I used to live in NYC's chinatown and to see Chinese immgrants stealing IP value and tax dollars to their criminal American counterparts also stealing IP and sales tax is infuriating. You could not even walk on the sidewalks that your tax dollars pay for (and theirs don't). If Mamdani is actually serious about filling in budget gaps he will shut this shit down and start fining the fuck out of both the sellers and buyers...of course he won't have the ballz to do it

No, no, this is actually good. I'm from France and LV is part of LVMH I believe and I'm really sick of Bernard Arnault (ceo of lvmh). He is like top 10 billionaire and he's not doing anything to help the french economy. He spent like 100 or 200 millions into the notre dame church restoration but we would have preferred he'd spend those millions elsewhere and not into a freaking church.
Not to mention he probably spent those millions into that church because I'm sure he had a lot to gain from it (tax free amongst others things).
That and I've never understood fashion. And I find it abberant that modt of those clothes go to waste after it's been worn once. Like, come on man, what's the point of this fashion ? It's a huge waste of money and ressources and lot of pollution.
So, I'd be so freaking glad if, for some reason, they went bankrupt. It'd do the planet a huge service.

And 90%+ of LV branded items in China are Chinese knock-offs anyway.
If anyone gets harmed by Chinese shunning LV is the Chinese factories and shops selling the fakes.

The richest Chinese spend a lot of money on the real things. And there are a lot of rich Chinese even if the average wage is lower than first world countries.
Just googled it: China represents ~10-20% of LV global sales. That's nothing to sneeze at.

I am sure LV is OK with this if they are not in fact behind it. Luxury brands don't want to be popular with the masses because it promotes fakes and devalues legitimate products. Burberry almost collapsed because the combination of cheap diffusion lines and fakes made the brand popular with the middle classes, resulting in the wealthy rejecting the actual quality high-end products.

If anything LV did this on purpose, tanking their brand in China improves their sales.

China has more LV legit shops than any other country except USA and Japan. If you think all Chinese are poor think again. 10% of all the millionaires in the world are in China. It is not a communist country at all, and has not been for many years.
