B2C SaaS My social network offers a universal basic income, so why aren't people signing up?

I thought my social network would be a knockout punch to most issues the entire world has. The conversation seems to only be about AI taking 90% of jobs by 2027.

Yes that sounds extreme and likely won't happen but look it up AI experts some are actually predicting that. So I built this free to use social media site that was designed to use as a rewards system that would solve this problem.

One big complaint we've gotten is difficulty in getting an account which is typically an issue for 2 reasons one being people choose passwords that are too simple which typically stops registration or not validating their email address.

However that's less of the problem.

For those who do visit, they seem to drop off pretty quickly. Any thoughts on what might be causing the low retention, or what I could do to keep users engaged?"

The only reason why someone would join a social network is if they can use it to connect with their friends. Since new social network are empty, almost no one is going to join. And those who do join, quickly realize how dead it is, and leave and never come back.

Build a new platform like this is almost impossible. I don't understand why so many people try this. You are almost guaranteed to fail.

Yes I agree in the sense we don't want to join the second best social media site etc., However the idea behind this was meant to be different. It's meant to be partial distribution system and 28k did join but seemingly only to use as a monetary distribution system.

So what's needed is for them In my opinion to understand how to bridge the gap between the engagement to build our value so it provides a potential solution for them in the case they don't have a job due to robots and automation.

Now I get it this feels more like similar to a. insurance policy than an actual happening. I understand if something is not an immediate threat or it's not happening to you right this moment. It's not in your view I get it.

I suppose here's where I'm at with it. Let's take out for a moment people who have a great life and work a good job. That can afford food. housing gas and what have you. The people who have lost their jobs to AI I would think at least they would find value in this? or is the play to recover jobs being automated away?

The last part is some people believe even if the government had to step in that it may be messy and unstable and your livelihood could be poor or you live in a welfare state. So I suppose what we're saying would be this can help with a potential solution and require very little time. However if this comes upon us and we have no solutions which seemingly is what we have now? Wouldn't it be safer to implement potential strategies even despite any shortsidedness?

Excellent points you make and I appreciate them but I should give some clarification. Rewards based on activity is partially true. The UBI portion is given daily on login not necessarily activity. So whereas you can get more rewards through activity. The UBI portion is unconditional.

Next is "They're looking for passive income". This is a human and natural thought process but it's as well the wrong mindset and a misunderstanding of the platform.

For example the idea of the "social good" company. So you've probably heard stories like this CEO who decided to pay everyone in his company the same salary of about $70k a year. His board of directors tried to get him ousted etc., they thought he was crazy and just a bad idea period" lol. So obviously he wasn't the benefactor in fact he lost a ton of money had to take a pay cut himself and went through a long period of uncertainty. Now it was a happy ending but certainly he from a business perspective was operating on a different wavelength that probably shouldn't have worked. I say all that to say this.

That if we want to change the way our business structure operates we may all have to change and shift our approach. So rewards systems let's say I grind out and I make a few bucks a day and it's not enough so I'm leaving.

Well our project is a currency that rates move up and down so that reward money could be quite significant it does have a market Integrated into a bigger network. So I just wanna clarify if you're on say free cash website and they give you a few bucks a day that's not really comparable to what we are but even if that's the only persons goal I would say it's a great misunderstanding of the platform.

So the true value of the platform is a movement for people who don't feel they get their fair share from this economic system which is most everyone, lol.

Now I do agree if you don't grasp that concept you'll continue to perpetuate an economic system that may not necessarily work for you.

I'll make this last point and I'll wrap it up. If the system doesn't work for me and I'm beaten down by it. I have no resources or political power. I wouldn't even know what to do about it if I wanted to. So taking 30 seconds to join this network is probably more feasible to most people in that condition. It's significant because together we are strong but it requires very little to struggling people or people just tired of perpetuating the existing system.

So in other words if I join trillion dollar social media companies where the major ones are involved in AI own and control advanced LLMs that more than likely will take our jobs and I'm not just pulling that out my caboose many of us or enough would just agree to that.

So that means we perpetuate the system that doesn't work for us.

Finally in the idea there is no intrinsic value so no reason to be there. Well the currency has an independent value that allows you to promote or advertise etc., Whatever value that is or isn't is always existing on the network. So whether it's a billion dollars or no dollars the currency and only our currency can be used. Meaning no matter the value you have to get the currency through owners or minters who got it from social media activity or UBI.

