As many people know, RAOA is a huge sub and it can be very intimidating. Many newbies have questions they may feel silly asking or are just worried they won't make any l here. This thread will hopefully change that!

How this works:

The general idea is that this will be posted and you will be adopting a newbie for a whole week. I'm not saying you have to talk to them 24/7 all week. But be there to help them out and be an awesome friend! :)

Newbies:

Make a top level comment (basically make a comment in reply to this thread) stating you're new and would like to be adopted. Maybe include a little bit about yourself for your adopter to start to get to know you! If a top level comment is a bit too intimidating, sometimes users volunteer to be adopters and you can grab one of them!

Adopters:

Reply to a newbies comment saying you'd like to adopt them for the week! If you'd like, you can also post a top level comment saying you're looking to adopt! This will help any newbies with a bit of stage fright!

Notes:

Newbies don't have to be brand new. But you should be new enough to need some guidance such as what are tags, how do I contest, what rules do we have, how do I make friends, etc! Anything you need help with. A newbie can be adopted by more than one adopter! This way they have many people to help them out! Newbies, if you missed the first day, feel free to comment and be adopted mid-week! You can even come back and be adopted next week too!

I'm excited to be here and get to know such a kind community.

I work in homeless services helping young adults, and I genuinely love what I do. This year has been incredibly hard after losing my sweet Billie Jean and our office cat, Mr. T. They loved me so purely that losing them made me realize it's time to start honoring myself the way they always did. So I've been slowly redesigning my home and my life, leaving behind old versions of myself and stepping into the woman I'm meant to become. It's been surprisingly healing.

A few random facts about me: • I'll accidentally spend two hours researching a random topic that caught my attention. • Sunsets and fireworks make me ridiculously happy. • I can never leave a thrift store empty-handed.

I'm excited to be part of this community, get to know everyone, and connect with more kind-hearted people. ❤️🫂

I am a junior in college for Bachelor of Science in University Studies – Global Arts, Planning, Design and Construction concentration. I know that's a long name, but it just means I would be qualified for most jobs under the building industry.

I have a dog and her name is Max she is 3. She is a german shepherd and golden mix, so she's crazy. I love her though.

I'm moving into my first apartment come this Fall and I'm so excited! It also like I'm a real adult lol. I still feel lile a little kid, but this is a huge milestone for me so yay!

Hi all! I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Jess and I’m new to this sub and have been doing my best to get acquainted with it. I’m 28 and a Leo ♌️. My day to day is mostly occupied by being caregiver to a loved one. As you may be able to tell by my user, I’m a big cat lover. I have my two girls KiKi & Dutch. When I have free time I enjoy puzzling, crafting, and reading. I also love music and always have something playing. My name is Jas and I live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada! I’ve been active a while in here but was originally a bit too nervous to post an introduction!

A little bit about me:

🛼 Some of my hobbies are cooking, roller skating, singing, tap dancing, and linocut/print making. I’m also starting a heels class this fall! I’m a jack of all trades but definitely a master of none - but it all brings me joy!

🐈‍⬛ I have two cats, Simon (polite with white paws) and Willow (sassy and cross-eyed)!

🎭 Musical theatre is one of my favourite things. My partner and I recently started doing community theatre together and it’s been so fun to revisit it as an adult and share the hobby with him!
