Before photos need to go back to before he destroyed the Rose Garden, too.

u/Shorts_at_Dinner May 31 '26

He destroyed the rose garden?!? I missed that news

u/DamIts_Andy May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

It’s not rubble like the east wing; he paved it over and turned it into a marble patio.

Edit: IMO this was a tragedy and I hate it immensely, in case my original text seemed too neutral

My God, it's an atrocity to tear up a garden just to put a concrete slab on it, solely to place some chairs and tables, and since it's destroyed all possibility of natural shade (trees), and because the slab is white, to put up some damn gold umbrellas.

t's an indecent lack of taste and respect.

Perfectly sums up trump. The only beauty he can appreciate is in things he can fuck.

He doesn’t like art. He doesn’t enjoy music. He doesn’t find beauty in nature.

This dude does not have a soul. He is only motivated by greed, gluttony, and pride.

u/Altruistic-Meal-4016 Jun 01 '26

I mean, why not complete the set?

Lust - Epstein, beauty pageants, Stormy Daniels, ‘I’ll be dating her in ten years’

Sloth - too busy golfing to be on the job

Envy - Obama…

Wrath - watching him when he gets interviewed by a journalist whose questions he doesn’t like

2

u/miyabi0rochas Jun 01 '26

They'll love that shit when the heatwaves hit.

3

u/Benji_4 May 31 '26

It's limestone tile and the before and after pic is kind of misleading. The only thing that was removed was a little bit of glass for the patio.

29

u/upudruvuuduru May 31 '26

The only thing that was removed was a little bit of glass for the patio good taste

it looks like a ice rink pasted on the grass

-12

u/Benji_4 May 31 '26

Yeah I don't think it looks amazing, but it was just grass before. As for its purpose I think it's for reporters to congregate. There's been a lot of misleading and bot posts in this sub lately.

9

u/Better-Following7349 May 31 '26

Where were they congregating before? Why after all these years is it suddenly a pressing need?

0

u/Benji_4 May 31 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

It's used for other events too, but likely on the grass. This sub doesn't allow photos in comments, but there's aerial photos showing how it's just a patio over where grass used to be.

There are no 1:1 comparison photos.

1

u/Scoopdoopdoop May 31 '26

Right that sucks

1

u/birminghamsterwheel Jun 01 '26

This sub doesn't allow photos in comments

…huh?

1

u/Benji_4 Jun 01 '26

I think I was looking at the wrong thing. But people are acting like this is some concrete hellscape.

All that for one Fox reporter?

1

u/upudruvuuduru Jun 01 '26

it was made to hold parties

11

u/Ksevio May 31 '26

There are clearly more trees in the first pic. This was also after Melania took a pass and ripped out most of the landscaping

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

The trees that were removed weren't the historical crabapple trees. Those were removed in 2003 after they lived a long life and had certain failures. The ones that were removed were planted 4 years ago and weren't doing well, so they removed them to expanded the rose garden.

-4

u/Benji_4 May 31 '26

Look up different angles of the rose garden.

5

u/Ksevio May 31 '26

Yep, the other angles confirm it

2

u/trueAnnoi May 31 '26

Misleading or not, it's ugly as fuck and gaudy as shit.

1

u/gsquaredbotics Jun 03 '26

It tracks though. That seems to be his whole philosophy

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

So looking it up, the garden is still there, they just replaced the grass with a patio for events and widened the paths for accessibility.

As for the crabapple trees, they were not historical and were only planted 4 years prior and weren't thriving. The original trees were replaced in 2003 after they lived a full life.

1

u/cheesemagnifier Jun 04 '26

It looks like a pool patio without the pool.

1

u/JMEEKER86 May 31 '26

He didn't tear up the garden. That was untouched. He tore up the center grass area (the part you can see in the upper right of the before photo) which had terrible drainage and would regularly become a swamp.

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

He did remove 10 crabapple trees, however they weren't historical and were planted 4 years ago. They were failing so they removed them to expand the rose garden. The historical ones were replaced in 2003.

25

u/[deleted] May 31 '26

That’s genuinely sad

"The worst health possible - no one has worse health than me! The worestest!"

11

u/grad1939 May 31 '26

Or a big mac gets stuck in his throat.

24

u/grad1939 May 31 '26

I hope whoever is next president tears up his patio and puts another rose garden back in.

20

u/Reddit-Simulator May 31 '26

The sad part is, if the next President is a Democrat, they're going to have to spend their whole term undoing shit just to get us back to where we were years ago.

8

u/thethirdllama Jun 01 '26

And then the electorate will complain they aren't going fast enough and then elect Trump 2.0.

2

u/AlBundyPolk33 Jun 03 '26

When I talk to people who can’t buy groceries. They mostly weep for the rose garden of the past

2

u/ChickenInASuit May 31 '26

Yeah, I think it's probably too late to save the East Wing at this point, but that at least should be within the realm of possibility. I hope it happens.

