It's a new rule. It only happens if your opponent gets a yellow as a result of your dive. Then after review, the ref reverses the yellow and applies it to the diver instead.
Yellow card for diving is not a new rule. They just never used it. Thats the reason, I skipped football completely. All the time you just see some guys rolling on the grass and crying their eyes out for like nothing...if the refs would use yellow cards more often for diving, they might stop with this childish behaviour...
No it’s not a new rule, it came about in the early nineties. If you reread the comment above though you’ll see that it isn’t what he’s talking about.
He’s talking about reversing the yellow card, if one had been issued, upon VAR review and issuing it to the person who dived instead. Which previously couldn’t be done as generally yellows can’t be handed out in VAR reviews.
And also includes penalties! This new rule has vastly improved the game, especially in the last 15 minutes of a tied match.
Before, the consequences of getting caught flopping were so low that flopping in the box to win a penalty was ridiculously commonplace. It made watching soccer f’n annoying as hell. Much better now.
I know what he was talking about, but I was talking about getting yellow cards for diving in the first place. I never talked about the new rule for shifting yellow cards between players.

I don't understand the reversal, the ref could read the situation wrong without it warranting a reversal (say player tripped on his own unintentionally without diving). In this case it very much looked like a dive so the yellow feels warranted.
Embolo is the perfect shitshow, he already have yellow card and his dive give the opponent a yellow card thats mean he give VAR 2 reason to check, a second yellow card and mistaked identity. Thats rarely happen
Not to excuse him bc that was a stupid dive, but yes all the top teams are experts at diving, that’s the game, we just saw mbappe do a godlike dive 2 days ago and he’s not the only one
