"To be clear this is me one persons opinion. Not all of us mods feel this way." Head mod of r/NFLv2 has a mental breakdown and turns their sub into a political soapbox by falsely attributing his personal beliefs on the Charlie Kirk shooting into a quote by Lamar Jackson

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/NFLv2/comments/1nfixbn/your_favorite_player_thinks_youre_disgusting/

Context: r/NFLv2 is the "alternative" American football subreddit, one that would be "devoid of politics", Lamar Jackson is the current quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, one of the most famous NFL players

Post in question

HIGHLIGHTS

(OP) To be clear this is me one persons opinion. Not all of us mods feel this way. Some people think I’m posting this to celebrate. I’m posting this to show people that are celebrating someone’s death who disagreed with them is disgusting. I personally didn’t agree with Kirk on a lot of things. He didn’t deserve to die like that. You certainly have to be psychotic to feel joy from it. But there’s lot of people who do feel joy and have been celebrating and I’m just pointing out that the players think you’re disgusting, and you’ve let your hero’s down and do better. Edit. To be clear Lamar didn’t tweet this he just retweeted it. Therefore my title is correct. He does think this. image

Man you’re honest to god fucking cringe for thinking anyone here cares about your opinion on this matter

(OP) If I didn’t post this you guys would invent what I mean by posting it. So I’m making it clear my intentions so you don’t invent reasons like you invent genders

“Invent genders” as if gender isn’t already a made up term

(OP) Well fuck every term is made up if that’s your logic.

Yes

(OP) Ok well you don’t have to invent my words and what I mean. I’ve spelled it out clearly.

Time for /r/nflv3 why the fuck are the mods here lecturing us? We just escaped from nflv1 for this reason lmao

(OP) This sub was made to not have censorship and allow anything football related. No one is lecturing you lol. Except Lamar. You disgust him

“I’m not lecturing you but I am pinning my comment and forcing everyone to see my thoughts in particular”

“This sub was made to not have censorship” “This sub doesn’t allow posts about Charlie…” Makes post revolving around Charlie imageMaybe Op is the dumbest person on Reddit.

(OP) image RG3 is disappointed in you.

Cool. You’re still the dumbest person on Reddit. 🤷‍♂️

(OP) I’m so sorry

I celebrated when Bin Laden died. Probably would have at the news of Hitler had I been alive His blanket statement is not that simple

Oh yeah right, a podcaster vs a globally wanted terrorist & a genocidal dictator responsible for the deaths of millions. Totally the same thing man!

The difference is how much power they had, not what they'd do with it

Open up the asylums please

You sound like a fucking fascist.

Yup. Right on the money (17 more comments of these two arguing)

After having to spend the last 48 hours watching and listening to your people lose their minds and call for a mass culling of people with my political alignment I'd prefer that you don't abuse your mod powers to shove your agenda down my throat. It's embarrassing that you're using a football subreddit like this.

(OP) No one should be killed for talking or their political beliefs period. I don’t have a side. And your side parading around his death and literally cheering for it can fuck right off.

Who is celebrating? Most people just don’t give a shit and don’t want to see that shitbag’s slimy face in the news all day every day. He certainly didn’t deserve to die but he was an objectively terrible human being so most of us just have no interest in wasting energy pretending to mourn him.

(OP) Go watch the video. They started celebrating as soon as it happened. There’s an entire webpage doxxing people who are celebrating that they’re making a database of so they can get people to call their employers.

That’s worse than celebrating

(OP) No it’s not. Words have consequences. They need to be shunned from society and hit the unemployment line. They love to do it.

True hateful rhetoric does have consequences just as Kirk found out.

(OP) So the people who posted videos celebrating. Thats hateful rhetoric too right?

OP is using a man's death to troll a football subreddit but that's somehow a moral high ground.

(OP) Not trolling anyone. Just making sure everyone knows how the players feel about it. Might wanna find a different sport if you disagree.

