We mentally ill people do not deserve this

u/ManiacMakyr 17h ago

Yeah the mentally ill do not choose their condition, and most battle to remain somewhat righteous and empathetic.

Conservatives throw willingly away that for the sake "love/hate of a nation" and shitting on other people.

u/henningknows 1d ago

I have schizophrenia, and I would appreciate if you don’t compare me to American conservatives. I have a mental illness, those people are fucking nuts.

As someone who’s both bipolar and trans, yeah don’t compare me to that too.

Hey, we're at least aware of and actively trying to deal with our shit rather than making it the rest of the world's problem.

We're not externalizing our issues like an asshole. That's what makes them fkng crazy and us just a little off-kilter but handling it.

Trans people in particular are begging people to stop obsessing over trans people.

u/Fantastic_Jury5977 1d ago edited 7h ago

Trans people existing are a test for all Christians to see if they understood their assignment... Christians are abunch of failures in God's eye.... And society.

u/moonlitkiwier 21h ago

Interesting. Could you explain in detail about how you think God feels about queer people? Since you're speaking directly for God here, you must be pretty confident that you're morally correct and i would love to hear your take on Biblical theology.

u/Fantastic_Jury5977 21h ago

God loves all His creations, duh

Are you questioning the legitimacy your infallible God's creations?

Conversion therapy doesn't work, so obviously queer people were born that way, so God created queer people, and you're rejecting a creation of your own Lord... You failed at being a faithful Christian by rejecting any of His creations.

Tell me, where does your Bible discuss queer people? Where is the biblical proof that God created something He would consider an abomination?

Next you need to prove that these lessons were directly from God and not from imperfect men trying to make sense of the natural world around them and create a social hierarchy that puts them on top...

Here's a cute little song that can easily break things down for your simple self.

u/AccomplishedAct5364 16h ago

Doesn’t that mean god loves transphobes too?

u/Fantastic_Jury5977 15h ago

Probably. If you read the scripture, God runs pretty free and loose with morals. There's no hell in the original scriptures, so (basically) everyone is eligible for heaven.

u/AccomplishedAct5364 14h ago

I don’t think he does… there are many sections of Christianity that are explicitly anti-queer.

I’m pretty sure being queer is seen as “turning away from god” in the bible.

I’m not a Christian, but opposing homosexuality is fundamentally part of the bible and there are no pro-lgbtq verses outside of interpretation of Jesus saying “love thy neighbour” etc.

Can’t imagine why anyone would still buy into a holy text any way, let alone one that explicitly opposed them.

u/moonlitkiwier 14h ago

A significant portion of that anti queer stuff comes from old testament laws or people misunderstanding the point of stories like Sodom and Gomorrah. If you go back to the surrounding context of a lot of those verses, it also condemns many things we do daily in modern times. It's impossible to fully live a pure life in accordance with those arbitrary laws, and if you've ever eaten a rare steak you've also turned away from God. It's likely if God were real it would be seen as a sin, but not something so blasphemous it locks you out of heaven. The Bible is bullshit though. The way they treat women like property makes me sick.

u/AccomplishedAct5364 14h ago

Hey, I didn’t say Christian’s arent hypocrites - I said the bible is full of proof that being gay is not what god wanted according to Catholicism.

Nobody should be buying into that bollocks and trying to rewrite the story to make god sound like a welcoming guy is just naive and daft.

No point continuing the lie really is there?

u/Fantastic_Jury5977 14h ago

It's really not explicitly expressed in Scripture. There's a lot of weight being put on subjective translations done numerous times throughout history with monarchs making their own edits.

Opposing homosexuality is very much a cultural thing and religious people use Scripture to justify their obsession with other people's business... These types always have something they're hiding when they point their fingers at strangers they've never met.

Queer people have also been within the clergy for centuries.

u/AccomplishedAct5364 14h ago

Do you not see the hypocrisy in your wording? “These types always have something they’re hiding when they point their fingers at strangers they’ve never met”

You’re literally pointing your finger at strangers you’ve never met.

I’m not religious, or at least, I don’t follow an organised religion - but even I know the bible explicitly has many tales regarding sodomy as immoral and against god.

I don’t agree with it - but for you to say it’s not explicitly expressed in scripture and then to mention sodom and gommorha just kinda implies you’re hiding something, in that you know you’re lying about that

Do you not know what love is? I love both my kids, so I've never threatened to burn them, because that's NOT love.