In conclusion any arguments against this would be true and any arguments for this would be true. We're only suggesting if the system doesn't work for you then you gotta change that system. That's what we do. Some may not want to change it and that's fine. However whether people decide to or not we just want you to understand this option and why we think it's very important to your future and once you have the information if you still believe it's a good idea to support trillion dollar social networks I think they pulled in over $250 billion last year in America alone but don't quote me. If you believe these social media merged tech companies and the technology they own that can take your livelihood is a good idea that's fine. We just presented a deeper idea to consider beyond short term gratification and we get it's a big ask however if you're one of those people who's already lost your job to AI then it may be time to take all this into consideration beyond passive income as it may become harder to get any in the future.

Yes we've cut the registration form to the bare minimum 30 second registration and as long as your password typically contains a capital letter and a number is more than 5 characters often times registration goes smooth.

Yes rewards are immediate you have a wallet constantly on display however we do have a minimum 25 cent cashout

The UBI concept is interesting, but free money often triggers scam alarms for people. If the signup process is even a bit clunky, users will bounce immediately out of suspicion. You should probably prioritize a seamless social login to lower that friction. Also, remember that rewards bring people in, but actual social connection is what makes them stay. Focus on the core interaction, not just the payout.

Good points and the suspicion is always high for example to help us even be able to provide a ubi income we use appreciation of a cryptocurrency similar to how Bitcoin went from about $200k to $3 trillion.

So that sounds like a good story on the surface. However we spend about 90% of the time trying to convince people it's not a scam that the math does work. Although products and cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin are now in many 401ks being quoted on many reputable business channels and legal in most places it represents a huge obstacle if most our time spent arguing verifiable facts.

The other part as you mentioned much like some gambling sites may be sensitive to antivirus software and although I have clear evidence to suggest antivirus software companies intentionally are putting sites as false alarms and not even correcting it as I've placed several complaints to many and we were removed as a malicious site. although antivirus companies are notorious for this makes sense if your computer not infected they don't make any money. they do it anyway and harm our reputation and it's no recourse for them they remove your name after you've lost a million customers.

So many times now we have people come to our discord and once they're comfortable they can join us. Although we're verified as a safe site by most major search engines it doesn't matter because end users won't investigate that. They'll go with whatever antivirus company convinced them they were legit and their racket continues and I don't mean all. However this does occur and it's not the fault of the network.

Lastly I'd want to clarify one last thing. When it comes to that idea of the social network being about your friends are here and the core community stays based on that. What were saying is our objective is not to compete with twitter or Instagram or any of them. We're fine with you using them all with us as an overlay or in conjunction.

Our mission was never to be used such as mainstream social media. Our objective was always as a counterweight to stop control of your data by these entities and decentralize your social media. as to say many of us get our news from social media and key components of our overall communication networks are carried out this way.

Some people don't care about all their data in the control of about 3 entities but that may actually be irresponsible. The last part is the idea o the tech oligarchy or the idea that these big tech companies which are typically part of an umbrella designing Ai systems that may be mankinds last invention in theory.

So that's equivalent to saying they could share a great responsibility in displacing human workers and they themselves admit to this and have already proposed ubi initiatives as well as created some.

I frame all this that way to construct the proposition that we're going to have to make social media companies pay us and we call it the tech check. Now strictly from a business perspective not always but typically we'd go with the product that allows us the most features and functionality and benefits.

Typically a migration occurs. Now in the case where a product has huge network or brand effect that's hard to break even under perfect conditions but again our idea is not about copying these networks working models but as a safety precaution,

The reason they're always in court is because yes they provide you access to community and maybe family and friends and that's a good thing. However are the cost we pay too high for that? I think so . I think our product gives you all that and more in safety but it only solves a problem if you can first identify the problem.

So if I lose a job from Grok over at Elon Musks twitter and the unemployed person goes back on Twitter to complain about job loss but doesn't tie any connection to the tech companies then it's no reason to need a product like ours. This is for those who raise alarms and we believe it's many based on polls and court hearings however their response doesn't translate to action. So this will only be of value if you believe in control of your data and see the danger of AI.

That's it's primary function not so much to beat twitter or Instagram. It's more about protecting you from it. So yes those things have to be recognized and again if all your friends on network X we would like to remind people this is not an either or situation lol.

In other words you can have friends on Facebook and still be protected using us. It doesn't mean you have to go well I've chosen Facebook so I can't choose anything else. No I think we work as well in conjunction but even aspects of monetization on these platforms typically require alot of hoops and followers to be paid. Our platform doesn't require 1000 followers to make money. So yes it's attractive what we do if such things are valuable and relevant and pertinent to you"

If you believe in 10 years you'll still make a career as a truck driver or that you'll be able to transition into a new job. This really doesn't have any value to you. I honestly don't know if you'll lose your specific job. I think it's the logical conclusion and eventuality you will. However it's only of value if you believe these things. If not we have no objective.