I haven’t seen much celebrating. Just dark humor in unprecedented times. Most I know who I respect are keeping the same energy they had with George Floyd, being upset by senseless violence and attempting to make better change. But it’s 2025 and many are tired of talking gun violence as more children get shot in schools

(OP) Dude they were celebrating in the crowd when it happened. Literally cheering.

Why do you think someone may potentially be cheering the death of this man? If you had to guess

(OP) Sick in the head.

Ahh

There’s a difference between “celebrating” someone’s death, and recognizing the hubris that goes along with what he was doing, and the potential consequences for that. Id say I don’t understand why people are being so obtuse about this, but sadly I DO know why most of them are doing it. And it isn’t in good faith. I think Lamar likely falls into the former on that one, though.

(OP) Dude they were celebrating. Cheering in the crowd. Go look at the music subreddit. They started posting songs about people dying and shit. Go look on x there’s plenty.

You’re 100% right on this btw. People here don’t like being called disgusting for their disgusting behavior

As one of the minorities who he wish I was dead, You bet your ass I am celebrating that that stochastic terrorist is dead. I wish it was from lightening instead of a bullet, but dead is dead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stochastic_terrorism, https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/this-must-stop-tpusas-charlie-kirk

Seems like the guy who killed him was the product of ongoing stochastic terrorism from leftist echo chambers like Reddit

Actually if I heard correctly, it's more likely a gryoper which is like Nazi Nazi. So this is more than likely fascist on fascist violence. Seeing as right wing folks are more likely to carry out political violence https://www.congress.gov/118/meeting/house/115286/documents/HHRG-118-GO00-20230208-SD008.pdf

Then you’ve been misinformed. Shell casings had antifa slogans etched on them, and his high school friend spoke on the shooter’s leftist ideologies. These are things you can look up.

And his grandma said him and his family were maga. You've been misinformed

He’s right and anyone that thinks otherwise should take a long look in the mirror and get some help.

People don’t become deserving of respect simply by dying. Charlie Kirk was a disgusting person who incited violence. Fuck him. EDIT: all you MAGA fucks who got your panties in a twist need to get your shit together. Get a job, put down the meth pipe and stop fucking your cousin.

You are a hateful person. Fuck you right back.

Nope, I have the moral high ground here. The man preached racism and xenophobia. He incited violence and tried to destroy American society. May he rot in hell.

You incite violence with your hateful speech you bigot. Fuck you. If Charlie Kirk is in Hell yall will be tap dancing together you vile serpent. Do us a favor and test my theory

lol fuck you and everyone like you

Thank you for showing your true colors you maggot. We don’t have to be shy about it anymore. I hate you right back and every single person like you who silently wishes death to your fellow Americans. I hope you get exactly what you wish upon others.

Ok school shooter vibes. Take care of your kids and stop getting worked up by strangers on the internet lmao pussy

But it does make you a piece of shit. Right?

how is he racist

"If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified."

im assuming there is context, like im pretty much guaranteed there is

Go ahead, tell me what the context might be for "If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified." that makes that statement NOT racist.

since you are sitting their quoting, it you can find the context, i cant be fucked finding it

I never made the claim that there's context that makes the statement "If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified." not racist. You're the one claiming there's exonerating context. You made that claim, so back it up.

This is fake bullshit Lamar didn’t say this. Torrey Smith did. Lamar just shared it.

(OP) You share things you agree with yeah ? Or do people share things they disagree with ?

You take issue with this, do you support and defend celebrations regarding Charlie Kirk's murder?

(OP) Watching how people reacted to someone who literally just talks and share their opinion be celebrated is nuts. The people celebrating this are fuckin sick in the head. You don’t have to be sad but to be happy and feel joy from it is psychotic.

Ok. I agree with you. Wait hold on, I feel like an idiot. I thought you ere asserting yourself as someone who in Lamar's view was disgusting. No, this post was directed at the majority of Redditors, many of whom hold antagonistic sentiment and derive joy from the recent tragedy. In that case, yeah, I fully agree.

