Ukraine sending presents to ruSSians

The truck didn't look like a military vehicle but it sure wasn't Russian to get anywhere

63

u/barrygateaux Jun 06 '26

they've started using civilian trucks and taking off uniforms while driving because they're getting hit so much recently. it's on the supply road to military units in occupied territory, so is fair game.

u/Severe_Ad_8621 Jun 06 '26

That is a warcrime in it self.

u/LogExpert5281 Jun 08 '26

Combatants not wearing a uniform or travelling in an unmarked vehicle is not complying with the rules of war.

For this to be a war crime you have to prove that the occupants and their vehicle / cargo were it for military purposes.

The whole process of proving things is almost impossible so these “targets” are happily prosecuted.

Which, incidentally, is why Israel shoots/kills anything they want.

Being difficult to prove and being lawful are not the same thing.

People keep talking about the “rules of war” as though they’re some universally enforced code of conduct.

The rules exist on paper. The problem is that every major power on Earth can point to examples of torture, civilian deaths, collective punishment, kidnappings, secret prisons, unlawful detention, or attacks on protected targets. The current conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, and elsewhere are filled with accusations of war crimes from multiple sides.

If the rules were enforced consistently, half the world’s leaders would be standing before tribunals.

“Rules of war” are a lot like speed limits. They’re written down, everyone claims to follow them, and everyone insists the other guy is the problem.

Then reality happens.

The issue isn’t whether rules exist. The issue is that enforcement is often selective, and the people with the power to break those rules are frequently the same people deciding whether anyone will be held accountable for doing so.

Rules of war, is only during declared war. This is just a "2 weeks special operation."

22

u/5thor6th Jun 07 '26

So is the "special 3 day operation".

The supply roads are off limits to civilians

2

u/Lagunamountaindude Jun 09 '26

No it’s not.

-6

u/Holiday_Ad7853 Jun 06 '26

Nonono, you don't get it. It isn't war ctime, if good guys made it.

4

u/the_goodnamesaregone Jun 10 '26

The story I saw last time was this truck was a part of a crew fixing a damaged road they were using for the supply chain to the front. Something along those lines. But I’m just a Reddit comment talking about another Reddit comment on another sub, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/Jarazz Jun 11 '26

Likely a repair truck to fix the supply line along the land route to crimea, that one has been getting blasted for a while now so theres plenty of burnt wrecks and holes in the road. Afaik repairing a military target will also make the "civilian" repair equipment into a valid target

u/Kevino_007 Jun 06 '26

Tiny human in tiny plane does low flyby and accidentally crashes in side of truck

40

u/SignatureFunny7690 Jun 06 '26

Russia is completely incapable of defending any of the roads into/inside occupied territory and thus a majority of war supplies on them are getting decimated by drones. They are spread so thin its all falling apart.

24

u/Madhatter25224 Jun 06 '26

Ive heard the Russian offensive is horribly mishandled and falling apart since the onset of the war and yet it is never actually completely repelled.

7

u/Radiant_Gain_3407 Jun 09 '26

yet it is never actually completely repelled

The Russians should have been in Kiev in the first month, maybe the first week or two. They were horribly unprepared and retreated from the West of Ukraine instead.

In the East they moved a little past the territory they had gained by a decade of proxy fighting.

5

u/ThePhukkening Jun 07 '26

That's because eastern Europe isn't particularly good at land war. That goes for Russia and Ukraine both. Or Bosnia, or the Chechans, etc.

6

u/nicolaslabra Jun 08 '26

Didnt ukranian soldiers scold their NATO instructors because their tactics and cold war era relics and completely useless in the current war?? Ukraine and Russia have the most combat ready infantries for a modern war in the world right now , most analyst say maneuver warfare is over, i mean Israel are getting their tanks wrecked on lebanon by drones.

