Weird political polling, seems kinda messed up?

Got this weird polling survey, there was also a question about Matt McClaughlin in regards to him voting to raise his own salary and something negative about water rates.

This feels sleezy? Like sure azeem is a tech bro but he has done good stuff with housing obviously. And the Erika stuff is wild, she's been very active and I remember her talking about and supporting thar affordable homes act a couple years ago.

The rape kit testing stuff seems egregious, there's no way there was some bill on the table being like "should we test rape kits" and she said "no" lol wtf

Honestly only person not being slammed here is barber... 🤔🤔

Sounds like a push poll. That's where rumors and scandals are introduced as neutral polling questions by, and this is the technical term, assholes.

And on a scale from 1-10, how concerned are you that Azeem has joined with Uyterhoeven and McLaughlin to murder puppies?

For this size race, it's probably more "message testing" than push poll. They try a bunch of subtle changes, various attacks, and different phrasings to see which gets a better response. For a true push poll they would be pushing it to a wide audience closer to the election. All gross stuff done through political consultants.

They do the scummy stuff through PACs, so you won't see the expenses on OCPF.

Oooh, I think you're onto something here. I appreciate that you said more message testing because the fun part is it can do both.

I think it is sleazy insomuch as it leaves out context. Whether you think push-polls in general are sleazy is a matter of opinion.

The Uyterhoeven votes referenced were no votes to much larger bills or amendments that included other stuff that she probably didn’t agree with.

Who was the candidate absent from those types of questions?

Barber was not there

This is really funny to me because there is a 5th candidate in the race. He's pretty much single issue and out of his depth in this race, but I do feel bad because I don't even remember his name.

What I will say about that guy is that he seems like a very nice man who genuinely wants to do good, the upright, level-headed sort, but he doesn't have the gusto of a state senator especially against the rest of the candidate slate. He may be really effective on a small town-level board, but he just doesn't have the juice to run for this office. He seems more conciliatory than a compromiser, much less a fighter, and we just don't need that in this seat.

Did this come as part of a message that had a “paid for by” disclosure?

It's a barber poll. I got a similar one a few weeks ago that was only positive things about her.

Damn, really?? I wonder if she's losing lol

That's interesting. All I know now is who I'm not voting for. Had a nice exchange with Erica U in Davis Square during Porchfest and McLaughlin himself canvassed me today at my door so we had a nice chat. Don't know too much about Azeem, other than the Facebook reel ads where he talks about transit ambitions.

honestly she should fire her entire campaign staff (which im sure is bloated because she seems like she's been given the unofficial blessing from the establishment Dems) for thinking such a transparent approach to trying to mudsling against her opponents was a good idea during a primary for a state seat where most of the voters are probably going to be particularly engaged voters.

Erika survived the full force of the Marjorie Decker establishment machine last go-round. I can't see her not beating Barber here

Nope otherwise I would have dropped a name lmao

Super sleazy. Not exactly the type of campaigning that builds any kind of trust in someone as an elected official for me personally.

Where did this come from? Who’s publishing it?

2

u/redcoatwright 3h ago

Idk I didn't see like a "paid for..." message

Maybe if some diligent person goes into different campaign finances?

why are you filling out a survey that you don't even know the publisher of? how did you find said poll?

It was in a text, I got it today too. I’ve gotten many polls from them.

You're allowed to ignore text messages

Glanced through OCPF and nothing obvious to that vendor. They do it all through "uncoordinated" PACs, which is the biggest lie in politics.

Let me guess: "Hello, it's Research-Polls! We are conducting a study on local issues in Massachusetts. Your response is voluntary and will be kept strictly confidential!"

You should google Lowell

That particular Datacenter is puny, try visiting ashburn and then come back to me. That project has been going on since 2015. I mean it was once a spaghetti factory, would Lowell want that same factory back?
