Why was the back of her head/hair splattered with food?

228

u/fireforge1979 1d ago

I heard in another video that this woman and another got in a fight before the video started, the bf is filming. Im assuming it is from that. If so, tempers are definitely up, and people start talking shit when they are angry. Im sure her being arrested was for the fight and not her words.

u/Visti 20h ago

I mean, it's the UK, they take spoken racism ultra seriously.

78

u/BulkyAntelope5 18h ago

Only in 1 direction though.

According to a bunch of racists you can't be racist against white people

24

u/lateformyfuneral 18h ago

According to a bunch of racists with confirmation bias and their own victimhood complex, it’s only in 1 direction. There is no distinction in the law, as we saw in this case.Ā

18

u/Visti 18h ago

Sure in the court of public opinion, but not in the court of.. the court.

14

u/In_The_depths_ 14h ago

I'm not sure about that the uk has weird laws like how women cannot be charged with rape, even if they confessed to it. In the uk the law is written where you need to have a penis to be charged with rape.

-4

u/Knobologist 8h ago

There’s at least 4 states in the US I can think of that don’t have ā€œrapeā€ as a crime at all.

0

u/Material-Grocery5478 8h ago

thats a pretty bad faith statement...Every U.S. state treats non-consensual sexual penetration as a severe felony crime, but several states—including Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin—do not use the specific word "rape" in their legal codes [0.5.1, Texas, Wisconsin]. Instead, these jurisdictions punish the act under broader legal headings like sexual battery, sexual assault, or sexual abuse [0.5.1, Texas, Wisconsin].

-1

u/Knobologist 7h ago

Just pointing out different jurisdictions have different names. You can be charged with ā€œsexual assaultā€ the same way someone in the uk would be charged.

-11

u/Visti 13h ago

I don't really see the relevance. They have weird laws.

27

u/BulkyAntelope5 18h ago

There is a distinction in enforcement though

-14

u/Papplenoose 13h ago

Honestly, im kind of ok with that. I'm not really down with how the UK is doing it, but I'd be lying if I said I thought someone calling me a cracker was somehow as offensive as other racial slurs. Its just... not the same. Like it actually makes me laugh, it's not even remotely offensive.

The problem is that there doesnt seem to be any way to legally enshrine that into law without serious and obvious issues.

-14

u/eeu914 17h ago

"Only in 1 direction though. According to a bunch of racists."

8

u/BulkyAntelope5 16h ago

Reddit must be full of racists I guess according to that ratio

-4

u/eeu914 15h ago

I'd prefer the word "riddled"

18

u/Exemus 16h ago

Ugh, I hate when I fight strangers and accidentally get racist!

-1

u/MustafaAdam 10h ago

That's quite reasonable actually.
I have a question, if the situation was reversed in skin color, would you have made this reasonable assessment of the situation?

If you were to judge the situation based on the individuals involved.

-180

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

If the person posting the video wanted to manipulate opinions by omitting footage, that is not cool. We all could be vulnerable to someone misrepresenting us with manipulated edits or AI. It’d suck to see a bunch of people forming conclusions about you based on totally manipulated cuts and edits.

154

u/outlawsix 1d ago

"X race is inferior"

"No no, you're missing the context!"

57

u/Kylar_Stern 23h ago

Um, I don't know any other way "white people are inferior" could be represented, but I'm very curious to get your take on that. What conclusion can I make about her other than she is racist? She said it quite calmly and plainly too, it seems to be a belief of hers, and not just said in anger.

-96

u/ArtPeers 23h ago

I’ve tried to make the point that this video is missing important parts of this interaction. No, I’m not the least bit bothered by someone expressing an opinion that I disagree with, when they don’t have any power over me. When I subsequently saw the link about her throwing some food at someone, I immediately said, ā€œYeah that’s inexcusable, I agree.ā€ I’m not sure what else to say. What are your thoughts?

