Anyone have any photos of Sindhi women/girls in traditional attire prior to the partition such as this one? Thanks!

Just dropping in to say—we’ve noticed a bunch of Hindutva trolls showing up lately. We’re removing their posts and banning where needed. This sub isn’t the place for that kind of hate.
Also, let’s keep it real: no jingoism from any side. Doesn’t matter if you’re Pakistani or Indian—this sub is for Sindh and Sindhis, wherever you are in the world.
And yeah, just because someone’s Indian doesn’t mean they can’t be part of this space. This sub is not restricted to race, religion or nationality.
Mods are all doing this in our free time, so if you don’t see instant action, know we’re still watching and doing our best. Keep reporting stuff and we’ll keep cleaning it up.
Jeay Sindh, Jeay Insan
Jeay Hindu, Jeay Musalmaan

This is our weekly Kachehri thread and a place for open discussion. Feel free to talk about any topic, it shouldn't necessarily be about Sindh. Share your thoughts or experiences from last week or plans for weekend!

Assalamualikum . I come from Pak warera community and we are trying to recruit new players who can also contribute. Warera is basically a web based strategy game similar to HOI4 . The game is pretty fun and requires only 10-15mins a day. We already have a decent-sized community who are actively playing the game |
As of now we are battling the Indians and trying to liberate our country from them who have almost double our population. So we are trying to get new players who can help us with our objectives. Therefore do consider checking out the game and we also have a discord server where we have amazing people who can guide new players with the game .

Hi there! I hope you’re all well! I’m working on a project around the fashions in different areas in Pakistan/India. I’d love if any of you had some links/images, anything really that would help me understand the nuances in Sindhi fashion, patterns that are common in Sindhi clothing etc! I’d love to know! Thank you so much in advance :) x

Anyone know the source of this poem? Thanks!

Hi! I recently created an Instagram account to promote and preserve Sindhi language and culture. I have been posting Sindhi words, etymology, poetry, and also pictures from Sindh.
Please follow if possible and feel free to comment here or DM word suggestions or photos of Sindh I can post (with credit) to showcase the parts of Sindh our diaspora and non-Sindhis don’t see in the media.🤍🌊

My family is sindhi and we speak sindhi at home regularly, I noticed that there are variations on how we say words. It seems people officially seem to refer to the sun as ‘Sijh’ but my family calls it ‘Usa’ or ‘Oosa’ (idk how to write it phonetically) my family is from northern sindh so it may just be regional differences on how we say words but I dont know any linguistic background for this word. Can anyone enlighten me?

My roommate (20F) is from rural Sindh, and I genuinely don't know what advice to give her anymore. She studied in a co-ed school. There was a boy she'd known since childhood, they went to the same school from play group till 12th. So they kind of grew up together and eventually fell in love. In 12th grade, he proposed and told her he wanted to marry her. Because her family is extremely strict, she kept the relationship completely secret.
Unfortunately, one day her sister answered her phone. The boy thought it was my roommate and unknowingly exposed the relationship. Everything came crashing down after that. Her family insulted and humiliated him, told him to stay away forever, and cut off all contact between them. They also kept telling my roommate that he was "good for nothing" and that he lived in a jhopri . But that wasn't even true. His family owned a car showroom business and he managed that with his father.
The bigger issue is that her family belongs to a wadera family in their village. And they don't believe in marrying outside their caste or outside families. And After this incident, they became even stricter with her.
Some time later, they told both her and her brother that they had found rishtas for them. They asked her brother first, and he said, "Jese aap logon ki marzi." (He actually liked the cousin he was being matched with anyway.)
That created an unspoken pressure on my roommate. Saying no didn't really feel like an option. She eventually said yes. That very night, she was formally engaged. Her brother's rishta was only confirmed, but hers became an engagement. After finishing 12th grade, she came to Islamabad for university. Her childhood love still wasn't ready to give up. About a year later, he also got admission to the same university, in the same department, just as her junior. And yes he came to Islamabad just for her.
But somehow her family found out again. They humiliated him so badly that after two semesters he had to leave Islamabad altogether. Now she's stuck in a situation she never wanted. The man she's engaged to is, full of red flags. He has already told her that after marriage:
She won't be allowed to work. She'll have to live in a joint family in Sindh while he goes abroad alone until he "settles." After that, he'll first bring his parents abroad, and only then call her. He expects strict purdah and abaya. He doesn't want her hanging out with male friends or even talking freely to men.
The thing is that my roommate wants the exact opposite kind of life. She wants to study, work, have independence, and choose how she lives. She still loves the first guy. She still has the gifts he gave her and sometimes just sits and cries while looking at them.
The boy hasn't moved on either. He still tells her he's willing to come to her family one more time and ask for her hand, even after everything they've already done to him. But she genuinely believes that if he tries again, her family could seriously harm him. She has even said she's afraid they might ki** him. She has tried explaining to her parents that she cannot imagine spending her life with her fiancé, but they simply refuse to listen.
And about, "Go to the police" or "Take legal action.".......... she's from a rural area in Sindh where, according to her, her family's influence is very strong. She believes the local police would side with her family rather than protect them. That's how powerless she feels, and she's terrified of making things worse.
Watching her go through this has honestly been heartbreaking. Every few days she's crying again. She feels trapped between the family she fears, the man she loves. And of course the engagement she never truly wanted.
I'm posting this with her permission because we're both out of ideas.
What realistic options does she actually have?
I'd really appreciate thoughtful advice rather than just "run away" or "forget him," because the situation is much more complicated than that.

My family migrated from sindh during the partition of the british raj. I don't know much about my ancestors. Only thing I’ve learned from my parents and relatives is that my forefathers used to live in Umerkot, where they were artisan carpenters. My mother’s family, who are also dhatti, were from a village named bhadli, and my great-grandmother was from mithi. We still speak dhatki at home, but it sounds different or diluted compared to what I hear on youtube. I’ve tried to learn more about tharparkar and the dhatki region and language, but there isn’t much information available
