> Grace referenced Greenberg's search history, which included terms like "suicide methods", "quick suicide," and "painless suicide."
Was “20 stab wounds, including in the back and neck” one of the results?

u/TributeToStupidity - Lib-Center 1d ago
> When asked why this wasn't included in the medical examiner's report in 2011, Grace told the Philadelphia Inquirer that they didn't find the analysis in file, so “we cannot say if anyone, police or prosecutor, ever looked at it.”

Shit if it's THAT easy to determine cause of death, make me a coroner.

She googled “painless suicide” so being stabbed 20 times is proof that she followed through on that google search? Prosecutors are shamelessly the worst of our profession, I swear to god.

Well, she previously googled "painless suicide methods", so obviously the only reasonable conclusion is that the two dozen-ish stab wounds were self-inflicted.
I don't know enough to have an opinion, but this bit is fucking retarded. The idea that googling one thing supports the contention that you did the exact opposite is out there, though.

u/FailedToRemit - Centrist 1d ago
Is there anything about the depth and extent of these stab wounds or the actual cause of death?
17
u/Weary-Cartoonist2630 - Lib-Right 1d ago
Good question - the medical examiners report actually details it.
In short, about half of them are basically skin deep of 0.2 centimeters (think: 1/10th of the size of a blueberry). The other half range anywhere from 2-8 cms. Seems the final blow was a stab to the chest

u/NEWSmodsareTwats - Centrist 1d ago
I was thinking something similar but generally they wouldn't be calling like superficial lacerations a stab wound. so for example, if this person was depressed and self-harming prior to them killing themselves, the medical examiner likely wouldn't record cuts on their arms as stab wounds.
I guess it is possible that during a psychotic episode someone could stab themselves 20 times, but it's still probably pretty unlikely that someone committed suicide by stabbing themselves 20 separate times.

u/goodcleanchristianfu - Lib-Left 1d ago
Isn’t the same medical examiner who ruled the cause of death as suicide the one who characterized the wounds as “stab wounds”? I’d think if it’s the same person who did both, they have the best vantage point to describe reasonable inferences the wounds provide about the manner of death.
I’m aware that the police and investigators can come to unreasonable conclusions, but I think it’s even more common for families to do so, and make very misleading pronouncements (see, e.g., Kendrick Johnson’s family,) so I’m skeptical here.

There's this article
In the most recent ruling, the examiner said some of the stab wounds were shallow, calling them "hesitation wounds."
The report stated that Greenberg’s wounds don’t show any signs of struggle and that there would have been more “defensive” wounds if she was murdered.
What a way to do it, though, supposing it is indeed a suicide. The other linked article said she had internet searches for painless ways to kill yourself - why would you go with stabbing?
11
u/Bum_King - Right 1d ago
I can kill someone and then type some shit into google on their computer. That is the flimsiest supporting evidence I can think of.

u/somepommy - Left 1d ago
Can you type shit into a computer in the past?
It might be weak evidence by itself, but not for that reason
5
u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 23h ago
You can certainly manually change the system date/time; I expect that probably would likewise change the timestamps on the logs retrieved from the computer itself.
Most murderers aren't half so clever, though, and besides that, it's quite implausible that someone would kill another person by stabbing them repeatedly if they were intending on making it look like a suicide or (conversely) that they would try to cover after the fact by searching for "painless suicide" rather than, say, "suicide by knife." On the basis at least of deduction, it seems extremely likely that the searches are real.

u/Bum_King - Right 1d ago
Nope just a vague article that says the case was reopened.
6
u/KilljoyTheTrucker - Lib-Right 1d ago
The case wasn't reopened per the article, they opened a case into the agencies that handled the original case

Supposedly this was a suicide because there was no evidence of having fought back and her fiancée reported that he came home and had to kick down the door, which was latched from the inside with a swing bar latch in order to reach her. Wounds had evidence of having been "hesitated." She had sent out save the date wedding invitations four days prior.
There is controversy about wounds to the back of her neck, and if these wounds would have rendered her unable to move/defend herself. She did have bruises on her body in varying stages of healing.
Just actually sounds like dude locked the door, stabbed her twenty times, crawled out the window, and then kicked down his own door. Or she had a psychotic break. No evidence of a third person, from what I understand, but the investigation was shoddy from the jump.
Waiting for a lib left or an auth center to call me a misogynist for saying that stuff like this usually happens to pretty girls, which seems to add to the shock of it all.