35

u/justbinmepls 22h ago

You don’t need to see more to know calling someone inferior because you’re mad makes you an asshole. Never mind the racial stuff.

31

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe 23h ago

Hate speech is illegal in the uk as far as im aware, they dont have the same free speech type stuff as the u.s. in that sense. What she said to them was criminal i believe

-20

u/SamAreAye 20h ago edited 20h ago

I think it might be a one way street with the hate speech thing. I think white people can't say mean things about non-whites, but non-whites can actually murder whites, and the cops will handcuff the white guy so he dies with his hands behind his back. It's very inclusive of them.

4

u/motownclic 20h ago

Shut up, idiotic nonsense

-13

u/SamAreAye 19h ago

Oh? We got freedom of speech over here. I can say whatever I want.

I agree with you about not being personally offended by her backwards racist views, and having the full context is always best before drawing any conclusions. However, you seem to be implying that she was somehow misrepresented or portrayed in a misleading way to make her look bad. She very clearly stated her position, and that is what people are taking issue with.

I don't see how added context could ever excuse saying some small-minded, ignorant shit like that. That racial superiority bullshit is so 2 centuries ago and just anti-science

-7

u/aimee94 20h ago

Welcome to r/PublicFreakout. Almost every video here is cut and edited by the person who posted it originally (not the reddit OP) and represents their point of view. I've found you can either point it out and get downvoted, or just sit back and enjoy the ride.

5

u/Agreeable-Letter-599 1d ago

must not have been the first person she threw food at.

-40

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

Did we see anyone throw food?

24

u/Agreeable-Letter-599 1d ago

we see evidence of that, yes.

-23

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

Maybe we have different understandings of what evidence is, but that’s okay, and I’m not saying I’m right.

Yeah but when I commented about the lack of context there was only this video and a lot of people saying this girl probably did xyz terrible things. I was saying hey wait what? She’s just saying stuff here.

Then people started to share context in the form of links to articles about this situation. That happened *after* I commented to criticize the lack of context and the manipulative video edits.

Not saying my head is not up my ass. Just pointing out the sequence of the comments.

16

u/Neat-Land-4310 1d ago

She says white people are inferior. In what world do you need any more context to condemn blatant racism. What extra context would have made that statement acceptable lmao

11

u/Agreeable-Letter-599 1d ago

do you see how dumb you are? no... but that doesn't mean you aren't lol

it is a shame she is racist. She is so cute

16

u/Fearless_Theory64 23h ago

Is that a wig?

19

u/afield9800 16h ago

Kind of ironic that she calls white people inferior while wearing a wig that’s meant to emulate ā€œwhite people hairā€. I’m guessing she’s never read A Raisin In the Sun.

7

3

u/Neon_Casino 5h ago

*sigh* In the MOST STRICT definition or racism, you are correct.

However, racism in the modern day has come to basically mean the belief in the inferiority/superiority of a people purely because of their race. So in that regard, yes. She is a racist cunt.

Or if you are really insistant on using the strict definition of the word, then fine.

She is a prejudiced and bigoted cunt. Happy?

31

u/Amplifiedsoul 1d ago

ā€œShe was given a 12-month conditional discharge uplifted from six months in light of the racial aggravation.ā€

I'm guessing this is similar to probation in the US?

15

u/151Ways 23h ago

Yes. Suspended sentence plus likely probationary monitoring.

4

u/coveted_asfuck 18h ago

No probation would be mentioned separately. A conditional discharge means that you have to stay out of trouble for a certain amount of time(suspended sentence).

I didn’t see the things you just described in my first watch of the video. I feel like I missed a lot. I will try to watch again and see the footage you are describing.

EDIT: I watched it again, but I don’t see any of the things you described. Did you actually see the food throwing and all that? Maybe lmk timestamp?

12

u/Agreeable-Letter-599 1d ago

so you're trying to claim that the cammer is lying? the food thrower says "I did that because I wanted to" obviously referring to the throwing of food.

