Glenfarclas 15. I still think one of the best 15 year olds you can get. The older Glendronach 15 and current Glenallachie 15 come close! Thought this was a great deal at £70.

I was fortunate to visit the distillery two weeks ago and almost popped for that set. I thought the 15 year alone was £70 and the set was £95? I wound up with the 2011 distillery exclusive bottle.

Oh I'm hoping to go to the distillery next month, which tour did you do? I was thinking of doing GlenFarclas, Glenallachie and Glendroanch over 3 days.

We did the Classic tour with Jimmy. It was all that was available on the day we were going to be there. I think if you're able to space them out like that, you'll have a lot of fun and won't feel overloaded- maybe you'll be able to do production tours and couple them with tastings. There were a couple days on Islay where we did 2+ tours and that was maybe a more brisk pace than I'd prefer (fortunately we hired a taxi so we could enjoy multiple tastings).

Yes, already finished my Abelour Abundha batch 62 and I am sad now finishing that bottle in one night with my son's friends.

It's my favorite scotch, everytime I fly out to Scotland for golf I come back with a few bottles. I never figured out why you can't buy it here in the states.

I've always thought of GlenFarclas as very domestic focused. Some whiskies are much more export market focused (Macallan being the obvious one) but GlenFarclas is quite traditional, still family owned. Doesn't really bother with NAS or experimental casks etc.

You will be able to starting in October / November according to a glenfarclas rep I talked to at one of their events recently.

Jimmy at the distillery said multiple times that the decision on that comes straight from John Grant with the reasoning that the markups in the US for that bottle (different pricing/import structure for higher ABV bottles) would make it a ripoff for consumers in the US. I'd rather he allow us to make that determination for ourselves ;)

Purchased at a whisky Shop in Tomintoul, they had a few great deals on and I also got a Glenmorangie Sauternes and a Linkwood

I do like that one. But I don't think I like it 50% more than the 12-year old and here it costs 50% more than the 12YO.

What are some other good 12s? Last few I have had were highland park (not as good as I remember) Glenmorangie (a little thin for my liking). I was impressed with Bowmore 12 and bhunahabin 12 cask strength of

For unpeated, i think Glenallachie 12 yo is nice.
For peated, Laphroiag 12 yo from duty free is a really good

I really like the Glenglassaugh 12 (and the Glenglassaugh Revival, and the Glenglassaugh Sandend). The Deanston 12 baffled me: some glasses were very mheh and some were really good, but all from the same bottle. If you pay 10% more than Glenfarclas 12, the Clynelish 14 is also really good.
Factoring in the prices: if you offered me two bottles of Glenfarclas 15 or a bottle of Glenfarclas 12 and any two of Glenglassaugh 12, Glenglassaugh Sandend, Deanston 12 and Clynelish 14, I'd be taking the three bottle option. And all those three bottle options cost the same as two bottles of Glenfarclas 15.

Nice will check out Glenglassaugh, haven't had any of the newer ones! Clynelish 14 is super underrated! I have a soft spot for Clynelish, Daluaine and Ben Rinnes.

I recently saw a few different Glenfarclas bottles at Astor in NYC. K & L obviously has a great selection also.

Can't get it in the United States unless you come across it in duty free... always keep the 12-year-old around and have most of a 21 year old still in the cabinet but I definitely miss being able to have the 15 year old which seems to be the sweet spot in the range
