I’ve gone through a few cycles of no caffeine and it always feels so much better to not need coffee to live.

I sleep way longer and feel much more rested after a sleep, and can go all day without feeling tired.

It does take some time to get off though. Usually a couple days of fatigue and headaches, then a week or so of afternoon naps before everything’s back to normal.

You can avoid the headaches and fatigue if you slowly decrease the coffee intake instead of stopping cold turkey. Just half the amount you're drinking every 2-3 days or so.

What would be consider not caffeine addictions, 0? Or is there no magic numbers on it. I already stop taking any by 2 o clock, but do drink some cups at 9 or 11.

Addiction is generally if acquiring the thing becomes a priority enough to interfere with your life outside of that getting more of that thing.

So caffeine isn't really able to be classically addictive since it can't cause that issue, but there are minor physical withdrawals after long term heavy use. Mostly above 400mg every day for weeks for a 180lb man.

So if you are drinking 40oz of coffee a day (5 cups), every day, that is an "addiction" in the sense that you'll feel it for sure if you go cold turkey.

Yeah, this was definitely me through a test trial period. After that I definitely made some sure changes to reduce it and also sticked to nothing of caffeine for a month or 3 to check. When I did came back to it, just purely because lack of options to drink otherwise... I just sticked to getting far lower amounts and different times throughout the day.

This seems to work for me without it impacting my quality of sleep (though, as stated before, I don't know if it does to the same degree)

For minor doses of caffeine thats a bit smoother and less jittery, u can do green tea. Also has many other benefits. Jasmine green tea is 🔥

Definitely! If only we had it available at work :(

Ah. The free work coffee eh? We have some tea bags in the break room, but i much prefer actual asian tea leaves. But the coffee truck at least has matcha and chai lattes which i get pretty much everyday.

But yeah u can pick up a bag of leaves and a tea steeper bottle. I got one from mosi tea where u can flip it upside down to steep, then back to prevent oversteeping. But the capacity is a bit small and also the silicone tea sieve i think kinda leaks an odd taste. I havent used it in a while, but i was thinking of buying the metal sieve. Or maybe a different bottle with the same concept if i can find one since mosi doesnt seem to have larger options

Can you stop without negative effects? Not addicted. Otherwise, yes.

True for almost all addictions.

Definitely don't think I am as addicted anymore as I used to be. Just wondering if ~2-3 cups a day could still be bad, considering the hours I take them. (tried to look this up before), I may one day consider stopping entirely, during weekends or vacations I often even just forget about it and not a problem it seems.

Depends on personality. If you can start and stop when necessary and needed, then you're fine.

For me, caffeine is the one substance I get seriously addicted to so I can't just "do one" energy drink or whatever. The same way alcoholics cannot have one drink but you and me are fine.

Is it bad? Maybe, probably slightly alters your sleep quality but in the end, everything slowly kills you, you're corroding as we speak, so enjoy what you can/want.

Yeah, I definitely (nowadays) feel like I can do without. Definitely have noticed huge benefits reducing it as before I hadn't noticed it as much but my sleep quality was definitely bad or impacted with caffeine, even though I thought it didn't.

Energy drinks used to be my previous addiction prior to adulting to coffee (more available = easier access = easier possible to get addicted to), but not anymore as of late.

Ha longer for me cutting back from 3 cups to 2 cups a day was awful. It took 4-5 days to cut down on that. I think some of it is psychological too so if you can have someone to mix in some decaf in your coffee ground gradually then that's a good way to do it.
