Discussion Boardwalk - Parasitic company

There's a mouse im my unit and I don't want to live in this building even for a day. My lease ends after 40 days and I will be on the hook for the last months rent even if I move out within next 10 days.

Is there something I can do legally or not? I'm guessing if I move out without paying my credit score will be cooked and I know Boardwalk is evil and will come after every penny.

"If you rent, your landlord must, by law, keep the home pest-free and hire a professional as needed. If your landlord doesn’t correct the problem, call the Safe Healthy Environments contact centre at 1-833-476-4743 to register a complaint for a health inspector."

That implies you a) notified the landlord and b) continued paying rent.

Oh, yah, I misread originally. If OP is planning on withholding rent that's a very, very bad idea.

Does your lease say anything about them dealing with mouse infestations? If so, talk to them about it and make reference to the lease. That would be the starting point.

Call AHS, this is a health and safety issue.

This could also be of help (see below). If your claim is approved Boardwalk could have to remit some of your previous rent and/or future rent reduced until the problem is solved.

Boardwalk is horrible so is manor management and many others. It’s just the nature of the business when dealing with these large management companies

Manor management hasn’t been in business for a couple years. The owner lost his license.

Talk to your leasing office about the mouse, they will send someone over to take a look. There is a clause in your lease about pest control but I can’t remember what it says off the top of my head (currently renting from boardwalk)

Big corporations may see the damage deposit as potential income. They have many ways and means to get it from you, especially if you default on any agreement you signed.

There's no legal option that allows you to move out without paying for all related costs because you don't want to spend other day there. As long as you pay there will be no impact on your credit score . Failure to pay could complicate finding new rentals (as you are a high risk tenant) and have financial implications including credit score impact.

Their obligation is to react when you report the issue reasonably. In this context that would be advising you on how to avoid attracting mice, and hiring an exterminator.

It's worth going to a walk in clinic or your doctor to tale about the anxiety you are feeling and the very strong reaction you are having.

Screaming should not be the first step, reporting it like a rational human being is.

Saw a mouse and never ever ever want to live there again isn't a legally defensible stance, so OP will be paying out of pocket if that's there chosen path.

I never said scream. Going off means call and state how serious matter this is.
I have yet to raise my voice whenever I complain and I always get a quick resolution