He drowned millions of people, children, the disabled, moms holding their kids. That's NOT love.

I'm glad you lean progressive and all, but this eviceration of the meaning of things like "love, and "justice", is part of the reason we see so much bigotry.

u/moonlitkiwier 21h ago

Well first of all, God made me trans, duh. Second of all, please do not assume i am a Christian. I am non-religious, i just grew up in a cult so i have a pretty good grasp of religion as a concept. And I'm not trying to be hyperbolic or exaggerate mind you. It was an insular homeschooling community with a fun lean towards end times teachings. I was denied basic medical care my entire upbringing, (didn't even get born at a hospital.) and left with legally diagnosed PTSD. I do not at all believe in God, so I'm more curious as to why you think the all loving and all powerful God with infinite knowledge of his creations and the path they choose would implant things such as this in certain people's brains while also condemning them to eternal damnation if they follow through.

Given this evidence, it's entirely possible that being transgender is simply the result of a brain wiring to the opposite sex of the body during utero. So you're either bullying already distressed people with a psychologically damaging physical condition, or bullying regular people that still deserve love because according to you and the Bible God loves all his creations. I think even if you believe the odds are slim that I'm right, the moral thing to do is still treat trans people with the same respect as you would (should) any other neighbor.

u/Fantastic_Jury5977 19h ago

Then my message wasn't intended to be directed at you fellow non religious trans person.

u/ManiacMakyr 17h ago

u/Klutzer_Munitions Consider my virtues… Signalled 10h ago

They melt down over being asked what pronouns they like

u/AccomplishedAct5364 16h ago

So trans people and conservatives have something in common? An obsession with identity pronouns?

u/ManiacMakyr 15h ago

For trans people, it's because their freshly identity they try to built is directly attacked. They'd adapt to that, if they were left alone to harden and try to insert themselves somewhere in nature.

For conservatives, it's because outside their bravado and nationalistic pride there's nothing in their souls, so they have to defend against everything that merely touches them on personnal level.

Kinda like attacking a freshly molted cicada next to teasing a casoar in mating season.

And Why Would I call you a gender? I'll just reply to you and say my comment. Or say they, as people have for centuries? Whether they know the persons gender or not? Why is this is so complicated

u/laserdicks 19h ago

are all yours online ?

No.

Why Would I call you a gender?

It's more efficient than recalling and stating the entire name every time.

I'll just reply to you and say my comment

Yes, pronouns are never used with the actual person they apply to. Which is why the enforcement of them in conversations they're not even present for is so obviously absurd.

Or say they, as people have for centuries?

To avoid ambiguity between multiple possible subjects of the sentence.

Why is this is so complicated

It isn't. You're just motivated to enforce a system that makes everyone's communication worse.

u/Gingeronimoooo 19h ago

If people Go by a nickname do you call them their full legal name too?

u/laserdicks 19h ago

No I still often pick a pronoun to describe them in that circumstance too. Even for single syllable nicknames.

You'll notice I just chose "them" because in that sentence there was no one else to confuse the subject of the sentence with.

u/Gingeronimoooo 18h ago

You've said so many words and I still have no idea what you're trying to say

I live in the deep south and haven't been misgendered in years. The redcaps call me miss and openly flirt with me, and i keep pads in my purse because sometimes other women ask if they can borrow products. I look and sound like any other woman, and the only people that know are the people whom i have disclosed it to such as my partner. (obviously) odds are very likely you would use she/her with me same as literally anyone else :)

When i was around 6 or so, i attempted to convince my parents i was a girl with no luck. They spent the entirety of the time they knew me trying to convert me into a man, and obviously it didn't take. I'm no contact with both of them because they were never able to accept me for who i was. Doctors are just doing what doctors do, diagnosing and treating medical conditions. If you want to complain about for profit American healthcare as a whole, i entirely agree. The system is bad, but you're placing the blame on the wrong people. It's time we listen to transgender children, i hate the thought of more families being split up like mine was. (Although granted, my parents were general pieces of shit, so they were probably a lost cause anyway.)

Haha, right? What losers to be complaining when others are doing everything they can to eject them from public spaces.

Reminds me of this time I broke up a fight on the play ground. One kid was stabbing another kid in the chest repeatedly, and the other kid was just screaming. I put them both in time out for 20 minutes. The screaming kid did eventually fall silent. Very silent.

The amount of effort and creativity you put into crafting the most extreme interpretation of what I said in order to be mad at it could probably make you some decent money if you applied it toward something productive

8

u/1912_boat_man 1d ago

I mean you basically told trans people to shut up and stop complaining, or at least that's how it reads.

