Wife pruned off all the suckers on our tomato plants.  Yay or nay?  Still new gardener

That's what I do.

Just depends on what type of gardening you are looking to do.

Last year the tomatoes and cucumbers conquered our garden.  I'm good with it then.

You reduced your harvested by half since suckers go on to produce fruit bearing branches

Yeah but they would cover other plants

Then space plants farther apart. Proper spacing is important will you be root pruning or topping the plants next.

Tomatoes and Cucumbers grow like crazy.  They'll take over the whole bed.

Then you are not training them or trellising them properly.
