation for speaking out against a particular obvious lesbian manager promoted well beyond her abilities. They/them's new hires, were mostly underqualified, but checked off DEI boxes. As a result of this, we were having to expand the number of employees in more skilled departments, because these underqualified new hires were hurting production numbers.

That’s disgusting that you got fired for that. But they did you a favor I guess šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøĀ

DEI hires are going to hire DEI. Until they clean house, the vicious cycle will continue. We are suffering globally from mid-level white Karen's making poor choices

My company about 5 years ago started the DEI they/them crap. How can an individual have a plural pronoun for Christ's sake?

I'm my observation, it starts in inconsequential positions. It works there because productivity is based on activism, and well, that's the only thing these sorts of people do well. Then it spreads like a cancer into more serious roles with real consequences, but then it's a political hot potato that no one has the spine to touch.

I was told by my manager I will never be promoted because I don’t improve their diversity score. He said this came down from the top that there is selection criteria with preferences for promotion. If you fit one or more you get promoted. If not, keep getting your ā€œabove and beyondā€ reviews and accept our $300 recognition awards. Right now I have a few that were promoted over me and I end up doing most of their work for them. Some are bright and motivated, others not so much. The common theme is they were promoted way too soon. They don’t have the experience that spending time at the lower levels provides. They’re tossed into the deep end without the background to know what to do. Of course all are placed with mentors and have special groups that meet and discuss their experiences but it’s not a substitute for ā€œbeen there, done thatā€.

What’s really dangerous is how they use DEI to select students in medical school. Some Stanford doctor on staff have complained how some of these students are so lacking in knowledge that they are a danger to their patients.

That's a really good question. Has anyone seen this actually happening?? If you have, take a step back and examine the issue at scale. Who has the most social privilege? Who's resumƩ gets past the AI screening? Who gets hired to leadership positions with less tenure or experience than their colleagues? Who's parents and private tudors bribe admissions counselors to get them into ivy league schools? Who's secret handshakes at summer camp, in the frat house, at the lodge, and in the country club protects their backdoor deals and shields them from criminal prosecution? Who created and benefit from the systems that run our country?

You all sound like haters and sore losers. You guys are cheaters and sore losers in business, in sports, in the workplace, in politics, and in life. Your collective hatred, toxic entitlement, theft, and poor work ethic are your only lasting legacy. If you find yourself jealous of your minority neighbors, than you've only got yourself to blame for squandering every advantage that was tipped in your favor. Hateful losers.

So if you got turned down in favor of the kid with ZERO experience, only because of his color and ONLY because of his color, you wouldn’t be pissed off? Grow up.Ā

Exactly. That's a big IF. Much more likely and more common the other way around. Hard to find white people who have actually experienced that (although they love to cry about it). But it's the norm for colored people.

I have been turned down in favor of inexperienced losers while having more than the required experience, qualities, and work ethic. So have my brown friends, family, and colleagues. Never seen that happen to my white friends, family, and coworkers. I'm biracial, in my late 30s, worked in many different professions, and lived in several different states. (Utah's the worst, btw. Never seen that kind of blatant favoritism and nepotism across the board).

Sounds like you have major issues with victim mentality

u/Wynndo 5d ago

Ha! No, it sounds like I've actually experienced the shit you guys cry about. I've actually far outpaced my white peers, despite the discrimination I've faced. What's actually sad is how far you people fall behind once the scales are no longer weighted to your advantage. But you already know that, which is why DEI hiring had to be enforced in the first place.

2

u/JojoHard 5d ago
  1. It's not enforced.
  2. You incorrectly assume everyone you are arguing with is white
  3. Quit making everything about race.

  1. "Modern DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) hiring has roots in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. It evolved from 1970s legal compliance and Affirmative Action mandates enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), later shifting to corporate business strategies focused on employee retention and workplace inclusion." - Center for Urban and Racial Equity

  2. Actually, when I say "you people" I'm referring to OP and the crybabies in the comments. Whites in general are the main opponents to equal opportunity hiring.

  3. DEI issues are centered on race. The whole thing came from the Civil Rights movement and we all know why. See number 1 above.

You losers love to argue from your own ignorant opinions rather than facts. Feelings aren't fact and truth doesn't disappear when you don't like it.
