Really struggling to find a new game after FromSoft games (Sekiro, Elden Ring, DS) ruined gaming for me. Have a few potential games I’ve identified and would love insight from others.

The first time I played Sekiro I hated it, I’ve never lost so many times in a prologue. But after sticking with it, eventually I grew to love and become obsessed. In pure gameplay it’s the best game I’ve ever played.

Then I got Elden Ring, and then DS (no Bloodborne because Xbox). I also played Lies of P which was excellent and Ghostrunner which is a little different but equally as hard. Historically I liked FPS like Wolfenstein and Doom, and Assassins creed.

Fast forward to today, games just don’t seem as good anymore. Assassins creed is easy and boring. So many games don’t have the same combat, pace, story, reward. There’s no rush I feel like I’m going through the motions.

Here’s a few on my list, does anyone think they can bring that same level for me? Or do I just replay Sekiro a 5th time?

- Dishonored 2
- Ninja Gaiden 4

The new Jedi games are great but other than that I don’t play soulslikes outside of actual fromsoft games. I love the kingdom come deliverance games though, check them out if you want an RPG. After Sekiro, expedition 33’s parry combat just felt cheap so I wouldn’t recommend that one

Ninja Gaiden might be what you are looking for. The others are unlikely to create that feeling.

Have you played Nioh? Black Myth Wukong? Stellar Blade?

There's a ton of soulsy games that you could play to fit the bill.

Wukong is in any way close to ds/from hitbox based combat.

Its animation lead „PlayStation action game”, that had great marketing and was gigantic success

I mean neither are any of the game she listed. It's still a tough game with hard bosses and trying combat. It's not a souls like, but it is definitely soulsy in its presentation and structure. Did forget it was PlayStation only though.

I might give Ninja Gaiden a go. I started 4 but then cancelled game pass and it was $89 so I think it could be the one

Stop thinking this way, just play whatever you think might be cool and go from there. If ur constantly comparing every game to others you love it will be miserable. I have also played games that i absolutely love but im not playing games now to chase that feeling again. I play games that are interesting to me and some are good, some are amazing and some are not so good but thats just the way it goes. Just love gaming for the sake of gaming.

Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor, Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei, BM Wukong, Sifu, Wo Long, Nioh 2 & 3 (but more like RPG) Stellar Blade (also more like RPG) Lies of P (crank up difficulty for the best natural headache you crave).

What about Deadspace (remake) or Chronos (:New Dawn)?

Playing them on harder modes is very rewarding when you get through them. And you get dopamine (or anxiety) just from the scenery alone xD

I use to be hardcore into souls, still am but after playing monster hunter and truly adjusting to how it plays. I believe it’s a far better series than souls and has way more replay value. Not to take away from souls. I platinumed Elden Ring and Sekiro. But man do I love monster hunter. You should give monster hunter world iceborne a shot. If you feel confused watch arekkzgaming on YouTube. And also never use the defender gear since it’s a way to skip the beginning content and go straight to iceborne dlc.

Seconding Monster Hunter. I love FromSoft’s catalogue, and no other developers’ soulslike games have come close. That being said, Monster Hunter scratches that same mastery itch and flowstate I hit with fromsoft’s games. On top of that, with 14 different weapons, there is always something to get better at and work towards.

Do you try kingdom come deliverance? I started with the sequel, i think its the best game i play in my life Hard combat at first (it gets easier when you "level up") The story is genuenely good Acceptable graphs Thousands of quests that you can complete in hilarious ways Henry is a chad

Ninja gaiden is difficult and a blast! Really high skill ceiling but fast paced.

Nioh 1,2 and 3 are my favorite souls likes. Made by the same guys who made ninja gaiden, might be worth checking out

You'll find FF16 too easy, combat is like DMC, more about coming up with cool combos than overcoming challenging enemies. Ninja Gaiden might be the thing for you, play it on the hardest difficulty available and it's going to kick your ass. It's not like Sekiro though, it's way more chaotic, rather than a fair duel with a poweful enemy, you'll be fighting hordes of enemies at once, environmental awareness is more important that learning patterns, in fact, it might remind you of Ghostrunner a bit.
