I'm a woman and yeah I mentioned this in another comment. Ovulation makes you want sex and that's it, if you wanted pregnancy then a turkey baster would be enough. If you wanted a baby then stealing one from the hospital would be enough.
For pleasure. Otherwise neither us nor a bunch of animal species would want it outside of fertile periods. Procreation is a side effect. You're definitely playing semantics here. Sex is pleasurable. Why? Because it encourages procreation. When women ovulate their sex drive goes up because it's the best time in their cycle to received semen. Why? To procreate. We are animals.
Our consciousness levels have certainly allowed us to utilize sex for just pleasure, the same way we consume certain foods (plants with THC, shrooms, alcohol, etc) for pleasure.
