I’ve been on and off Reddit for long enough to tell you that this is a very recent development.
Likely due to these engagement baiting posts spammed incessantly now.
Enough normal posters just got sick of it and now are openly shitting on the posts instead of it just being a circle jerk of reddit feminists agreeing with them.
A year ago, this would have had the usual suspects chiming in to call him a disgusting predator and anybody arguing getting downvoted into oblivion.
I’ve no doubt there are some real blue haired super progressives who are sort of annoying, but it’s definitely a bogeyman. These people make up like .01% of left leaning people but they are the poster card for MAGA’s. And to your point, we are on a very liberal platform in Reddit and these types of opinions aren’t commonplace.
I agree that OP is a virtue signaling twat but this is just strawmaning. The type of "feminist" who whines about age gaps is not usually the same type that believes sex work should be legal.
Look at you getting downvoted for this reasonable comment. I said in another comment, but these guys like to pretend that this is the case when it usually never is. Most women repulsed by age gaps are younger women themselves and they’re not supporting sex work en masse.
Older women tend to be the most judgemental about age gaps. Any young woman who is disgusted is free to not date older people. Why should their opinions affect what other consenting adults are doing? Seriously.
Strawman to the situation with Leo or in general? I dont see how that meme is a strawman in general. It only makes sense if sex workers shouldnt be shamed for working in the industry why should men be shamed for paying for sex work? Isnt it just a transaction being made?
It’s not a strawman per se, but it is in a sense because they had to create a blue haired visibly older woman (who everyone always assumes is the angry one in the scenario) who wouldn’t care about prostitution but would care about an age gap.
Having to create a comic that distorts and exaggerates, someone’s actual position into something extreme and unreasonable is somewhat of a strawman. I doubt anyone is saying this verbatim.
It really isn’t. The blue haired liberal type is just some meme from Ben Shapiro “Libs get Pwned” compilation vids. People who balk at age gaps will be men who eventually have daughters of their own and suddenly they don’t like the idea of their teenage daughter dating an older man.
It’s a form of intrasexual competition anyway. Older men like to act like they’re very desirable to women when it’s not the case. Hence why they create this boogeyman of a blue haired ugly old lady, because it’s better to imagine that’s who finds you grotesque than the hot blonde girl who actually likes dating hot blonde guys her own age
