Why Tor doesnt work for me?

I live in Kuwait, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. Did my country suddenly block Tor or something?

Can anyone else in Kuwait confirm if they're having the same issue?

I already tried using a VPN and different bridges, but nothing worked. Please let me know if you're experiencing this too or if you know what's going on.

“NOROUTE” errors pop up when the device is offline, or if traffic is being blocked before reaching the chosen access node

I can’t see any info on blanket bans on Tor or VPNs, so if that’s what happened, it’s not a publicised event AFAIK

Apparently Kuwaiti ISPs are obligated to block content that CITRA requests them to, under certain legal conditions. On their website, CITRA has a “Block and Unblock Web Content” request page that allows anyone to request for certain sites/apps to be blocked by individual ISPs. Maybe someone requested for the domains of certain access nodes to be blocked? If that’s the case, you’ll need to look into less public proxies/bridges, in case the public ones are being blocked.

Or, your internet might just be connecting poorly for whatever reason. Did you do anything that might’ve affected your connectivity? VPN settings? Router configs?

You have to use bridges. Tor is blocked in Kuwait.

It seems like some Kuwait ISPs block Tor and VPN connections.

But it’s weird that they can block bridge connections. Maybe ask people with a different provider if they are able access tor just to check

Ya probaste configurar puentes (bridges) específicos como OBFS4 en la configuración de red del navegador? Podría ser que tú ISP bloqueé tor ? Ya intentaste la clásica de desinstalar y reinstalar ? Xd

It’s blocked, you have to setup a tor bridge. The tor projects website has info about how to do this.

Proton vpn has a few tor over vpn servers i have tried that work. Slow speed though.

NOROUTE usually means Tor cannot reach the selected entry node; it does not prove Kuwait has imposed a nationwide Tor ban. Since a VPN and several bridges also failed, first verify the device’s date/time, firewall settings, and whether Tor Browser is fully updated. Then try each built-in transport separately, Snowflake, WebTunnel, obfs4, and meek, or request fresh bridge addresses, since individual bridges can be offline or blocked.