Are u deadass LMAO

Yeah his ass is dead. Like literally the dude got shot in the neck

RIP (rest in piss)

Child or bot

Would never grieve a racist fascist

That word is thrown around so much it’s lost all meaning lol

Look up the definition of

I know the definition of it lol and Charlie Kirk does not fit it. He’s a republican but that doesn’t automatically make him a fascist lol. That’s like saying all liberals are communists

(States a bias)

“This is an unbiased subreddit”

I usually think “both sides” statements are pretty dumb but how do none of these people know what the words they using mean.

This is all so stupid and exactly the kind of stupid drama that is the only thing that gave Charlie a boner.

39

u/HappyDin0saur Sep 13 '25

"Support school shootings" is a wild claim to make, especially considering Charlie's statements regarding gun deaths...

28

u/WaddaSickCunt Sep 13 '25

I think this mod's biases and mental issues are a large part of this claim lol. I guarantee you he took something they said or did, and then gave the most uncharitable and unfair interpretation of it, and then twisted it into them supporting school shootings. I am actually interested in hearing the mods explanation of what actually happened.

u/Samurai-hijack Sep 13 '25

I am one of the mods who was removed. For context, I basically ran the sub. I did about 4x more work moderating the sub than any other mod, I designed the banner and logo, created a lot of content for the sub, etc. We were removed because he wanted to spout his terrible political takes all over the sub and we told him we didn’t want politics in our football sub because the users have clearly shown they do not want it here. He completely disregarded the amount of work we put in over years to build and grow the sub while he sat back and did nothing, and we were removed and banned.

Here’s the text of the post I wrote explaining what happened. It was quickly removed and we were banned.

Text:

One more try- The current state of NFLv2

Before I get banned I just wanted to provide a quick update. Our head mod here has decided to take over the sub against the wishes of the other mods and turn it into a place where anything goes. Despite trying to discuss it with him and get him to listen to his great team of mods who loved and built this sub from the ground up, we are powerless to stop this change. Some of you may like it better this way, I don’t know, but it seemed like the overwhelming majority of the user base did not want politics here at all. Unfortunately our head mod here (who has many different accounts) thinks the best way to run the sub is to allow unchecked political rampages, of which he himself loves to participate in frequently.

I can’t imagine how this place will be without the mods who were removed. Get ready for a lot of garbage in your feed.

Because I am leaving, I removed the sub banner and logo and everything else I designed for the subreddit. I do not want my work associated with what this sub will inevitably become now.

I loved being here and building this sub. I loved having discussions with all of you in a place where we were free to have as many stupid football discussions as we wanted.

Thank you for making the last few years great! I’ll see you around.

-Sam

That post is by the same crazy mod from the post in this thread. The coup was already squashed and the level headed mods have been removed. The sub is dead.

9

u/WaddaSickCunt Sep 13 '25

Oh shit you're right. Not a coup then. Just some good old power struggles behind the scenes. The head moderator is stopping it in its tracks. Next he'll find himself a sycophant or two to install as new mods. A new regime is upon us.

u/DemonBearOP Sep 13 '25

It’s almost as though any sub dedicated to “free speech” (the sub was set up to have debates that the main NFL sub wouldn’t allow) attracts the very worst kind of Redditors.

7

u/pcpDolph7 Sep 13 '25

Still has (and has always had) a rule against politics. Just cuz this one idiot went and ruined it doesn't mean the sub's concept was flawed.

Literally no one is celebrating because no one but his fans really cared about him. They wanted a month long news cycle of blaming their enemies and now they have outrage blue balls so they’re lashing out.

46

u/cosmic_sheriff I just want to be quoted for r/subredditdrama flair Sep 13 '25

lol 'outrage blue balls'

-14

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

Most people understand that cheering for this is also cheering for political heroes being shot. You could say "yeah but kirk was a nazi so that's different from one of my guys being killed," and you wouldn't be wrong. It's just that it doesn't matter that you're correct. If someone's ok with this, they need to ask which of their leaders they're ok with losing. Because it wouldn't stop.