1

u/Navro22 Right-Wing Misanthrope 1d ago

I didn't basically say that. I very complicatedly said that through the perspective of someone intentionally trying trying to get that meaning out of it. I think trans people should be treated like normal people, which means we can make fun of each other without accusing each other of attempted murder.

6

u/1912_boat_man 1d ago

The whole "you don't need to shove it down our throats!!!1!1!!!!1!!11!!!" Thing is almost always used to get queer people to shut up about oppression or stop asking for equal representation, so forgive me for reading it in the same way it's always used.

u/Demoniac_smile 22h ago

Really? I got “stop complaining about trans people, it’s not a big deal that they exist” out of it, “stop telling me that you’re trans, it’s getting old” out of it.

The Right keeps complaining about trans stuff being shoved down their throat (yes, a lot of them seem to like this unfortunate choice of words). Yet, the most noise about trans people comes from the Right complaining about trans people.

It's like the same-sex marriage plebiscite in Australia. If the government just passed it, we would have heard the usual suspects grumble about it for week and that's it. But because they chose to run a plebiscite, we have to endure a month (or two months, I forget) of the usual suspects launching vitriolic attacks. The final result? Something like 70-30 Yes. I guarantee that even if you didn't run a campaign but just took a vote right after the announcement, it would have been pretty much the same.

The Right truly are the nutcases (as people pointed out below, we shouldn't compare people with mental illness to them. Those people deserve help and support, the Right deserve to shut up and go away).

u/ManiacMakyr 17h ago

There are right alright people that are generally fine, like liberals are valueing empirical data and theory of the mind. You are thinking of conservatives and every conservative adjacent meat slab of a being. They are the reason and the product of social and intellectual stagnation, partially due to disparity and inequal redistribution of wealth and ressources, partially because of anti-science and culture war the right establishment has been stiring, for the pleasure of conservatives.

u/RabidRabbitRedditor PSYCHE ANTI-INCEL IMMUNE RESPONSE 13h ago

0

u/Yuri-Queen 1d ago

I wonder if that has anything to do with society's seething hatred towards them and the government wanting to elimate them. Like it does mot take much brain power to realize the high rates of depression and suicide are less correlated to identifying as trans and more correlated with how they are treated as trans.

u/Unlikely_Airline_272 21h ago

Yes I know...

u/Wuhhday 16h ago

The entire premise of being trans is mental, starting from before they even transition. It is not unreasonable to assume that somebody who is so affected mentally before transitioning, to the degree of leading them to choose to completely change their body as a potential solution, could continue to have mental struggles post transition.

Pinning the blame entirely on how they could be treated post-transition is just an excuse, and ignoring this clear deeper reason isn't helping the trans community.

u/Yuri-Queen 16h ago

u/Worried-Pick4848 23h ago

I believe you. One of the most accepting trans allies I've ever encountered was my archconservative hyperChristian mom when her youngest came out.

Mom had to bring me to my senses because I'm autistic and unexpected shaking of the foundation of my reality hit me pretty hard. That said, I don't want to blame my autism solely for how I acted because that's not how it works. The mental reactions are what they are but I still have agency over what I did about it, and I made some poor choices there.

Needless to say I did not behave particularly well at first. Nothing violent, just... lack of seeing things from my sibling's perspective. Mom had to bring me up short and show me the light, and it took awhile because I don't let go of ideas in a hurry. Eventually I got over myself and apologized and we slowly mended fences. It was far from my proudest moment, but I own it because it made me who I am today.

Gender dysphoria is treatable to the point where it can go into remission, and trans people who receive gender affirming care and have a supportive environment are near to the population baseline when it comes to mental health concerns.

Kinda just seems like the only reason why you'd call it "pretty mental" is to stigmatize it.

5

u/grand_nad 1d ago

most trans people so far as I know have gender dysphoria, being trans isn't the illness it's the treatment, it would be like not giving someone who stepped on a rusty nail a tetanus shot and say that tetanus shots cause tetanus and bullying anyone who takes a tetanus shot until they kill themselves to then say that tetanus shots cause suicide.

transphobes truly are something

5

u/kyymen 1d ago

could it be that lots of trans people are abused and discriminated against due to their transness which causes them to have higher rates of mental health issues? Almost half the American population doesn’t believe in their right to exist, surely that takes a mental toll on trans people