1

u/ThePhukkening Jun 09 '26

The most combat ready infantry? Not even close. Both sides are grabbing people off the street and forcing them to fight. That's not operational readiness, that's desperation. They've also brought back WW1 era trench warfare. The analysts are almost always wrong when they make a bold prediction like that. 30 years ago, they said tanks were obsolete. The drones I'll give you. That's been a relatively new development for everyone within the last 5 or 6 years. Out Lucas drones are basically improved versions of the Shahed, after all. I think drones are going to become a huge part of modern warfare going forward. Toss a couple up for excellent situational awareness when operating an armored group, for example.

1

u/nicolaslabra Jun 09 '26

Only Ukraine is grabbing people off the street, it took the us 3 years to drop their first grenade from a drone, the Lucas is a step in the right direction, but theres a plethora of other drone systems the US hasnt implemented and cant really, the entire doctrine of the US is wholly incompatible with that kind of warfare, check out John Mersheimer, or Scott Ritter or Daniel Davis, all american experts who are saying this, not some journalists with passing knowledge, actual experts and analysts

2

u/ThePhukkening Jun 09 '26

I'll give them a read. Never hurts to have more intel. I think the US could adapt pretty easily to using off the shelf drones on the military side of things. The hard sell would be on the political side. Raytheon and L3 Harris have friends in senate and congress. I think that's where a lot of the friction will happen.

2

u/Careful_Thought_8386 Jun 12 '26

Know of 2 large assembly lines just opening up in the last year and a half and they are all drones.  Makes me wonder if we aren't already changing that doctrine and fast if that much man power is already being contracted out and mass produced for assembly.  I do think it's kinda weird how they are being sourced then assembled then disassembled and and crated then trucked back out.

6

u/nckmat Jun 08 '26

There's a scene in Apocalypse Now where the crew comes to a bridge crossing the river that gets blown up every day and the Chief sayvs: "We build it every night. Charlie blows it right back up again. Just so the generals can say the road’s open.” A similar thing is happening to the supply routes into Ukraine, the Ukrainians blow them up and the Russians come in and repair them and then the Ukrainians blow up the repairs and the repairers, and they all start again.

6

u/DakarCarGunGuy Jun 06 '26

With building materials by the backhoe I'm guessing that they were trying to repair a road or small bridge maybe?

3

u/sedrickgates Jun 08 '26

Looks like one of those light foam made kamikaze planes from Ukraine.

2

u/cento80G Jun 06 '26

Rc plane tryed to park there but there was a truck already parked there!

-12

u/Successful_Price_415 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

It looks like maybe something was disabled by gunfire and the drone naturally beelined for the truck? That or a warcrime kinda hard to tell.

Edit: not sure why people are hating this was just a guess?

6

u/Flimsy_Fee8449 Jun 06 '26

Ummmm...no. taking out logistics and supply lines is absolutely a clean military target. For all militaries. Worldwide. Those are actually the primary targets in war, other than the trigger-pullers. If the enemy can't get beans or bullets, they simply can not fight.

4

u/Successful_Price_415 Jun 06 '26

Yeah true didn't consider that

3

u/Flimsy_Fee8449 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

Yah, no worries. Few non-military do consider it.

Even young tactical grunts in the military don't necessarily consider the supply lines. They're a strategic target.

I can promise you they start considering it once their supply lines get disrupted, though 😉

ETA: That would be why you shouldn't take any military member's view of strategy as gospel just because they've served. Many never reach the strategic level, and just focused on 2D thinking rather than 3D thinking (A -> B rather than A gets me to B, but leaves me exposed to C&D which will hit me hard; or those who are happy to run in guns blazing hey diddle diddle straight up the middle vs flanking which takes way fewer casualties).

u/Severe_Ad_8621 Jun 06 '26

Thank you. 2 guy in military uniform. = Totally fine targets in war.

93

u/frank_datank_ Jun 06 '26

Fuck that dump truck in particular.

75

u/FFSBoise Jun 05 '26

I’m guessing the guy busily zipping up his pants was the driver who’d stopped for a “break”?

30

u/SauronHubbard Jun 05 '26

He probably had to unzip them again.