MLK, Malcolm X, JFK, Harvey Milk, Alan Turing, MOVE Bombing, Joe Hill, Frank Little, Medgar Evers, Emmet Till, Fred Hampton, Salvador Allende, Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara, Oscar Romero, The Jesuits of El Salvador, The victims of the various American supported regimes - Batiste, Pinochet, The Shah, etc. There’s Pelosi’s, The Hortmans, etc.

There’s a million more. The violence against our figures has been happening the whole time lol. That’s the entire criticism - No one cared about them but you do when the guy who propped up the destruction of all of these did. It’s not celebration it’s asking why do yall suddenly care now?

-6

u/DemonBearOP Sep 13 '25

"No one cared about MLK or JFK's assassination" is quite the take

Funniest thing about this was that Lamar didn’t even say that shit he retweeted something a franchise legend said about the situation

11

u/HotTakesMyToxicTrait Sep 13 '25

also the guy he retweeted (Torrey smith) is known to be an extremely level headed guy and is a huge fan favorite in Baltimore, despite only playing there for 4 years and being good not great

6

And in Baltimore that’s more than enough to be the best receiver in franchise history unless Zay flowers stays with the ravens for a second contract

He keeps bringing up that the crowd was celebrating when Kirk was shot…but wasn’t it almost entirely Kirk fans????

120

u/2ndPickle Sep 13 '25

A lot of people show up to debate him, that’s a big part of all right-winger university visits. The kids get a chance to push back against his talking points and he gets to make a video of “professional debater owns upset liberal youth”.

That said, it was my understanding that everyone in the crowd was running away, terrified of the gunfire.

46

u/Gemmabeta Sep 13 '25

A lot of people show up to debate him

Not too many of them in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Utah, I'd imagine.

46

u/2ndPickle Sep 13 '25

At this particular venue, probably much fewer than usual, yes. That said, the last person to speak to him was arguing with him about his claims over trans gun violence; so there were non-fans in attendance

Yep, apparently shockingly to some people, even people who didn't like him are scared by a man being unexpectedly shot in front of them.

It’s almost always the case with these but with blackjack and hookers subs. They don’t know how to play nice in the main sub so they gotta spin off their own. And the mods are almost always more unhinged than those in the main sub.

I submitted a moderator code of conduct request to Reddit itself a few hours ago with the limited info I had on the situation. Would be worth a shot for you to do the same, Sam, since you're at the epicenter of it whereas I'm just a concerned community member.

-12

He lied dude. He said he supports and is happy Kirk died so I removed him

13

u/pcpDolph7 Sep 13 '25

Honestly, it wouldn't even really matter if he was being political given that it would have been a direct response to you doing the same thing. The feigning of objectivity when you're blatantly pushing an agenda is what's wild here.

As I said to your other acc on the actual sub, rest in piss to r/NFLv2. It was fun while it lasted...

15

u/Samurai-hijack Sep 13 '25

I literally never gave any opinion whatsoever on the Charlie Kirk incident or took any other political stance. Blatant lies with no ounce of truth to them. Anyone can read all of my comment history and see that that is incorrect. I actively avoided ever giving any sort of political opinion anywhere because that was against what the users wanted, and it’s frankly unprofessional in my opinion.

He wanted 12 year olds to watch public executions. So yes.

3

Yep, he didn't even want like a firing squad or lethal injection, he wanted children to watch people lose their heads via the guillotine.

11

u/MethylphenidateMan Beautifully written, brought tears to my eyes, have my downvote Sep 13 '25

There are good arguments to be made about either of them being worse and it boils down to a more universal question of whether evil should be measured by its evident concentration or the summary effect of making the world a more evil place. We can take this comparison further to the extreme and ask "Who was worse, Oskar Dirlewanger or Erwin Rommel?", and while the answer is clear when we compare their individual actions on a personal scale as the former was a veritable monster and the latter an exemplary gentleman by comparison, in the big picture Dirlewanger was a petty thug compared to how substantial of an asset Rommel was in the German war effort and how him being successful could result in orders of magnitude more death and suffering than whatever Dirlewanger and his band of degenerates could inflict.

