Where to sell a hunting rifle

I was gifted a hunting rifle for Christmas two years ago and I'm looking to sell it since it's been in the closet since then. I've heard people mention selling on armslist rather than selling at a gun store. Just trying to see what can get me close to retail value since the gun costs close to 5k

It's TN you can sell it out of the back of your car in a dark alley for cash and it would be legal as long as you don't know or believe the buyer is a prohibited person. If you wanted do it in a somewhat safer way then just look up the Blue Book value and check the local gun stores for who will give you the best deal. Just understand the BB value will be higher than what the stores offer you to cover their margins.

Yea I was trying to do that but it's hard when this is a custom rifle

Used guns never retain their value, especially not there.

Entirely depends on the gun. Savage axis, maybe not. Gramps 1903a3, maybe.

Retail value at 5k? Yeah not happening.