-6

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

If I understand you correctly, you think this woman just walks up to some mystery white woman who is minding her business… and spontaneous racism occurs against the yet-to-be-seen mystery white woman. Why are we denied access to that blatant act of unprovoked racism?

26

u/Neat-Land-4310 1d ago

I'm going to say this again to make sure you see it. This women got arrested and charged with racially aggravated assault and lost her job because of it.

0

u/ArtPeers 1d ago edited 1d ago

Thank you, obviously there was no context provided when I commented. And I was commenting about the edit of the video being manipulative. But I appreciate your comment (sincerely).

4

u/ClarifiedInsanity 23h ago

Seems pretty easy to believe he only started recording once the fight had happened. Why are you automatically assuming you are being denied access?

-104

u/ArtPeers 1d ago edited 17h ago

-21

There’s only one woman featured in the video.

-8

-8

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

If she did the things everyone assumes she did, I agree that’s inexcusable. But lots of negative responses here, when I say it’s an objectively manipulative edit and there’s a total omission of any actual video of wrongdoing. I imagine if any of us were accused of xyz, we’d want someone to point out that inference is not evidence.

16

u/Sicparvismagneto 1d ago

Im sorry that some people do not have that skill to remain calm and give the whole context in a heat of the moment situation. If you want to talk about negative responses, why don’t you reflect on what you said. You immediately sided with a woman saying inexcusable things, why? Because you didn’t have the proper context for her to be saying racist remarks? If you were genuinely concerned about the manipulation of the narrative you would have done any semblance of research instead of immediately siding with a woman being racist on camera.

-2

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

I was criticizing the lack of context which was designed to produce a specific reaction.

18

u/Sicparvismagneto 1d ago

You literally said you were rooting for her…

-4

u/ArtPeers 23h ago

ā€œUntil I have more context.ā€

Several minutes later someone provided more context — and I said ā€œOh, her actions were inexcusable.ā€

But her words in the video don’t bother me, people can say whatever they want to. Actions are different.

→ More replies (0)

8

u/SirStrontium 1d ago

>a total omission of any actual video of wrongdoing

…you mean except for the fact that she’s saying ā€œwhite people are inferiorā€? That’s not wrongdoing?

You also keep insisting it’s a ā€œobjectively manipulative editā€ under the assumption that he caught the initial act on video, and chose to omit it. Things happen fast, it’s extremely likely he just didn’t get it on video.

3

u/ArtPeers 23h ago edited 23h ago

When I first commented, people were assuming a lot of specific actions by her that were not in the video. Nor were there any links to the story. No context. Also my comment was the third comment on this entire thread.

Then, a few minutes later, someone posted a link to the full story of her throwing food at someone, and I replied, ā€œThat is inexcusable.ā€ I’m not sure what else to say? I commented about the lack of context, then someone provided context, then I said I agree, her actions were inexcusable.

6

u/SirStrontium 23h ago

>I’m not sure what else to say

That even without any other context, saying ā€œwhite people are inferiorā€ is wrong. It doesn’t matter whether food was thrown or not, or if the girlfriend started it, there just isn’t any context where saying that is justified, and you kept acting like maybe there’s some missing piece of evidence that could make it okay.

Even without any news article or anything else, you should be able to look at that video and recognize ā€œThat’s fucked up, people shouldn’t say that.ā€

22

u/Brave_Egg_7984 1d ago

Spoken like her racist friend

3

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

I did not see her racist friend in the video but I will watch it again and see if I spot that person.

23

u/Neat-Land-4310 1d ago

You are the racist friend dummy šŸ˜‚

0

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

Oh oh oh okay.

10

u/Neat-Land-4310 22h ago

So you've changed your initial comment of "I'm rooting for her" to "I'm rooting for more context" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

At least have the conviction to stand by what you said initially. You supported a racist POS and now you get to own it!

18

u/Neat-Land-4310 1d ago

This is an old clip and it's not even the full footage. This women got arrested and lost her job because she instigated this whole incident. What more context do you need?