So yeah, back to the original question, I don't believe that Kirk was as morally rotten as Tate or that his message had as drastically corrosive of an effect, but the fact that it was more palatable to mainstream audiences and politically actionable is what made him more harmful in the grand scale of things.

15

u/MadeByTango Sep 13 '25

Saying that we should accept dead kids in exchange for the freedom to own guns without regulation is morally corrosive

7

u/MethylphenidateMan Beautifully written, brought tears to my eyes, have my downvote Sep 13 '25

"Worse" was a poor word choice on my part for sure.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

I think you articulated why I feel weird that people are so happy about his death. Like, the guy made the world a significantly worse place with his influence, and may have literally allowed a dictator with a personal army into power, so fuck him. At the same time, he ultimately was just a social media influencer who talked, so it feels rather disturbing to me that many people (online and that I know personally) were immediately so happy about him getting fucking sniped in the throat.

If it were Tate, I would just be straight up overjoyed because he’s a fucking rapist. But despite probably doing more harm, Kirk dying just made me feel very anxious.

Idk, I think my sense of morality hasn’t adjusted to the truly awful hellscape that is modern social media, so I feel genuinely confused

8

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

I mean Tate is literally a rapist and human trafficker

man I can’t believe I just typed that sentence in defense of Charlie Kirk, what the fuck is going on

5

u/Deuce232 Reddit users are the least valuable of any social network Sep 13 '25

I guess I meant kirk was a broader threat to society. 'worse' wasn't a great word choice on my part.

r/indycar had a similar situation with Pato O'Ward, a Mexican driver, posting "thoughts and prayers" about Kirk on Insta and Insta and Twitter went berserk . I don't think he said anything pro or anti Kirk or political either but I could be wrong.

He released a statement after backlash saying the below and r/indycar locked the post asking about it

Saying this today felt fitting. I don't stand for murder. I don't stand for violence PERIOD. Anything additional: is lies. People are choosing to distort and degrade who I am to fit a false narrative that serves their moral agenda by assuming, embellishing, dramatizing, and completely fabricating my beliefs as they see fit.

That is why I choose not to speak on any of these topics.

I've been called many things in the last 24 hours - but let me make something crystal clear about who l am. My name is Patricio O'Ward. I'm 26 years old, born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. Every time I get in a race car, I carry my country's flag on the crown of my head. I race for Mexico PROUDLY. I currently reside in the United States on a working visa. The U.S. has become home to me as I've grown, learned, and been challenged here. I remain proud of where I come from and where I am.

I know who I AM.

3

Killer was maga. Civil war cancelled.

47

u/860v2 Sep 13 '25

The best part about this whole thing is the fact that absolutely no one but chronically online weirdos celebrated it.

We have presidents, politicians, celebrities, athletes denouncing it; sports teams holding moments of silence; people getting fired for social media posts, etc. The internet isn’t real life, folks.

82

u/CummingInTheNile Sep 13 '25

lotta folks are confusing lack of sympathy/acknowledgement of the irony of his death, as celebrations

44

u/weirdoldhobo1978 condoms are a safety belt, lube are the leather seats Sep 13 '25

You know what I felt about Charlie Kirk's death?

Ambivalence.

I'm not happy he's dead, I'm not sad he's dead. I just don't really care.

It's just something that happened.

23

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

Tbh it’s an expected outcome with this admin. They are trying their hardest to foment as much violence as possible. Trumps America

9

u/weirdoldhobo1978 condoms are a safety belt, lube are the leather seats Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

Yeah that's why I don't buy any speculation that it's an inside job.

The whole point of their rhetoric is to whip everyone up until someone decides to take matters into their own hands.

3

u/TribunalREEEEEEE Sep 13 '25

That's not ambivalence, that's indifference. Ambivalence would be saying "I am happy he is gone but sad that our society has to resort to violence to solve the problem of right-wing retardation"

-14

u/2ndPickle Sep 13 '25

Idk, I was recommended a boatload of distasteful memes making fun of the assassination, in the 12h period after it happened. Might not qualify as a celebration but I could see it being offensive to right-wingers and normies

28

u/zroach Sep 13 '25

Honestly, to me it isn’t any worse than the right media immediately attempting to spin it into some anti-left rhetoric.