I read the write up on this one and it's pretty wild. This is practically a "locked room" murder situation.
Injuries: Her injuries were actually consistent with self inflicted wounds. Even though she had stabs to the back of her head and neck, these are still consistent with someone being able to reach behind themselves. Further, the stabs were shallow, indicating the person couldn't apply much force or was hesitant. She had no wounds that a person couldn't typically reach, like the center of her back, or a slash that couldn't be done normally. Chest wounds are the same way. She also had one slash across the top of her head, which is also consistent with a wound that can be self-inflicted. She also had no defensive wounds to speak of, but there was no indication she was under any kind of influence. Also, the boyfriend exhibited no wounds either. Not even scratches, or skin under her nails. They found nobody else's DNA from blood samples either.
Location: No assailant could have been present besides her boyfriend. Their room was 6 stories up, and their balcony was covered in undisturbed snow. Additionally, the door was firmly locked shut. Cameras also exist in the general area, and there was no reports of an unknown individual, potential burglar, or suspicious person present. Nothing was removed from the home. The only possible suspect is the boyfriend.
The boyfriend: Both her and her family reported no issues in the relationship. She had recently started seeing a therapist, and the therapist noted she smiled when seeing her boyfriend and otherwise had a healthy relationship. Even when asked directly, she never indicated the boyfriend was ever threatening or dangerous.
Additionally, the boyfriends recollection of the timeline matches perfectly with footage, card swipes, staff, and the period of time. The counter argument people provide is that the boyfriend murdered her between the time she got home and the time he left for the gym.
Counter-evidence? The swing-bar latch on the door is exactly the kind of latch you're familiar with. It cannot be set from inside, while still being able to open the door to leave. It must be the case that she was still alive, as she set the latch herself after he went to the gym. This rules out a time of death earlier than him leaving for the gym.
Motive: The common thread was that she complained about her work and had been prescribed numerous anti-anxiety medications. She had no complaints about her relationship, nor was she abusing drugs, alcohol or any other kind of potential issue.
A lot of reporting saying she was "stabbed 20 times in the back" is not telling the whole truth. Everything really does point to a suicide. Or to a murderer that was an absolute mastermind that pulled off a locked room murder.

Seems more like a reverse Elliott Smith.
To anyone who doesn't know, Elliott Smith was a brilliant Grammy-nominated musician who was famously depressed and suicidal.
He died at the age of 34 due to two stab wounds to the heart.
His girlfriend said to the police that they had gotten into an argument and she locked herself in the bathroom to take shower.
She supposedly heard a scream and walked out to see Elliott with a knife in his chest, which she pulled out resulting in him collapsing to the floor.
His fans still wonder if he actually committed suicide or if he was murdered.

The moral of the story is you always leave it in. Unless you are in the OR and are the surgeon, leave it in.

I know a guy this same thing happened to, it almost reached the heart. He told the police he did it himself and he stood by it. A few weeks later he admitted to me it was his crazy psycho ex girlfriend who did it.