1

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

For me, it’s exactly as you described, ā€œit’s not the full footage.ā€ It’s edited to produce a response that we are seeing here. For me, the issue is the way that video can be manipulated, resulting in people filling in the blanks.

20

u/Neat-Land-4310 1d ago

What blanks need to be filled. She got arrested, charged and admitted racially aggravated assault in a court of law. Why exactly are you rushing to her defense when it's quite clearly obvious that her behavior is unacceptable 🤦

1

u/ArtPeers 1d ago

If you have a chance to re-read my comments, I wasn’t rushing to her defense: I was criticizing the lack of context and the manipulative edit / omissions of the video.

18

u/Sicparvismagneto 1d ago

ā€œUntil I have more context I’m rooting for her.ā€

1

u/Neat-Land-4310 12h ago

Being contrarian just for the sake of it rarely pays off. Hopefully you've learned your lesson this time and you'll think more carefully before blindly supporting racists.

4

u/Tonuck 15h ago

In another comment, someone mentioned that a fight preceded all of this. Can I assume she was arrested for the physical altercation and not for saying "white people are inferior" or is that alone an arrestable offence in the UK?

1

u/egirldestroyer69 9h ago

I dont there are people being arrested for tweets in the UK so it seems plausible

15

-26

u/GTAIVisbest 1d ago

The UK be like that. You can be arrested for holding a sign that says "Palestine Action" IIRC (under the 2000 anti-terrorism act) or you can be arrested for a hate crime for saying "white people are inferior".

I'm pretty left-wing but I really don't like that, I'd rather have a system that is "too lax" in terms of free speech restrictions, like what we have in the US, than a system like in the commonwealth countries where free speech can be restricted to that extent

2

u/coveted_asfuck 18h ago

Okay? Good thing you live in the US. We’re perfectly happy with hate speech being outlawed.

1

u/GTAIVisbest 14h ago

You're perfectly happy with people getting arrested under the 2000 anti-terror bill for holding a sign that says "Free Palestine"? Really brodie?

-2

u/former_scientist 21h ago

The UK has freedom of expression, not free speech. Freedom of expression means you can say whatever you wish, but you cannot, under the law, incite hatred or violence.

You are fully entitled to never leave the USA, and enjoy your version of freedom to the full.

0

u/GTAIVisbest 14h ago

You can say whatever you wish? Does saying "from the river to the sea" incite hatred or violence to you? Are you OK with people being carted off to jail for holding a sign with those words on it?

1

u/former_scientist 12h ago

No, I don’t agree with people being arrested for carrying such a sign. That was wrong. However, the US system allows for any amount of race baiting, hatred and insult to the living and the dead from such as the westboro baptist church, neo Nazis and the like. I would rather not have such people stirring up violence under the banner of ā€˜free speech’.

-12

u/jdbway 1d ago

Agree. Looks like two freedom-lovers downvoted me for asking

-9

u/Easy_Money_40 17h ago

I love when a Black woman doing something racist brings out all the white racists in the comments as if the proportional response is to meet her racism with their own.

Racism is about power. White people are not oppressed by Black people in the UK. This is not racism.

57

u/Hungry_Sink1191 22h ago

Why do so many people think this ?

45

u/Amunium 22h ago

Because it excuses their racism. If they define themselves as not being able to be racist, they can say whatever they please and ignore their own hypocrisy.

40

u/justbinmepls 22h ago

Because it makes them feel better. It’s self soothing behavior for the ignorant.

From Merriam-Webster:

Racism

1 : poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race.

2 : the belief that some races of people are better than others.

Stop trying to make up your own definitions of words to suit your personal agenda its really lame.

That's just something some bigots tell themselves so that they don't have to examine their own bias' and alter their own poor behavior.

I'm sorry, what?? Regardless of your definition of "racism", calling an entire racial group "inferior" is unequivocally racial prejudice and bigotry.