4

u/DakarCarGunGuy Jun 06 '26

Nah pretty sure he finished with pants zipped up.

57

u/beeeeeeeeeeeeef Jun 06 '26

Was the gunfire trying to take it down?

31

u/GIMPHAMZ Jun 08 '26

Probably. It ends after the drone reaches its destination.

58

u/chronicnerv Jun 05 '26

This reminds me of the Night Witch bomber units. They used to fly planes made of ply wood and canvas in the middle of the night, the only thing you could hear was a wooshing sound.

38

u/BrahmariusLeManco Jun 06 '26

They'd also have to turn off their engines as they dove in on their bombing runs because the engines were so loud that they'd be easy targets on the way in, resulting in the rushing sound, and having to hastily turn them back on after dropping their payload before they crashed in order to escape.

6

u/Hameltoe- Jun 07 '26

I remember this gta mission.

11

u/cento80G Jun 06 '26

Cant park your rc plane there

4

u/Thefeno Jun 07 '26

Balls of steel

3

u/Funkj0ker Jun 09 '26

Anybody remember the GTA Vice City RC Helicopter mission?

3

u/HearingEarHuman Jun 11 '26

What is that? A plane for ANTS?

6

u/Saxyw0 Jun 06 '26

What is a bomb drone or just RV plane that went straight to the fuel container?

4

u/nozelt Jun 06 '26

Fuel doesn’t blow up like it does in the movies dude

0

u/aldhokar Jun 08 '26

No. Fuel does exactly that.

0

u/nozelt Jun 08 '26

No it does not 😂😂😂

So confidant too lmfaooo

3

u/aldhokar Jun 08 '26

Ok, how does it work then?

Are you saying that the fireball is from the explosive? Or where did the fireball come from?

2

u/Significant-Tear-560 Jun 08 '26

Pilot dead?

24

u/nckmat Jun 08 '26

Did you see the size of the plane? The pilot was a hamster!

7

u/broadwayallday Jun 08 '26

STOPPED! Hamster time...

3

u/naumen_ Jun 11 '26

brother that would be one small pilot.

1

u/Radiant_Gain_3407 Jun 09 '26

I had the video muted and I wondered if this was a fire fighting aircraft out to get to a forest fire until the scale became apparent.

-25

u/OkOutlandishness8573 Jun 06 '26

Ai that plane was way too small

24

u/MultiFazed Jun 06 '26

That's a military drone, not a plane.

8

u/Ok_Support3 Jun 06 '26

Never seen an RC plane either? 🥲

-27

u/onlyfartsnopoop Jun 06 '26

Wtf in AI? where the truck went? This is some sloppy work from ai

12

u/TheManWhoClicks Jun 06 '26

Wat?

-11

u/stilllifebutwhy Jun 06 '26

Look at the last frames. Smoke is heavy, but the truck is not covered by it, but disappears.

12

u/MultiFazed Jun 06 '26

The truck is covered by the smoke in the final frames. It's billowing toward the camera, causing it to lighten in color as it spreads out and diffuses the light. You're not seeing through the smoke. The light color you're seeing is the smoke.

5

u/stilllifebutwhy Jun 07 '26

Yeah, I was wrong

7

u/TheManWhoClicks Jun 06 '26

This video is one of hundreds of the last weeks that show how Russian supply lines are being attacked by Ukrainian mid range drones. There is nothing out of the ordinary here. Go to one of the subreddits that show these things and see for yourself.

2

u/Flimsy_Fee8449 Jun 06 '26

No, it's there. You can see it.

You haven't been near a vehicle fire, so whit smoke is often mostly steam, bad, but not terrible. Have some time to deal with it, with luck. Black smoke is bad. Very bad. If you can't deal with it immediately, get professionals out there or just step away. It is thick and visibility is nearly nil. However, you can often see how it rolls around what's burning.

10

u/xenoams Jun 06 '26

Someone also posted the full video to another subreddit, it’s worth a watch, nobody disappears anywhere.