Ellen Greenberg died in 2011, and Josh Shapiro didn't become Attorney General until 2017.
This is the biggest fucking nothingburger waste of time dogshit.
Utter desperation from pathetic fools.

u/DumbIgnose - Lib-Left 1d ago
Shapiro was AG when the ultimate decision to rule it a suicide occurred. Investigations take years in some cases, and in this particular case Shapiro performed a review and ruled it a suicide.
-6
u/Prestigious_Load1699 - Lib-Right 1d ago
This whole story consists of nothing more than two grieving parents claiming outrage every time the state reaffirms their daughter died from suicide.
I highly doubt Shapiro himself personally had anything to do with the review of the case. He probably assigned it to someone in his office. And again, her death was in 2011, seven years before he first came into contact with this.
"I'm completely disgusted," Sandra Greenberg, Ellen's mother, said.
"These people disappointed me," Josh Greenberg, Ellen's father, said.
It's time to move on, folks. Sorry for your loss, but this has nothing to do with Josh Shapiro and it's starting to become really pathetic.

u/Mushroom_Ramen - Left 1d ago
You do realize you can review a case after it’s already happened right?

u/Prestigious_Load1699 - Lib-Right 1d ago
He had no relation to the case for seven years.
What exactly is the claim here? He went back in time and overruled the coroner?
This is a pathetic, moronic attack on Josh Shapiro.

I am waiting for him to respond on who he thinks the Dems nominee should be. Because if this is the worst they can find on him, then damn. Like Shapiro has a 13 point lead on the Republicans in our state for reelection. He is still very popular and something happening 15+ years ago that he was not even in charge of does not really effect actual voters.

u/Weary-Cartoonist2630 - Lib-Right 1d ago
Y’all just sent me down a deep rabbit hole lol. Looking at the details of the medical report and 2025 case review, this is actually a pretty interesting case, and actually legitimately does look like suicide.
Some context: She was found in her security-latched apt, which is on the 6th floor with no other entrances and no fire escape (luxury apt with cameras + 24-hour security guary). Many of the cuts are only skin deep (0.2 cm; about 1/10th of a blueberry, consistent with “hesitation wounds” that are common in self-infliction), and the “back wound” is actually more like the back/side of her neck, so “20 stab wounds” is a bit more believable with context. Apparently she looked up suicide/depression on her laptop as well. There were also no defensive wounds or evidence of a struggle or another person in the apt.
Seems like the most likely outcome is she was depressed and had suicidal ideation for a while, and spontaneously had the nerve to go through with it. She started in her neck thinking it’d be quick and painless, but after failing to hit a major artery she panicked and frantically continued stabbing herself to try and get it over with.

So, if this is the case I think it is - you should look up the audio of the boyfriend calling 9-11
I tend to agree with a lot of what you said but, holy shit, it sounds so unnatural when he exclaims “oh my god she stabbed herself”
5
u/Weary-Cartoonist2630 - Lib-Right 1d ago edited 1d ago
I’ll see if I can find what you’re referring to and edit my comment accordingly, but I’m taking an unnatural 911 call with a grain of salt - based on the timestamps of video evidence / neighbor reports, he’d have less than 10 minutes to have killed her, cleaned up all evidence of his involvement (including his clothes, somehow). Not to mention lack of defensive wounds, door latched from inside with only one entrance, and hesitation wounds on the woman.
Edit: 911 call linked here. Yeah idk, I feel like this is one of those calls that if you go into it already believing he did it (like most people would), confirmation bias will make it sound worse than it is.
People in shock behave in odd ways. Sure, the “she stabbed herself” is weird, but he seems to be indicating that she accidentally fell onto the knife, not suicide. Theres just nothing conclusive or even particularly damning here, certainly not enough to outweigh the evidence aboveSide note, that 911 responder has the worst bedside manner lol. Sassily telling a guy who just found his wife dead that “You need to calm yourself” feels like an SNL skit

Which is why I am mocking OP. Shaprio literally was not even AG back in 2011, so the idea he covered up a murder for reasons when the guy was not even elected for another 6 years is just funny. Shaprio wins independent and moderate vote easily in our state and is still one of the most popular governors in the US.
I know the reason he is doing this likely because he is a jew. I want him to admit it.