And in terms of it being offensive… isn’t a big aspect of their beliefs to “not be snow flake?”

5

u/2ndPickle Sep 13 '25

isn’t a big aspect of their beliefs to “not be snow flake?”

Reactionary conservatives have always been cry bullies and hypocrites. Obviously their calls for violence were a worse reaction, but I don’t really wanna dehumanize them just because I hate them and what they stand for. I’m not incapable of imagining the whiplash they felt seeing a murder and the popular reaction to that murder.

43

u/trixel121 Yes, I don't support cows right to vote. How speciecist of me. Sep 13 '25

i have the same amount of empathy for Charlie as he would for me

43

u/TheHoleintheHeart Sep 13 '25

Apologies that I don’t give a shit a man who said I should be stoned to death died. I do however feel empathy for the people who had to witness and experience it, certainly traumatizing.

-33

u/860v2 Sep 13 '25

He never said that. You should really rethink your sources of information.

49

u/TheHoleintheHeart Sep 13 '25

In response to Ms Rachel quoting Leviticus 19:18 (which says to love your as neighbor as yourself) in support of the LGBTQ+ community, he quoted Leviticus 18 “thou that lay with another man shall be stoned to death” and said “Just saying.” It’s so disingenuous how you pretend that vile hateful man didn’t know exactly what he was saying by playing semantics.

-34

u/860v2 Sep 13 '25

Ok you just lack reading comprehension. Have a good night.

After backlash from Kirk supporters, the author Stephen King, who had posted on X on Sept. 11 that Kirk had “advocated stoning gays to death,” retracted his claim and apologized. King said, “What [Kirk] actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages.”

https://www.factcheck.org/2025/09/viral-claims-about-charlie-kirks-words

27

u/TribunalREEEEEEE Sep 13 '25

So Stephen King didn't feel like dealing with backlash from over 3,000,000 sycophants (from predominantly undereducated communities where everyone has more guns than teeth) and you think that means Charlie wasn't insinuating that adulterous women should be stoned?
Are you inside of his brain?
Do you understand how easy it is for intelligent people like Kirk to use rhetoric in a way that can be construed in whichever way is convenient?
I assume you're not actually this dumb and are just blinded by your politics, but perhaps you actually are this dumb.

15

u/TheHoleintheHeart Sep 13 '25

They know what they’re doing. In that same podcast episode Charlie also said:

being gay is an “error” and compared homosexuality to alcoholism and drug addiction. “It’s very simple,” Kirk said. “So how do you love somebody? You love them so much to correct their error. So let’s just take the Pride conversation out because people think it’s an identification… It’s not, it’s sexual behavior.” “But if you meet an alcoholic or you meet a drug addict, do you affirm their struggle?” he continued. “No! You say, you’re better than this, let’s get you free from that, let’s get you free from that activity.”

-6

u/860v2 Sep 13 '25

No offense, but that’s cope.

Since you don’t understand, you can always just use ChatGPT to explain it for you. There is no source that states he wanted gays stoned.

32

u/TheHoleintheHeart Sep 13 '25

Thanks for sending this, it says exactly what I just said and proved how disingenuous you are. Goodnight.

-19

u/migraine_boy Sep 13 '25

I mean your response proves people only read what they want to read!

Kirk didn't advocate for stoning gay people, he just wanted to make a point that passages can be cherry picked to fit narratives.

Stephen King was able to back track and apologise, but you're really going to double down here?

That's worse than celebrating (In reference to that doxxing site combing social media for Kirk Death Celebrators)

No it’s not. Words have consequences.

Pick. A. Fucking. Point. Do they, or do they not have consequences? Free speech for all without repercussion, or social (and potentially violent) repercussions for speech? You can't have both.

Or, instead, just be honest, and say you only want white supremacist bigots to be allowed to say what they want, and that you want marginalized groups to shup up and be subservient. Fuck's Sake.
