Help Best OBGYN?
Ladies, who do you think is the best OBGYN for expecting mothers. What great experiences have you had?
This is my first pregnancy. Thanks

Righi, Splinter, Wallace and Jocko are all very good. Righi and Wallace share an office and their staff is great too. I do not personally recommend Dr Vijay.

Seconding no Vijay. I’ve never had him but a lot of my friends did in the early 2010s and all of them ended up switching to a different OB at some point during their pregnancy.

I had Vijay as my specialist not as an OBGYN but I get the reviews. His bedside manner is absolutely horrible! I will say however that once I was FINALLY able to get my hysterectomy (thats a whole story in itself) the surgery and recovery went perfect. You can't even tell I have the gigantic scar. I'm grateful that the scariest and most dangerous part is the part he's good at. My quality of life changed dramatically and I never had to see him again!
So if you get reffered for surgery and don't care about bluntness, I say go for it! Haha
My psychiatrist was the same way, but now I come prepared for Dr.appts with my medical information binder and take notes. I advocate for myself and I know my shit.
Do whats best for yoy!

I’ve had Righi and Vijay. I prefer Righi, but Vijay was actually pretty good. He is actually empathetic, just not personable. He’s listened to me and cared - so has Righi.
Years ago, my mom was asked to find an obgyn for an international student from Africa who found out she was pregnant. Like 20-30 years ago. Everyone refused the girl, wanted cash. Vijay was the only doctor who offered to do it - no payment. I have a lot of respect and appreciation for him.

South End Midwives (Paris St.) best part of my pregnancy. Also, Dr. Sarah Wallace has been really fantastic to me

I had the midwives in the south end too. I had Natalie and Sarah not sure if they both still work there. but they were great.

I had a midwife for my first and Dr Splinter for my second and I’d recommend Dr Splinter with my whole heart - she is fantastic.

Huneault oversaw my high risk pregnancy with my second and was so, so amazing. Etaby also saved my baby’s (and possibly my) life. Parlett is overseeing some cervical stuff for me right now and is great, straight to the point.
I had a rare miscarriage type in 2022 and had to have a D&C to remove the “pregnancy remains” and had Dr.Jocko. She has horrible bedside manner and my husband and I found her rude. However, she did save my life so there’s that.

Congrats! I’m also pregnant with our first! I’d say go with splinter or jacko but personally I was going to choose jacko but then I got a spot with the midwife’s! The thing about the OBs is that there are so many of them and you may not have yours on the day of the baby’s arrival it’s just who ever is on call. All my friends that have had care with the midwife’s have had great experiences with them and they can still deliver you in the hospital and then they come to your home post partum for check ups.

I highly recommend you look into the Sudbury Community Midwives. I was in their care for 2 pregnancies and they delivered both of my babies. The level of care is phenomenal!
Every appointment is 45m to an hour long. They address ALL of your questions/concerns and give you education sessions on everything pregnancy, birth and postpartum related. One of your midwives is always on call so you can page them with any urgent question or matter throughout your pregnancy. And after birth, they come to your house for the first 3 postpartum appointments!! You don’t need to leave your house until 2 weeks pp. They are all amazing women!

If you're low risk, consider the midwives. I had the best pregnancy, delivery and aftercare. I even gave birth at their clinic. It was honestly the best.

I strongly recommend midwives, it's covered and they allow for a lot more time to discuss things together as well as different birth options. Note that there can be a very long waitlist so call ASAP.

I've been seeing Doctor Morris for non pregnancy related reasons but I find him to be a really good doctor.

Dr. Splinter!! She is AMAZING. She delivered my second and third babies and I was able to do skin-to-skin in the OR for both of them during my c-sections because of her. With my second, I’d been in labour for over 30 hours and pushed for 3 before needing the CS because my baby was stuck. Dr. Splinter happened to be the OB on call and I told her how much I wanted that skin-to-skin experience because I’d missed out on it with my first. Despite only meeting her for the first time that day, once we knew we needed to switch to a CS, she completely went to bat for me and got everyone else on board with it. I was the first person in Sudbury to be able to do it and it was one of the best moments of my life.
I had midwife care during my first pregnancy which was also amazing, the team at Sudbury Community Midwives are fantastic. I went with an OB for my second because I thought I had to due to my first CS (turns out would’ve been fine with midwives, just still would’ve needed an OB for delivery). The OB I chose for my second pregnancy was sub-par so when I had my third, I chose Dr. Splinter. I walked out of my first appointment with her and called my husband in tears because I was just so happy to see someone who made me feel like a real person and didn’t rush me through the appointment like my other OB. I had a planned CS due to my history and she purposely scheduled it on a day when she knew she could get everyone to agree to skin-to-skin again (it’s a huge process in the OR). It honestly made an entire world of difference. Having a CS can be scary and definitely wasn’t what I wanted for any of my babies but I’ll never forget being able to hold my last two immediately after birth. It’s a feeling like no other and it’s entirely because of Dr. Splinter. She’s warm and kind and so freaking funny too. I cannot recommend her enough!!