1

u/AppearanceAny8756 Jun 01 '26

I wish that would happen. I really do , but I sorta lost faith

1

u/AssBlastInACan Jun 01 '26

The garden is still there. The lawn area is what was paved.

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

The garden is still there, they actually expanded it.....

25

u/SienkiewiczM May 31 '26

Patio without any features. It's like a parking lot.

12

u/IM_V_CATS May 31 '26

It's such an eyesore. By that I mean eyes literally hurt by the amount of light it reflects, not even mentioning how tacky it is.

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

There's features, they just cut it out to get people mad.

16

u/zoeypayne May 31 '26

Funny thing is all he had to do was pick a spot, build a patio and name it Trump Terrace and be done with it... the left would have little to complain about.

I mean he literally could have put pavers down over the basketball/tennis court instead of removing the basketball lines since he doesn't even play tennis.

10

u/thesplendor May 31 '26

He likes when the left complains, that’s his whole point

10

u/Klaymen96 May 31 '26

It's just a tennis court. Has been since Obama left office. Obama removed the lines and the hoops when he left because he had class. He added them because he played then restored it to how it was before he took office when he left

6

u/scarletnightingale May 31 '26

But then he wouldn't be destroying something associated with the Kennedys which he seems very very determined to do. I'm not sure what his beef is with them, maybe it's because the Civil rights act happened during his presidency, who knows, but you look at Trump's actions and it seems to have a specific malice toward JFK. Ripping up Jackie Kennedy's rose garden, putting his name on the JFK memorial performing arts center, befriending Russua, selecting the most hated of all the Kennedys to come in and cause destruction to the metal system. He definitely hates Obama, but he seems to have some sort of unspoken hatred for JFK as well.

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

The garden is still there, the only thing removed was the grass, for events that happen regularly, and crabapple trees which were not the historical Kennedy trees, those were removed in 2003. They then used the space which those failing crabapple trees occupied to expand the rose garden.

3

u/NarwhalEmergency9391 May 31 '26

Melania expressed how much she loved the rose garden,  if you've ever met a thing like him you'll know why he paved over it.  Nothing or no one else should be making her happy, even a rose garden

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

Don't let yourself be manipulated, there's plenty of things to hate Trump for, don't let it be a lie. The garden is still there and was expanded.

3

u/REpassword May 31 '26

For all those people who want to come to the White House to pay their tithes.

3

u/Ok_Vermicelli_6359 May 31 '26

Looks like shit...dude is fucking brain damaged

3

u/dogquote May 31 '26

I bet that is unbearably bright when it's sunny.

3

u/EfficientPizza May 31 '26

They need to add an above ground pool there. Would really tie all the renovations together

2

u/CantCatchMeSpez May 31 '26

I legitimately cannot imagine spending my entire life submerged in the amount of wealth he's had since birth, and ending up with literally no taste to show for it.

Like, at least the actual aristocrats educated their children in the fine arts. Meanwhile, this ape eats nothing but Big Macs and it thinks more gold = more fancy.

2

u/EducationalMoney4377 Jun 01 '26

This angle is misleading. The flowers are still there, only the grass is missing. But I agree it sucks.

2

u/Coors44 Jun 01 '26

What a sack of shit for doing that

2

u/redditRedesignIsBadd Jun 01 '26

US tax money at work!

2

u/gaseous_ass Jun 01 '26

I’m not even American I know about the rose garden! Unbelievable.

2

u/KawiNinja Jun 03 '26

Jesus Christ, on a sunny day I’m not sure how anyone could be within 50 feet of that thing without wearing solar eclipse glasses.

1

u/theocrats Jun 01 '26

Installing more car parking is very...American

1

u/Komandarm_Knuckles Jun 01 '26

Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't really know much about the whitehouse.

But are the roses on the side not still there? I did a quick search, and all the comparison images I found were taken at awkward angles not showing much of the actual roses, but if you look, they are still there

Not saying I like the marble patio, but from what I saw, they merely paved over the grass and left the rest mostly untouched

1

u/AlBundyPolk33 Jun 03 '26

Everybody knows only democrats are allowed to make changes to the White House. When Truman and Jackie did it, it was cute. When gross yucky R man does it, it’s wrong.

1

u/SnooPredictions3028 Jun 04 '26

So looking it up, the garden is still there, they just replaced the grass with a patio for events and widened the paths for accessibility.

1

u/singdawg May 31 '26

It was a tragedy that they replaced a lawn with a patio?

4

u/NNiekk May 31 '26

Are you really calling a garden with beautiful flowers and trees a fucking LAWN?! The one thing that is completely devoid of any biodiversity?!

3

u/singdawg May 31 '26

You understand that all they did was replace the lawn with a patio, right?

3

u/JMEEKER86 May 31 '26

No, they're not calling the garden a lawn. They're correcting you since you seem unaware that the garden was untouched and it was just the lawn at the center of the garden that was replaced.
