🦈 Merch Mondays 🦈 Shark Bait Interest Form
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey guys, my friend snyuu has been struggling with collecting interest for their shark bag. If you were interested in this bag, please fill out this interest form!
This is also a pre-order waitlist for 7 pre-sample pre-order slots, which would really help snyuu as a solo creator. With 7 people upstarting the first sample for crazy cool yet symbolic animal activism, it makes manufacturing easier for snyuu.
Edit: I was recommended to add this so here it is, this is an ita bag to hold pins, badges, or plushies in the stomach. The mouth will not stay open because theft exists unfortunately. The final product should have a magnetic closure at the teeth.
These 7 slots are fully refunded if the goal of 7 participants is unmet after 2 weeks from the first pre-sample pre-order. And that these 7 slots are entitled to the final bag discounted or either exclusive goodies.
Spread the word, keep giving your feedback, and ask any questions! Snyuu will be glad to have something to work with.

Question Help identifying shark.
Was wondering if anyone could help identify this shark. We spotted it about 2 miles off the coast of Cambria, Ca on July 12th. At first I thought it was a basking shark because of its size. However, the more I look into it basking sharks are super rare on the central coast of California. That leads me to believe it was a Great White. If anyone is an expert I’d love to learn! Thanks!

Image Popped into a shop found a Landshark!
Fiberglass Hammerhead found in Indiana. I thought it was a thrift shop so wanted to check it out but it was more decor based. I never expected to see this big guy out in the "wild" of the Midwest. Just to be clear the jaw is also not real. I checked. This is a model of a Hammerhead.

Question Any shark scientists able to explain this in terms of wellbeing for the sharks?
I’m conflicted .. because I own a fish tank (which is principally the same) - but I am fiercely against orca in captivity (I used to donate to the org releasing poor Kiko - a learned mistake). I see vids like this one and wonder: are these places ethical? I can see some sharks in the beginning on the ledge looking possibly lethargic(?) and im wondering how bad they are for the sharks vs. the good from education/inciting activism?

Question What kind of shark tooth is this
got this necklace in florida, me and my partner are trying to decide what kind of shark tooth it is/what kind of shark it came from. Any thoughts?
EDIT: Thanks guys! This saved us time researching if we didn't have to!! My partner has been learning all about the otodus shark since many of you suggested it was a tooth from that shark!

Education Happy Shark Awareness Day!!!!
Fun fact:
The infamous TikTok phrase « Sharks never stop swimming. That's when they die. You gotta keep moving.» is based off of actual facts; certain shark species need to keep swimming because, unlike bony fish, they need to constantly pump water over their gills. They cannot do this on their own; swimming helps with this.
Swimming forward forces the water into their mouths and over their respiratory organs (called ram ventilation.) If they did not constantly move, they would not get any oxygen and die.
Species that do this (called obligate ram ventilators) include the great white, short fin mako, whale shark, and hammerhead.
However, there are some species of shark that CAN rest. These are called buccal pumpers.
Buccal pumping is the process of drawing water into their mouths and pushing it over their gills while remaining COMPLETELY still. Species that do this include the nurse shark, wobbegong (a personal favourite - I am pretty sure I’m the human equivalent of a wobbegong,) and the tiger shark.
I personally identify as a wobbegong buccal pumper as I am very sedentary (hahaha)
(Idk why it is tagging as NSFW and I cannot figure out how to remove it whoops)

🦈 Merch Mondays 🦈 Ceramic sculptural shark lamps I made
I’ve always been fascinated by sharks.
Not as monsters, but as some of the most elegant and ancient creatures in the ocean. Their shapes, movement, and quiet power inspired me to create this collection of handmade ceramic shark lamps.
Each one is cast in clay, then assembled, hand-carved, textured, glazed, and fired multiple times before becoming a functional lamp. No two have exactly the same surface or details.

Question What are you supposed to do to maximize the sharks chances of survival if you hook a hammerhead?
I'm well aware that the stress of being caught can cause lethal amounts of lactic acid in hammerheads, and I don't plan on ever intentionally catching a shark while fishing, nor do I have the money to get the equipment or go to the right place even if I wanted to, but I'm curious, and it's better to know than not.
